This [the injector pictured last] is a 94 and later injector.

ok, from the top, how many tan and how many purple do you have? the tan are the original factory color on the '94+, the purple are the nissan replacement.

As I said, the injector coming to you is used, but lower mileage than any of your tan ones (assuming factory original), so you might just wanna pop the whole thing in. still wish i kenw why your engine eats caps, has me a bit worried.....

also, while purple, those 'catalog' photos are not of oem nissan injectors.

I got Jay's injector, with a pintle cap installed, in the mail today. Put the injector in and the engine is purring again. You're right Jay, it looks like it's been to war and back but it works fine. I appreciate you helping me get back on the road while I hunt down pintle caps.

I also was able to find pintle caps today. Spoke with Dave Deatsch of DeatschWorks and he sold me 8 of them for $2.50/ea plus $1 for shipping. Seemed like a fair price so I didn't even ask for the NICO discount.

So it looks like I'm setting myself up for an under-plenum job this summer. I've got 5 questionable fuel injectors that may or may not have pintle caps, one dead knock sensor, and one injector ohming in the high 20's. Everything I touch under the hood is so brittle after 140000 miles, I can't imagine how much hotter it must get under the plenum.

Now I can turn my efforts to a more fun job- installing the spoiler I bought from PopPop (Jeremy). I got it painted ($150) at a local shop and ordered the hardware ($55) from Joe. In the next few days I'll be working on a template ($0) to help drill the holes. Not cheap but it will look very nice.

Is the harness for the CHMBL in the Standard trunk?

Yes. There is an unused plug under the trunk lid trim.

hey Mike-good to hear you're rolling again, and glad i could help.also good to know that those caps are available separate if needed.there are several parts lists floating around on the plenum. important thing is to remind them that you want ALL the rubber incl water hoses, secondary air hoses. the lower runner to head gaskets as well if you want to pull the lower runners--which makes removing the y-pipe to get to the ks easier, and allows you to clean runners up real good. you could also then check for pintle caps without removing injectors from the rais--although that's not *that* big a deal.

PS- been to war and back? just my 2 small flatheads for popping it out.....

This thread is very rich in information, and just showed everyone else how nico members helped each other.... hopefully, the remaining active members will do the same with old/new "troubled" members of nico club.....(like me trying to do the plenum job tomorrow----jan 27 @ 30 degrees in an open driveway.. )
