So as requested....the front brakes finally came in. Its difficult to put into perspective how huge these things are, so I tried using a measuring tape, but it still just does no justice to these things:
Ksport 8 Piston 13 inch kit

Rotors...insanely thick:

Also started on some goodies for the internal build. But the layout will be as follows:
Crower bROD Connecting Rods
JE Pistons 40 over
HKS 272 Intake and Exhaust Cams
Manley Springs, Retainers, and Locks
Ferrea Valves

Image
Injector Dynamics 1000CC injectors

Also got in my PowerFC DJetro, Apexi MAP sensors and harnesses, Apexi Intake Air Temp Sensor and harness, crank, and some other goodies...but i forget the rest.
Shes finally starting to come together. Waiting on some Energy Suspension control arm bushings and then I'll start putting her all back together suspension wise and get it rolling.
Enjoy!

I forgot to ask what you're doing with the car. I'm assuming drift, but why would you need such massive brakes?
If you are lapping/time attacking it that would be cool.

Yeah they actually shut down drifting near us for at least this year and Ill have to travel to Ohio to do it, so Ill be running it on the road course we have. I know a 240 that won't be drifted! Haha!

My 26 was the same. It was about to spin # 6 rod bearing. 0.017" bow in the crank. Scatches in the cylinder bores mainly in 1-3. Little bit of detenation damage on the quench Pads towards the front of the engine. I ended up take 1mm off the bore going 87. Becareful with gasket selection. After I discuss with Tomei I learned they recommend an 88 mm gasket with 87 mm bore.

Are you going to get your new crank balanced to your rods and pistons?

Thanks for the heads up on the gasket, Ill have to check into that. I have Sean at raw brokerage gettin me all the right stuff hopefully so it's in their hands! Haha

And yeah my guys want to balance the whole rotating assembly including flywheel because of how we've been seeing them gettin torn apart alot on the forums, I wouldn't risk it for the 200 dollars they said it costs. It seems to be a must right after doing all the oiling system additions.

I'm doing twin 2860-5's as of right now because I didn't think I'd be building the motor, but I'll probably go to a single larger one next winter unless I just enjoy the twins. So I'm doin the 272s in forethought to the larger turbo.
Jeff Evans tunes my cars though (also tuned full-races rb26) and he said or the smaller turbos it would be better to go with 264 intake and 272 exhaust if I were planning on daily driving (which I'm not) and I may lose some power on the smaller turbos, but nothing really noticeable. But if it were my daily and I was no doubt keeping the twins I would go with what he said and the less aggressive intake cam.

Wow, I read my first reply and wondered how English is my first language, but I guess that's what happens when I'm tired and use an iPhone. I had my bottom end fully balanced. There seems to be a lot of oil pump related issue threads that could have been avoided by a proper balance. Are you assembling yourself?

I read last week in a wiring guide, to consider buying a second oil pressure switch. Wiring it into a relay that switchs ignition power on once it sees oil pressure of say 5 psi or more. Saves on start up wear as the motor cranks for 3-5 seconds providing oil flow to the bearings before the ignition system sparks. More importantly if your oiling system ever dies the engine stops before damage happens.

Best of luck.

Haha I'm still tired and using an iPhone....

Sounds like a good idea man...I'm thinking of doing the ol acusump in it too, but since they've greatly reduced the amount of events at the local track its going to greatly reduce my time getting it to the track. Very unfortunate since thats what it was being made for to begin with. Damn economy!

But in between my stints overseas for work, I've been attempting to work every minute on it. So far since I last updated this we have done the following:
Sent the head to NY to get work done on it
Got a massive shipment in from Raw Brokerage with the remainder of my stuff
Painted the door/trunk jams and interior roof/pillers
Got my grade 12.9 suspension bolts from "Ballerbolts.com" and they are incredibly nice.
Started assembling the rear suspension
Got the front all on
Finished painting the trunk
Prepped the cabin floor for paint/some body work
Finished the wire harness/fuse box tuck
Rolled the rear fenders for the widebody

Shes moving along nice and its a big change to be putting stuff back on rather than taking it off. Its good to finally see some forward progress!

So the whole suspension is finally on the car. Nothing tightened down yet. Still want to make sure that everything is on and looking right and good before everything gets tightened down. Its good to finally have her back to a rolling chasis for the first time in about 6 months.

