I have been running the 16x8.5 +10 offset for almost two years now and love them for what they are, for me they are my winter wheels. But after seeing the GST car running the P45R's I picked up a set of 17x9 and 17x9.5 +12 P45R's as my summer wheel. Personally I think for the price they are a great wheel. The shop where I got mine actually run a couple of time attack cars and use them and have had no problems with them. Feel free to check out my build thread for pictures of the grids. Working on getting pictures of the P45R's this week.

well in response to the pics of the rpfs and the advans any rim is gonna be damaged if you drop a wheel at the track fast enough and clip them, but the oem wheel and the hre are just ridiculous.

to: MGE, is nitto the only tire people who make an 225/40? i can get a discount from the local mustang shop on nitto's, but not like i can get from other people. i looked it up at discount tire and thats the only lister they have for that size, there normally who i use since i get the hookup. i mean they put a set of tires on my moms benz for 300 mounted and balanced

^^^ Damn, that's crazy. I didn't realize how rare that tire size was. I'm gonna stick with 235/40's on a 17x9...

i wouldn't recommend 225/40 for the front. nitto is the only company that makes them and they are overpriced for what you get... so ive heard.

235/40 for the back sounds good, but you might want to think of 235/40, 215/40 or 215/45 for the front.

For reference, 235/40/17 all around on 17x9 +12 (P45R). Just a little rubbing at full lock on inner fender well (rear of front tire).

Looks paper thin.

Before this turns into "OMG rims are rims blah blah blah. other wheels blow up too!"

I know, I'm not trying to start s***, just simply make people aware.

ZootedS13 wrote:ok im not trying to be a d!ck whatsoever so ill start by saying those rims are sexy as hell, but i dont see any "ewww rota" flamage going on so i have to ask. has rota shaped up their image? i heard they break (not often but easier than others) and if i type in rota in google search i get this

but then i see cars like this running them witch without a doubt, put them through hell. AND i read that rota makes Toyota oem wheels as well

sorry for thread jack, i just want some nice 4 lug rims until i get a better job and all the "rota sucks" flamage is the only reason i havent ordered them yet
If you hit anything hard enough, it will break. Its just elitest haters posting pictures like that and saying rota's are crap.

Yes they are knock offs, but that does not mean they are junk. I have seen many uber expensive wheels break. How many rally cars have you seen with shattered wheels. Those guys run Prodrive, OZ, Speedline, and Team Dynamics wheels. All high price makers, and I bet they have the strongest of the strong.

Aluminium breaks, I dont care what anyone says.

I like a 235/40 on a 17x9. Depending on the brand of tire, it could be a very slight stretch or perfectly square. If it rubs, negative camber, rolled fenders and a big effin hammer are your friends. No big deal.

Here's some 17x9 with 235/40 tire pics from Rimtuck.com for reference:Thanks Panda!

I like mild stretches like this and this tire size is easy to come by.

Where can I find these bad boys online? I don't see them at discount tire, and I don't even see them on the Rota site
