heres my question....if racing is a big part of why some of you guys buy a car....why the alti?...it certainly aint a racer in any scence of the word....its a peppy little machine...but not a competiton vehicle unless its converted...i mean i havent seen altimas ....in any form...in competiton..unless u count funny cars...with an alti shell...the car "stock" aint made for the stresses of racing...if any of you have looked at the stock suspension....ud see that...hence alot of the conversions on here....endlinks, sway bars and such...judgin' by the way some of you describe your "racing"....u need more than a 1/2 diameter link to hold ya steady and the stock breaks?....lol...we all love our cars and the gracefulness of them...but lets not think lookin fast means bred to be fast...theres more to intake and mufflers that make a race car...

and we arent even touching on the safty end of things!

for craps sake...those of you who race at a regulated track make you ..wear a helmet..take everything out of the trunk and cabin...why?...hmmm

driving is a responsiblity....to everyone..even ur pretty coupe!

no, you only have to wear a helmet when your quicker then 14.00 (when your in the 13's or faster) and if you're 11.5 or faster then you need a roll cage. my car is stock except for exhaust and that doesn't turn a car into a beast on its own so i mean, why would Nissan make a car that can't handle itself in stock form? isnt that a bit of a liability?

i wanted a Mustang but after one of my brother's totaled his and my other brother blew his engine in his mustang, my dad said no to Mustangs. went to the Nissan dealership and fell in love with the altima coupe, my dad tried to get me a 2007 350z (last year) but i said NO! i want the altima coupe. thing is, i want a fast car BUT it's going to be a daily driver. in my opinion a 350z is a really bad daily driver, no back seat and pretty much no trunk. 3.5se altima coupe is fast stock and can be even faster with some modifications. it has the power, the speed, the looks, the interior, and then the price. it pretty much has the total package. stock it's just as fast as many sports cars, it has a G35 motor in a lighter car and many people have beaten G35's, it's just a tiny bit slower then a 03-06 350z and those are 2 seater sports cars in every sense. so pretty much the speed of a sports car but with the practicality of a daily driver and then theres the looks lol

ok..but bro the other rules apply!..and one big thing...ITS CONTROLLED!we all heard or at least i think we did about the poor dude who blew apart at the track the other day...englishtown no?....im sure a few of you visited the track themselves to race....now...he was hitting speeds that our little runners will never see unless hooked to a few rockets and some steriods.....but, no one...save the driver was injured...translate that a race occuring on the street....ok water down the speed.....and the outcome would be much different....newspaper front page different.,....broken family, dead kids, and one stupid careless driver different.

my heart goes out to scott and his family....as a close family member of 2 drag racers, both of whom are regulars at englishtown, i can say with certainy he knew the possibility of severe injury or death everytime he got in the cockpit....he just didnt take that risk for other people like some of our street racer friends on this forum do!

we all love the thrill... the adrenalin.. the rush we get when we step on it, hear the growl and feel our backs against the seat press back...2.5 or 3.5...5.0 or the rocket good ol' scott rode to heaven....its all the same..the power of a machine under our control..making it move..and do all the things we love to brag about.....

we wouldnt be on this forum or doin the work to our cars that we do if we didnt...

we just have to constantly remember.....that a car like any other machine can kill and destroy....without prejudice or care, it'll plow through a school yard of little kids, or take out a pregnent woman crossing the street, it can burst into a ball of flame from under us at any moment.....it does as we tell it, but like a machine can mechanically fail....

i cant see how zipping around 10 ton trucks weavin in and out of traffic and cutting other people off so u can hit ur hazzards and "own" them anything less than stupid...at the very least..extremely immature and not worthy of the responsibilty a driver lic carries...

now that i got my soap boxin outta the way...some eye candy for the HP nuts...my broiin laws 900hp monster of an engine...

Autocross requires a helmet.

His racing is more like autocross than a drag

and i wear a helmet always....and depending on the drive time..a diaper!

Sounds like big fish stories to me. And I fail to see how weaving in and out of traffic is skill. I guess it's intense to change lanes at a high speed but really? And I'm with everyone else with the doubt that you beat all those cars. Sounds like someones a little full of themselves...

As long as its safe and nobody is in danger or around you I don't have a huge problem with a little friendly street racing.

I prefer more organized stuff myself. Abandoned roads, remote dirt roads that haven't been used in decades.

I've done my fair share of racing and have even raced some of my buddies vehicles who compete illegally (Jag). And no, it's not because of 'the fast and the furious', in fact I've never seen any of those films. I do it sometimes because I enjoy it. Life is short and I'm going to take some risks. I would never put someone innocent in danger unnecessarily, but I have no fear in potentially hurting myself. I know that if something happens I only have myself to blame.

I've taken it to the track before. Our local police service has a thing set up here for people who like to race.

For me, the thrill just isn't the same. It's not as raw, and there isn't the likelihood that your real driving skills are going to come into play.

I know I've fishtailed on old abandoned roads before and come within inches of smashing my back end against a tree, but I've never, ever put a friends life on the line.

If I race, I do it by myself. I won't allow anyone in the car with me. That's the way it is. If anybody gets killed, it will be me.

Some people go to too great a length to convince some people that what they're doing is satanic and they should stop immediately.

Do what you want to do - DO NOT endanger others. If you're willing to put your life on the line and take risks, that's your M.O.

so long story short I can add another notch with the logic of racing in traffic, going to see my headlight guy, yesterday bumper to bumper traffic totally smoked a CL63 AMG. I was in the Left Lane he was in the Middle Lane.... his lane wasn't moving I was 10 car lengths infront of him before he knew what was going on.

Don't be silly.

I doubt anyone thinks that that is considered racing.

Acceleration from a dead stop or acceleration from roughly the same speed from point A to point B is what he's likely talking about.

I find your play on words highly offensive.

If you want to stereotype, at least do it with a shred of credibility.

My fears haven't been realized yet? Is that supposed to be a joke, or do you know me? I've been through more in 19 years than you likely have in your lifetime, or someone twice my age.

So, losing my father at 9 while on family vacation in Seattle, Washington. Having two of my best friends caught in the cross-fire of a gang drive-by shooting on another gang and watching one of them fight for his life for two weeks in hospital before finally letting go. Seeing my mother come with-in inches of her life on two separate occasions due to freak accidents. Having my grandmother and grandfather pass away... all of this in a 10 year time-frame.

You have the nerve to tell me that my fears haven't been realized? How incredibly ignorant of you.

I know what drives me, it's not up to you to decide that. Like I said, I don't put other people in danger because I know what it's like to lose someone close to you. I don't race on streets if there is a single pedestrian or other vehicle around, I simply won't do it.

I do care about my well-being, but again I like to do what I like to do. If that makes me an adrenaline-junkie - which is a term that carries no appeal to me, than so be it.

You know damn well what stereotype I'm referring to. I'm not going to take the bait and amuse you when I have better things to be doing.

Again, you can think what you want, just don't try and convince people that you're right and they're wrong.

Ok, im thinking about locking this thread now...

Gry, although i personally laugh at all your "joking" posts, some members who arent as active dont know you are joking, and take things out of context.

The internet sometimes jumbles things that would be OBVIOUSLY a joke if spoken, but without hearing it and seeing the delivery, it may be mis-interpreted.

IM WATCHING THIS THREAD NOW... DONT CROSS THE LINE GUYS... I still havent had to bring the hammer down on a member, but fighting/bickering about illegal activity (racing off a track) will not be tolerated.