Now its a waiting game for the guy to get the body kit fit up and the motor back from being worked on. Unfortunately my company is making me go back to school, so this thing may go cold for a little while even though its so incredibly close to being done. It hurts that after all the time money I put into it, it may be held up in the very last steps of it. But hopefully I still make enough to get the last few things I need so it can still be a finished product sometime over summer. Wish me luck and I'll still keep it all updated whenever possilb.e

Yea man Vitally is a good guy, he took care of me well. Great guy and gave me some great deals on everything i got from him. Looks like hes the man drifiting too from his facebook page!

Heres the newest update....I finally got the wheels in.
Image
SSR Professor SP3's
Heres the fronts on the car, 18x9.5, +3 offset. The wheels are being broken down and the faces will be painted the the same yellow as the engine bay and door jams. The lips will remain polished. This was just a test fit with the way they are now.
Image
Rear wheels, 18x12 -1 offset.
Image
SSR did a great job crunching the numbers on what offsets to use to make the perfect stance.
Image
Hows that for a lip? and yes...that is all the money i have left over after being done with this car.

I feel you on the money, especially when you buy quality parts like you have, but it's worth it when you see it come together.
Hope your having fun!

Got some pictures from the engine builders today...Shes looking pretty clean. Everythings going with it, but the head is in NY getting machined and they're waiting on the last part (HKS 272 intake cam) to come in from over in Japan so they can get everything sized right for it. As soon as that comes in we can start getting this bad boy all assembled and ready to rock!
Image
Image
So fresh and so clean! I'll take more this weekend if my headgasket comes in so I can take all the rest of my goodies up there!

And thanks for all the comments guys! glad to see you guys are liking the progress! I'll try to keep it going in the right direction!

Got the oil restirctors installed and clear coated the block after getting it all cleaned up. Waiting on finding some oil squirters for the cylinders, or having our guys make it work somehow and work well...so waiting to hear back from a couple places on weather or not we can get some or have to work with what we got...
Image
Couple parts getting ready to go in on the table....
Image
Got the RAW6 Intercooler kit all mounted up...
Image
Got the BN Blister Widebody all mounted up...just need a little more work on the front fenders....
Image
Back fenders all riveted on...
Image
And got the interior finished painted finally. Truck bed liner just like the trunk. Then started dying the interior pieces like this door trim panel
Image
Old brown dash turned black:
Image
Back painted up...and you can see the color the installed interior looked like by the color of the center consol..haven't had a chance to change it yet!
Image

Still waiting on a cam from Japan to finish the head...man it really is difficult when trying to find specific parts for this thing...but at least it will be worth it when its all done! looking more and more forward to it with every single day!

Getting pretty excited now. The car is finally on the way back together, instead of being broken down like it has been for the past couple months.

Just a little preview on the right side of the car. Ended up changing the doors from the tan to the black, and also got rid of the tweed door cards in favor of some nice black carpet for that clean, not over-done look. The glove box also got recovered, and i also have a large majority of the wiring finished. I probably have 15-20 more wires to shorten/lenthen and then thatll be done. I'm then installing both underhood fuse/relay boxes in the glovebox for easy access and of course, cleanliness under the hood.

Image

I got back my "daily riding" seats back from being re-covered. I'm not as small as i used to be, and i wanted something nice and comfortable that i could sit in and not feel like my nuts were going to sweat off, so i just got some reclinable sport seats and had them re-covered in black leather with black suede centers, and then some orange stiching thrown in there (will be the color of the cage, shift knob, and some other accents so wanted to bring it in)

Image

Also some good news about the motor: Finally got my cam up to New York where the head has been. The cam dropped right in so it was a pretty quick turn around (they wanted to make sure the cams fit in the head right before shipping it back here). The long block is also finished and completely assembled. The head should be on this week, and should be pretty much assembled and ready to rock and roll very soon.

Heres a preview of what thats going to look like:

Went up to check out how the engine build was going, to get some new pictures, and to drop off the last parts they needed to complete the build.

Head back from new york ready to get all loaded up:
Image
Still needs to get washed up and painted to match the block:
Image
Block is all assembled and ready to go!

Table full of some goodies waiting to go on

Valves finally in since the head finally got back. Looking beautiful!

Going to try to finish up a majority of the interior over the long weekend. hopefully can finish the wire harness...FINALLY! re-wiring the entire car front to back took a lot longer than i thought with all the off and on work i did on it. But it'll be worth it with the small amount of wiring in the engine bay and moving all the fuses/relays into the glove box. Its much cleaner, and i took out at least 15-20 pounds of wiring through out the entire car. All i keep thinking is i hope it all starts up after such a major process!

If you're anything like me, I can't wait for the next few weeks and the completion of this motor!
