Man o man..

I've been looking at this car and its growing on me. Why? I paid 42k US( CDN was the same at that time) for a leather package A/C 3.5.

The Genesis coupe is 30k CDN start (This is with current exchange rate, which would make it somewhere around 27-28 in the States)It's a V6 with 308 HP, RWD!!! The tuner market is huge already even before it has released. RWD!RWD!RWD!

However, its a hyundai.

And If I were to trade my coupe in (Which I have a 99% chance of not doing) I would probably get 20k CDN for it. (What a high ROI!)

Anyways, I love the VQ. I'm probably going to wait for a few years and purchase the 370z. (But again, the genesis coupe looks like it can give the Z a run for its money.. Especially if you were to modify the genesis with the price difference between it and the Z)

But above all.. Its a hyundai.

I wonder if we'll be saying that a year from now......................

What is everyones thought on this? (I'm trying not to be A/C biased here..)

I still stand behind the idea that hyundai makes crap that people want to buy and then regret 2 years later...

you already said all that needs to be said on the topic - it's a hyundai!

I do like that it's RWD at that price point, it's a hell of a buy...

keep the a/c, get the Z later!

Chow, the warranty is 66% better than on Altima lolLuxury wise, much more offered than our Altima.

Altogether a smarter buy, but the pricing for the V8 will be closer to 45K.

yeah but the new z has a fatal flaw. it's only a two seater that can't be driven during winter properly.

thats why you should buy the 370z and keep the A/C for the daily driving

That powerful v6 only hustle's the car to 60mph in around high 6s mid 7s sec...it's not a quick car at all. The Hyundai forums were confused as to how it was doing this.

Guys the coupe does not come in a a V8 only, a 2.0L turboed I4 roughly 8.3s in 0-60 and a 310HP V6 that does 0-60s in 6.3s.

A 3.5 AC will do 0-60 in 5.8s.

I was waiting for someone to make this correction, you cannot get a V8 coupe just the sedan.

Nissan's are more reliable, have better resale, and will give you a much better chance of getting laid than any Hyundai.

Yup you are right spock, i went to the site shortly after posting.

If the genesis coupe has 306 hp why cant it beat the AC with only 270 and fwd?

Also what is the zero to 60 for the 2.5 AC, i think its faster than the turbocharged 210hp that does 8.3.

The genesis must be heavy...

2.0 - 32943.8 - 3389

2.5 - 30763.5 - 3241

Could that be why???

The weight difference should not make that much difference the only thing I can think of is the powertrain, or transmission, its just soaking up that power and not putting it to the ground.

The other option is I know there is an SAE HP standard, Hyundai may not be using those standards, so they may say 310, but if they use SAE they only maybe doing 260, I dunno.

I think the best buy is the new 09 WRX...They're wicked nice and fast. Low 13's stock and it runs between a 4.8-5.0 60 time.....Plus that AWD is key in New England.

Meh, RWD in Canada just means I'll be drifting on the roads.. Which is fun for now... Maybe when I'm older I'll hate it but meh.

Also, my prospective 370z will be a trade-in for my A/C. So I wont really have a DD, Ill just rely on the bus for the winter time ( 4-5 months of the year.. lol)

Just goes to show I'm in love with the Z.

And I thought that genesis coupe v6 6.3 sec 0-60 thing was some bogus result. I heard and read about it, but how can that be possible?! with a 200lb weight difference it shouldnt be that bad.. IT must be the transmission or engine that has a very low efficiency. I was thinking that the testers did it really bad.. I've seen the WHP on the genesis coupe and its somewhere around 250-260. So wt?!

From a girl's perspective, I'll verify this 100%. I merely snuffed at my bf's friend when he had a Tiburon. He just traded for an Infiniti G20 and I welcomed him to the Nissan family and now we're the best of buds.

Nah, but most girls (that I'm friends with anyway) don't know the difference between cars and car makes. Actually, a lot of guys I'm friends with don't either. haha. The girls just know whether they think a car is "cute" or "sexy" or not.

yes, I second this, as of now the 09 WRX with its bump in HP is the BEST bang for the buck! 4 doors, big hatch back with looks of space plus recardo seats andsubaru's symetric awd, seriously a steal for what it offers

One of my favorite shows is heavily sponsored by the genesis... it made me sick yesterday watching it.. they zoomed in on the navi screen and push button start...

^^ sarcasm ?

Altima is for people who think push button is a luxury option. Genesis is for people who think chilled seats and self leveling projector headlights are desired options. Am also thinking power and warranty, and Genesis has the upper hand (or tire)

In the end, depending on one's wallet, both are good coupes for A to B Looking forward to race you hehe
