**** teh crank collar apparantly mine was one of the ealier R34 motors that wasn't fixed

crank snout

oil pump

so, yeahshould be a little longer before its in the car looks like i'll be getting the crank machined with the Jun crank collar fix(problem is finding a decent shop to weld the crank)

hell yeah, i'm stoked! ::sarcasm::

i swear if it aint nothing it's something

..on the plus side though, while i've got the bottom end apart i'll freshen it up a littleshould be getting either CP or RB26 pistonsnew bearings

should hold anything i throw at it and then some

SO IF ANYONE KNOWS ANY REPUTABLE SHOPS (in the nashville area) THAT YOU WOULD FEEL COMFORTABLE TAKING A CRANK TO

...LET ME KNOW!!!!

i think Fuqua off new/old shackle island road is one option

that is all

damn, looks like you're having one hell of a time getting that thing going.

I ending up getting a complete Series 1 motorset w/ 59k miles from JHOT for less than $2k shipped!

superb! I highly recommend them

^^word, congrats. did NESAR ever contact you? i told him to shoot you an offer on a NEO.

i recommend you get the crank snout machined though, a new pump won't solve the problem.

UPDATE:

well, i thought long and hard about it over the last few days and decided to get a set of cp pistons at 9.5:1, pretty much an identical (forged) replacement.

so i called up CP Pistons for a custom set because they don't offer it off the shelf. Since they don't deal with the public they referred me to JGY Customs because that's their closest vendor to me. so i'll be sending #1 and #6 piston to JGY tomorrow, then they send the specs to CP and CP sends me my pistons. the process should take about a month. =(

now that i think about it, if i sent the pistons to a vendor in Cali it might cut down the wait time...

anyway, wanted to get it taken care of so i wouldn't regret it later.should also be getting - Caclico or OEM Main / Rod Bearings- ARP Main Studs / Rod Bolts

might as well go all out and get the rods cryotreated..........fully built son!

can't ****ing waitthis next month will be an anxious one

^^ exactly

because i went with the rb26 crank with the good oil drive and the rb25 pistons wouldn't work because of the wrist pin. i could've bought used rb26 pistons, but couldn't find any at the time and because this summer i'm looking to boost the motor pretty hard for a WHILE (past 17lbs.) and don't want a ringland to implode

as far as plans, i'm going to go ahead and assemble the short block on my day off next week, order an N1 oil pump, make a baffle in the oil pan, tap the rear of the head and slap in a 90 degree fitting for an oil drain, and port match intake/exhaust ports. hopefully by then i'll have those damn restrictors and can put the head back on.

small update, got the motor back after RPM in mt juliet assembled..

- rb26 crank- cp pistons- standard 26 rods- ACL main/rod bearings- ARP main/rod bolts- had the head/block hot tanked and resurfaced- rotating assembly balanced ( really don't think was necesary )

little over $500 later and BAM!

i chose to tap the rear of the head to fit an external oil drain to the sump...woot

i'd like to have it in the car on mounts by this weekend, but more than likely will just paint the block, assemble it and get it ready for next weekend.

i've still got to get my harness back from carl, tap the oil pan for the return line...what else, i think that's it. oh, also port match ex and intake ports/manifolds

How much did all that run you about? I might just replace my internals for the hell of it since the motor is going to be out.

so we got the motor on mounts tonight... so close yet so far.

on to the pics

mounts fit like a glove

a little persuading of the firewall for the oil drain to clear, damn close and what a PITA that was.

oodles of clearance i plan on running 2 12" pullers.

can't wait to trash this pos

and the money shot

alot of small stuff now..hard ****'s outta the way. this week ill probably spray bomb the valve covers again, clean up the bay, bolt up the trans x-member.... and bust a nut on my motor

looks good. dunno about "oodles of clearance" for 2 12" pullers though. it looks like a lot of room till you put the crank pulley on and the radiator in. unless you're running a stock radiator and/or cutting the radiator support, pullers aren't happening.

thx manyeah, not oodles, just more than i expected at first..

I might have to trim the shrouding on the e-fans. Gary at Syko said he fits 12" FAL pullers by just trimming the backside of the shroud.Still waiting on my fans to get here and I'll throw my crank pulley on and test fit the radiator. It's a griffin, the width looks similar to the stocker. If it doesn't fit, I don't mind notching the rad support.
