Ormand wrote:That's pretty much BS. The gain from an intake will depend on two things- one, how good was the intake you replaced, and two, how much power is the engine making. The stock intake on the Altim is pretty restrictive, and the 3.5 makes substantial power, so the 10 or 12 hp gain that is shown by most dyno tests seems to be reasonable. Bigger gains than that have been shown on cars making more power, like Corvettes. And the gains show up on the track, too, so they are NOT just bench racing claims. Exhaust gains may not be as much, since you can't do anything about the cats. On the other hand, of you could replace the ENTIRE exhaust, including the headers and cats, a gain of 30 hp would not be out of reach.
Dude! Seriously, do you know what you're saying?!! Okay, if you're so sure the intake will give you a 10-12 WHP gain, please go and have your car dynoed before and after. And you're talking about WHP gains. I guarantee you will not even see half of that!! You'll probably only see those type of gains with a header and cat-back exhaust. What in the world are you talking about?!

And 30HP through the exhaust?!! Please go and do those mods so you'll have the first 300HP on here.

I did notice a slight increase in throttle response, but definitely not 12WHP worth

I god, my thread turned into another on HP gains from the Injen.

Believe what you want on the outrageous claims for HP by intake manufacturers. Dont want to see this thread go downhill. Keep it nice nice

Tyler, I feel ya! It's just this guy comes on here telling me I'm BS'ing. Now why in the world would I do something like that. And then he goes on about how an intake and full exhaust system from header back will bring his car to 300HP!!! Now I would call that BS'ing. But oh well, if he believes he can do that, then let him be

Sorry for the delay in posting pics of the Injen for the 2.5 A/C.....but here they are. These were taken with my camera phone so the quality is pretty crappy. Hope these pics help with anybody thinking of an install in a 2.5. Like I said in another post I am very happy with the throttle reponse gain, but I still have a problem with the filter slipping down the intake arm. Have to keep adjusting it every couple of days (even though it is as tight as it will go). I need to get this figured out longer term as it is annoying. Happy to answer questions....

Just installed the Black Injen. I took about 45 minutes doing everything as neatly and correct as possible (go figure). My baby just rolled 400 miles on my first test run with it also.

Here is my initial impression.

A) B) The Sound is incredibleC) Throttle response is improvedD) Butt dyno and tires breaking loose inidicate a bit more HP/TQ for sure.E) These should come tuned from the factory damnit.

Going to wait for traffic to die down a bit more and break it in a little more.

How'd you manage to get the filter up so high?

Anyways, I am having the same problem where the heatshield is barely scraping the side of the harness.I didn't experience any serious rattling yet... so if I just leave it as is,, would it be a problem?

*Edit* alrite... I managed to get my intake exactly like yours. I pushed it up as far as it would go and the heat shield does not make contact with anything else. I test drove it and I am still getting that vibration at 2k rpm but it stops immediately. It sounds kinda mean...

is this normal?

I had the vibrating noise when the filter was lower and put this down to the heat shield connecting with the battery compartment. Once I pushed the filter up as far as it would go, the vibrating noise went away. Are you sure that the heat shield is not touching the petruding screw at the bottom? (feel around and you will see what I mean). If so simply loosen the clamps and rotate the whole intake up and away from anything that it could touch. Did the trick for me in the end. Let me know if this works for you.

Hey, I am still having vibration problems. I have adjusted it both up and down, and it seems like the maf sensor is touching the hood, thus making that sound, but im not really sure. The vibration comes out sometimes, and other times doesnt. Let me know if you guys have any other solutions to this

The only thing I can really recommend here is to check that everything is secure and there is no rubbing against anything under the hood. Fiddle around with it some more and see what you come up with. Something must be loose because none of us have experienced troubles like this.
