I take only wheels and tires to DT and have them work on. I also give like $10 tip and they do great job with no scratches or damage. Then I come home and put them on myself. Usually, I take two wheels to DT, so it takes two days finish the job, but no complaints at all.

2 of my tire's treads were in the wrong direction and I had to get them swapped out and they ended up scratching the center of my new wheels like fu%#@&% crazy with an impact and my lug key. I'm glad they didn't crack because they were WAYY over torqued.

UPDATE:

So I call the store they say to come by.....

I show up tell them the gripe and the manager comes out and looks at it.

"Yea they f*cked that up pretty good" I'm like yea no sh*t.

We go inside he fills out the claim and now I'm waiting for coporate to call me back. The manager says I should hear from them today and they will probably want me to get a couple of estimates.

Well by law I don't have to do sh*t I can take it where I want so I drove right down the road to the Nissan Dealer to talk with my guy (been using this dealer for almost 8 years so I know pretty much everyone and they all know my car... lol) so I will be using them or should I say their personal autobody shop. I'll keep you guys informed.

I'm pretty sure they have a wheel mounting machine at the auto hobby shop. Or maybe you don't trust those guys.?

Same here. Unless I really feel like working in which case I will load up the 4x4 whose bed is about 5" off the ground.

I fly in the helicopter (aircrew/AO) not a pilot. They leave that up to the college yuppie f*ckers who think they know it all.

I was actually thinking along the same lines as Brian. Even though they are a large company doesn't mean they have to take responsibility for something that you can't prove. It sucks for you dude, but your biggest mistake was driving off of their property without inspecting your car. I inspect my sh/t right in front of any shop I deal with because of these type of experiences I've had in the past. I'm not going to go into details here but I drove off from Allied Tire when i was younger and they pulled the "We didn't do that" line on me. It is even not a bad idea to take an actual "video" of your car before you drop it off at a shop. It sounds anal but people just don't own up to their f/ck ups for fear of it coming out of their pockets or them losing their job.

Good luck my friend!

Could I ask where would be the best spot to jack up these cars to avoid that kind of stuff from happening?

The diff. and if you need to get to the front use ramps. NEVER jack up a 240sx using the frame rails.

or if you have to work on wheels, brakes etc, jack up on the front subframe. but i do love my ramps. they work wonders!

when i first got my car i jacked it up by the frame rail and it got a little tweaked but nothing like DDgsxr's car, that's ridiculous sucks that it happened to a clean s14...let us know how they get that fixed.

i took mine to azteca tire on I avenue for a flat repair and they did that same exact thing to me damage was pretty much equal. i took the rail off myself straitened it out and paid someone 60 bucks to weld it back on. he did full welds instead of the factory spot weld i think its stronger now.

but i was PISSED when the guy did that i started yelling at him right there i actually watched him do it. should ran up to the car and kicked the jack out form underneath it. but since im a stupid 18 year old i didn't even bother taking it up with the manager. i just left

They don't do stick on weights, so yea I could use the hobby shop if I wanted clip on weights sitting on the lip of my wheel looking like @ss.

There should be a sticker on the jack that shows you the jack points.

It's where the frame and rockers pinch together....

Too bad I didn't do that before hand. I guess it goes to show you don't need actual knowledge of a car to work on it.

F*ck this really irritates me to no end. It's hard enough trying to keep a 14 year old car in nice condition but there is an endless barrage of door dingers, a$$ hat drivers and douche mechanics out to ruin your sh*t.

lol i know what you mean. and its like that weather its a 14 year old car or a brand new car. before my car was painted, it was in and out of a shop for almost a year they put lots of dents and scrapes in the car but i didn't really realize it because i never really had the car. until the previous owner was asking what i was doing to it beating it up so much.

Then last month, this is after Ive had my car painted no dents or anything now, i parked next to this GIANT truck. it was so big i was like "no was in hell this guys door gonna hit me". when i came back i noticed this little dent that was really high along the rear pillar of the car. In between the rear quarter window and back window, it was almost at the roof of the car.

I WAS SO MAD it was that damned truck that fa**t actually hit me. i wasn't even that close to him. i guess people with big trucks just like to rip their door open and let it swing freely in the air as there scaling up the tire to reach the seat.

good luck with getting something taken care of for the repairs.

i think im going to invest in one of these... the damn thing works with a tube hooked up to your exhaust and you just run the car. no way that can be as harsh on framerails as a metal jack. and its way lighter too, i bet its great for the track.so f***in dumb, i dont know why i didnt think of it first!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOmAe-WKQmo Inflatable Car Jack

Ehhh.... it's not for everyone, you gotta put up with a lot of sh*t to make it 20 years.

If you do congrats I say put that degree to work, I only make around $51K a year and that's after 10years in.

The only reason I stay is because I get to fly and blowing sh*t up is always a plus.

Wow, that really sucks. I jacked my car up by the frame rail for the first time the other day instead of using a pinch weld. My jack destroys the pinch weld. Very glad nothing happened to my car. I need to get a low profile jack so I can jack it up by the crossmember like I'm supposed to.

How is the car supposed to be supported on a lift? It's been about two years since I've had my car on one but I'm pretty sure I remember the lift "arms" being under the frame rails.

I started testing them back in 2001 in PaxRiver Maryland. Camp Pendleton is the only base to have them and we recieved the first ones in summer of 2006.

SOOOOO much better than the old UH-1N models.

My dad is friends with the guy that runs the simulator room, so I got to mess around with those, needless to say I crashed upon landing... Stupid collector isn't a handbrake. But yeah, go to one of the hangars and see if someone will make you a way b****in titanium frame brace.

everytime i lift my 240, or any car, i lift it from the pinch welds. ive been a mechanic for 8 years and we lift almost all cars by these. it doesent smash the welds cause the weight is evenly distributed.

Someone needs to call Discount Tire and let them in on this little trade secret.

i dont know why they would floor jack it.... i guess thats how they do it at DT. i have a friend that works there and he said they floor jack stuff all the time. i love using lifts. why wouldnt they, its so much easier. hopefully they take care of the problem. most major corporations do.
