That's great to hear. I have the console and control unit and just waiting on the antenna to arrive today or tomorrow. Will hopefully have the same results this weekend.

My 06 M35 was the base model, and I wanted the Nav really badly so I bought the necessary parts on eBay and installed it myself. Its not hard at all, everything is plug and play, it was just a matter of swapping out old with new. It cost me around $700 total, versus ~$4K from dealer! The funny thing is I called up several dealers and they said it couldnt be done but here I am with stock navigation in my car.The only thing I want to do now is add the rear view camera. I have the OEM camera AND the camera control module, I dont know where to go from there because I haven't been able to rip apart my trunk to see if the wiring is there because I have a custom audio setup in my trunk. I am hopeful tho.

I bought the antenna and the control unit for a non-nav but the Sale fell thru. The car i'm getting today has Navigation so if all goes well I will want to get rid of these.

Cruise, what NAV Hack are you talking about? Did you also buy the DVD player that goes in the center console? If not what is this NAV hack you are talking about?

The one where you can install a switch so you can use all the navigation features, even while moving

OK here is my case and I need your advice:

I found a used 2007 Infiniti M45. I don't know what package it is because they have only two packages here in my country:

1- with nav and bluetooth2- without nav and bluetooth

that used M45 has No nav and No bluetooth phone. It has everything else, Rear Cam, sensors, ...etc

It has the 8 speakers sound system not the 14 speakers

2006 and 2007 M45 didn't have navigation units since there were No Map disks developed for my country. They made one in 2008, so they included navigation system and bluetooth starting 2008.

I would like to buy the nav unit of the 2008 and install it on that used 2007 M45.

My question is: If I follow your steps and buy the necessary parts, the nav will be installed, now:1- Are 2008 unit and parts going to work on 2007 M45 ?2- Does it come with bluetooth ?.. If yes, what about the Microphone ? is it already there or shall i also install it.

Thanks a lot.

Hey, You mentioned you ordered the antenna from ebay. I am also trying to install a navigation in my M35x and have found everything expect the antenna. I wasn't sure which antenna would work. Do you have a link or type of antenna you used, so I can be sure I am buying the right one? Thanks in advance for your help.

You will need an antenna with a HRS GT5-1S connector. If your in not in a hurry the ones from overseas (Hong Kong) as really cheap but keep in mind it will probably take 2 weeks to get to you. I myself am impatient and will pay more just to have it in a few days so I would order from within the states.

This was the antenna I bought. At the time, this was the only US seller I found because I didn't want to wait for something from overseas. Also it was $25.00 shipped back then so I see it has jumped a little bit.

I placed mine in the center bose speaker on the dash. If you take off the speaker cover there is a spot where the OE is placed. You can find the exact location in the FSM.

Hi All ...

I am in the process of putting the dash together. Installed center console, antenna, nav drive. Now trying to put everything together again ...

The GLOVE BOX is giving me nightmares. Any idea? I have already installed the trim panel that was behind the glove box. When I fix its hinges in place, there are two tabs sticking out of the glove box, left and right that wont go in, once the hinges are all fixed. any pointers??? how to get this going.

I just installed the OEM Nav on my 06M35...Thanks to this thread and M45Owner's help, the install went smooth and a lot easier than I thought. Took me a little over an hour and I didn't break anything!!! hahahah

To answer your question, the glove box only took me about 15 seconds to put back on. I pulled back on the cord and snapped it into place, then lined up the left hinge of the glove box in its location and wiggled the right side in its place....closed the glove box and that was it.

Planning on ordering my parts for this "upgrade"...

do any of you know how the GPS is on our M's? Is it voice activated/controlled? Can anyone advise if one GPS antenna is better than another?

Would something like the following work?

thanks,

Will do...

I managed to get all the parts except the GPS Module. Looking at about $450 shipped to Canada from the U.S.

Someone asked in a previous response to this thread... will an 08 nav system work in an 07 m35?

I have an '07 m35x, bose 5.1, tech pkg, nav.

**edit**

after some research, it appears that the 07's used the dvd based nav. the 08's used an internal hard drive system.

is it possible to swap out the current dvd based navi control unit with the new tel control unit... and swap out the old audio control unit, with the new internal hard drive system? (I'm assuming I would have to install the appropriate preset and multiswitch controls) -- I'm assuming I could also connect the new 8" touch screen used on the 08's and up models?
