Re-read my post, I mentioned liquor stores. Pensacola, being the naval town it is still does not show the wide variety of brews you guys are showing off. Sure we have a ton of bars but like I said, it's all Bud, Miller, or maybe, just maybe Sam Adams but they practically consider that an import and charge twice as much for it.

Actually no joke, I went into a local pizza place and got a Sam Adams Boston Lager in a piddly 10oz glass, when I got the bill they were $6.50 each.

They put out some good beers. Had one of their barleywines that was a collaboration with Brew Dog a while back.

What I did was look at Dogfish Head's site to see where they sell near you. Looks mostly like wine stores, but with a few liquor stores such as Paradise Liquors in your hood. I don't know exactly where you live, however, this was just a search with a random zip from Pensacola.

Hood is an accurate description. I forgot that a few Paradise Liquors have opened up in random spots, not places I normally drive by. Will have to check out and report.

I love a good Banana Bread and thought I'd give this a try. They state:

"This unique brew combines all the traditional qualities and style of a Charles Wells beer with the subtle flavour of banana

Wells Banana Bread Beer is a popular beer in the Wells and Young’s range of ales. The beer has achieved a number of accolades including winner of "Beer of the Festival" award at CAMRA's London Drinker Festival in March 2002."

They also have a Double Chocolate stout and Waggle Dance (honey brew), which sound interesting.

Soon as they get cold it's a "go" :gapteeth:

How I love this beer! Yum! :dblthumb:

I basically find most anything Sam Adams brews is crap... advertising is all they have going.

Bleh to Abita beers. Do not care for them. Turbodog is ok, but I do not care for the rest of their line. Why hasn't anyone mentioned Unibroue? Now that is a fantastic brewer.

Turbodog is good. Also can't say I'm a fan of any of their others, though.

Knocked out one of these last night... fairly delicious. Grabbed another one to age.

Also have a 6 pack of Rogue Brewing's Yellow Snow IPA...

I had just bought 4 bottles of my dream, 4 Calling Birds by the Bruery off eBaY. The way they do it is sell them as collectible bottles and state that the value is the bottle not the contents.

Things have been getting crazy lately.

Cracked open the Old Numbskull and it was tasty and kind of nutty. This was given to me as a present and I have yet to find something by AleSmith that doesn't rock. The Reg Yeti was awesome the Oak Aged is next on the list.

Image

The Brother Thelonious was good but nothing mind blowing. Was kind of a light body dark and couldn't decipher any particular brewing spices.

Image

Took my new lady to a German restaurant and had this. It was really solid with a nice round body(unlike the new girl).

Image

Sent the Trade Winds and Palomino to my buddy in Austin, neither are distributed outside of California so they'll be a treat for him, hopefully. I'm kind of bummed because I wanted the Trade Winds! The More Brown Than Black IPA is a collab with Stone, The Alchemist, and Ninkasi. It was amazing. Supposedly the 11-11-11 Vertical Epic is awful. It's got cardamon and anaheim chilies and everyone has said it taste like bell peppers(which I hate). I've got 2 bottles of 10-10-10 so I figured I'd pick up 2 of the 11's and hopefully they mellow out by 12-12-12. I'm rolling the dice with the Shallow Grave as I know nothing about Heretic.

I just wish I would have snagged a few more of the Stranahan's barrel aged YETI's... BEST beer I have ever tasted... seriously. I doubt we'll see one of those again any time soon.

Young's Double Chocolate Stout is amazing and was my gateway into liking beer. There's a bar that just opened up around here that sells nothing but beer, they have about 500 different ones at any given time. Another existing well known bar has a few hundred different ones as well. There's a lot of selection.

We have quite a few micro-brew restaurants around but no big pubs with a large selection. I just have to keep watching the beer cases of the larger liquor stores for better selections or pick some up when I travel.

What are the brew dates? The last thing I would want is old beer. As I like Wheat beers it seems if they sit around too long they start to taste different/bad.

This is a seasonal that they do every year to the lyrics of the 12 days of Christmas. They're intended to be aged until the 12th day(year). So being that this is the 4th day it's supposed to be aged for 8 more years. I've got 3 bottles left and will probably age 2 of them. The only issue is that I never got the first 3 releases. The same goes with Stone's vertical epic bit theirs is based on the end of the world, 12-12(21)-12.

That's just crazy! I'm guessing black truffle but I wouldn't complain.

FWIW Young's and Guinness are what got me into beer. Moved to smoked porters and now Belgium's are what do it for me.

Gave this one a try last week. Those who like beers on a bit bitter side would probably enjoy it. Had decent flavor, just a bit bitter for me.

I try and hit beer stores while out on vacation for different beers. Usually I can find something different at the grocery where I'm vacationing and never need to find a special store.

See if there is a beer specialty store local as they can have unusual brands.
