Ugh, my f*** computer froze in the middle of my reply to you, so I'll compose this in Word and autosave.

Anton corrected himself nicely, :chuckle: the PFR6B-11B is a platinum plug, and a very good one at that. It is perfect for 15PSI on stock turbos, comes pre-gapped to 0.035”, and will last close to 60K miles. Even though they do come pre-gapped, you want to check the gap before installation. Be sure not to damage the electrode when checking gap.

You can gap Iridium plugs, but in many cases don’t need to. I currently run the NGK BKR7EIX in my Sport500 TT. I run 19PSI with methanol spray and have a Specialty Z custom tune. The car runs like a dream. I could run 22PSI if I wasn’t a n00b who gapped my 0.030” iridium plugs to 0.035” before installation. Don’t be a n00b, heed what we say and save some headache.

15PSI is the safe upper limit on stock injectors. With upgraded 615s, you can go to 16PSI, but I wouldn’t go any higher than that. This is all assuming you have 93 octane fuel available. If all you have is the 91 octane Cali or Maine piss, then your upper boost limit is 14PSI.

From the man himself.

Set your timing to 15 degrees before TDC and leave it. NEVER change it, there is never a need to do so. If you need to retard it to 13 to avoid detonation, your tune sucks and you need a new EPROM. For your EPROM (ECU) I’d contact SpecialtyZ.com (tell them Tony sent you) or Ztuner.com. Both offer excellent tunes and service for less than Z1 and IMHO, SZ is the best in the business. :dblthumb:

Welcome to Nico, hope you find us helpful and useful!

They should be selling separate tunes for 91 vs 93 octane, not asking owners to retard their timing at the CAS, IMO. That's a mickey mouse way to do things

call sz or ztuner and get an off-the-shelf chip from them

IMHO, I'd sell the Z1 EPROM (the chip inside) and get a Specialty Z tune.

I agree sell the chip (if possible). Then get a SpecialtyZ tune.

Selling is always possible, returning may not be.

I highly doubt they would allow it to be returned.

Maybe not returned, but exchanged.

Z1 does offer tunes for 93 and 91 octane fuel. If you have a 93 octane chip and can only run 91 octane fuel, I'd ask them for at least a partial exchange for the correct program. Did you buy it used or directly from them? Or did your car come with it? They may offer a discount for a re-write on the chip program.

Otherwise, if they don't offer any incentive to use them again, get an SZ chip and be done with it. As I said previously, my experience is that they have the superior OTS (off the shelf) maps.

not a bad choice with the jwt, they're pretty conservative, just make sure it's for the right fuel injectors, etc.

True, it's not a bad choice. Better than many, but not as good as SZ or Ztuner, and both of those options are cheaper. That's why I give the f*** up.

Also SZ has probably tuned way more cars so they will have a tune that better matches his mods/maybe even climate.

PLUS SpecialtyZ kicks a**.

Do what you want, and do your own research, but I was trying to save you the hassle.

It's like if you're going to waste your time watching Marley and Me, I can save you two hours by telling your the dog dies in the end.

See? :chuckle:

Agreed 100%

unless the car is 100% bone stock, no point in keeping the boost level stock, IMHO.

Hey quick question. A mechanic did a compression test and he said all it would do is go up to 30 and back to 0 up to 30 and back to 0 it. I do have an check engine light given me a 53 for the fuel injectors would that be why?
