MECP - You might be outta luck in the dB department - I think that one was one of the louder versions we dealt with... :(

Just out of curiousity (no flame), why such large piping (3 3/4")?

LoL no flame taken:) I'm eventually going to a Ka-T setup and I thought the large diameter piping would be beneficial for a turbo setup. Also the wow factor of it, people see the piping and are amazed from ricers to an mid 70 year old that asked if I was packing a jet engine under the hood, jokingly of course or maybe he was senial?

sorry about 2 post in a row but just curious Az, do you guys hand weld all yoru flanges and mufflers or do you have a fancy automated setup, also you have any upclose shots of the welds, nothing better than a nice hand done weld to put a smile on my face, or a cute girl in a thong:)

I've read that the RSR Exmag is quiet, but that damn thing is hard to find.

I trust AZHitman when he says the BRM system has a good sound and isn't outrageously loud. Personally, I'm thinking of going with a 2.5" system and a resonator, to make up for a loud Hotshot header to be added later.

Maybe he was an oldschool crusty turbo racer guy himself and wondered why anyone would need almost 4" exhaust! :)

Everything we build is hand-welded by old-school master welders. Some MIG, some TIG, and the mufflers are outsourced, made to our specs.

I don't have any real tight closeups of the welds... Maybe one of our recent customers could take some pics?

That gives me an idea - I need some cute girls in thongs who can weld! :D

As soon as I get my exhaust *cough cough* I'll take some pics of the welds and such. And I think we could all use a cute girl in a thong who can weld.

Yo scruff -

Not a great idea. As much as I'd like to sell you a system, the muffler we use is specifically chosen to work with the rest of the catback... Not only that, but it's unlikely to line up with the factory hangars.

My other fear here is if you have some wack POS muffler, and you put the BRM catback with it and it makes NO power, you're gonna be irked.

What muffler are you currently running?

I see...

Well, if you really want the piping, you'll have to get it cut/welded locally if you want to keep the current muffler.

BUT, it's probably not a great idea. I can't imagine that thing flows real well (compared to the 10+ other ones we tested).

Hope that helps, Scruff. :)

so your piping would be too short or long? I'd think it would flow well but I don't know much about exhaust. It does sound really good though.

What we did was we tested 8-10 systems (readily available) on our test S14. We found the one that made the most power and said, "OK, as long as we make AS MUCH power as this one, we've succeeded."

We did, and kept the price lower and the quality the same or better - Not much you can do beyond that.

It'd be long, as the jig requires us to build the system all the way to the bumper... You'd have to have the muffler cut off your system, have a certain amount cut off ours, and then have your muffler welded on.

Easier to just order the system the way it was designed.

Out of the 3 sizes of BRM exhausts for the s14 (2.25, 2.5, 3) which one produced more power? I have heard that a 3 inch exhaust for the s14 is actually better, because of the big 2.4L engine. You may lose a little low end, but I heard you gain ALOT more top end. So is the 3 inch exhaust the best for an NA setup?

3" on an NA is a waste of $. Matter of fact, I wouldn't even sell someone a 3" for their NA unless they were going turbo VERY soon. I wouldn't want someone with a poor-performing car to say, "Hey, check out my BRM Exhaust!"

2.4 L is FAR from "big", and unless you're putting 300+ to the wheels, 3' is silly.

Tell whoever told you that to come here so i can schmack 'em. :)

The piping sizes weren't tested on the same car, that would be senseless. The 2.25 and 2.5 were tested on a stock KA with minor mods, and the 3" was tested on a 330 rwhp SR20DET.

p.s. Gaining "a lot more top end" on a car that has a speed limiter does you no good either. Besides, who does 118+ in a 240?

I have a 3' and I plan on going turbo very soon. I have a GP Sports Spec D exhaust. I love it. Sounds/looks great and will be perfect for my turbo.

Why do i feel like your poking fun at me AZ lol:) Enjuku was happy to sell me the 3 3/4 inch to my N/A Ka. I like how all these guys are posting about diy kits when your sitting there building the cheapest and one of the nicest kits for our cars.

So what size exhaust would you suggest for someone going with a NA setup, say I/H/E cams, pulleys, etc., 2.25 or 2.5?? By the way, on my old 95 auto s14, I went WAY past 118mph, it took a long time, but it went past 120, I would say about 130 or so. Everyone says the s14's had speed limiters, but mine did not. Strange......

Edit: I guess I'll be taking this Apexi N1 exhaust off soon, and as soon as I do, I'll make sure to hit you up AZ and get me a new BRM exhaust!!

If it's done by a muffler shop that doesn't do mandrel bending, we can beat it numerous times with a stick. :)

Mine is 8 inches. Oh, and my exhaust is 3 inches (N1 Dual)

(To all of you that just got my dirty little somewhat funny joke - MUAHHAHAAHAH.)

Thanks for the kind words - We'll get the word out, eventually. :)
