well i was at my girlfriends house last night, and this other girl down the road called and said there was a multi colored 240 creepin with its lights off by my car. Ive only seen two other 240's around, so im wondering if they plan on taking mine.

I walked outside my house one day and there was 5 dudes IN my drive way looking at my car. I asked them "Whats goin on fellas?" and they acted like they were at the wrong house :rolleyes I didn't worry too much because my dad always parks his car behind mine, and my ears are tuned to my cars alarm like a mother bird is to her baby. BTW, that plug wire idea aint bad! :thinker

theft prevention is very important. i would do anything you could think of. kill switches of many kinds, detachable wheel, hell, taking out the ECU wouldnt be a bad idea.

true, but it's a little more trouble...

kill switches and the wheel might not be so bad, or you could get some nerd to make you a password locked ignition, it'd be kinda neat but I know I'd forget the damn thing...

or perhaps get the ultimate in auto security, a 12 ft King Cobra! come on! who's gonna take a car when they see that sucker rear up because some jackass threw an empty cokebottle on him?

Yeah but not with the lights off at night.I had someone do that to me at work. These guys rolled up and were lookin at my license plate and tryin to play it off.He was also lookin inside my car.I went out there which is just like 5 feet from the door and asked if I could help him and he jumped in his car and sped off.I got his license plate though so if anything happens my sister is a sheriff and I got his plates.

My plan exactly :D the crappier and more stock it looks, the better. After that, it's all about the theft deterrents, I know the alarm system I want is rather pricey but the "pain generators" sure will be cool. Kill switches to the fuel pump, on a couple ecu wires etc. are also rather good at making a car a ***** to steal. I especially like the snap on steering wheel idea but it seems a little complicated/expensive.

yeah, alarms are fine, but here are my recommendations:

in israel, where all of my relatives live, it's the law to have a password on your car, it has 5 buttons, is about the size of a turbo timer, and if you dont put in the password then the fuel supply won't work. you just mount it somewhere on your dash, put in the password (all that i have seen have 4 or 5 number codes), it will beep signalling that you have the correct password and can start the car.

a detachable steering wheel helps, but you would probably keep it in your car when you go in to see a movie or anything like that, but still, you could hide it in your trunk.

my best friend's cousin is a mechanic for ford, he puts a kill switch on every car that he buys, there is one either that won't let the engine crank if you are not pressing it (basically what our clutch safety switch does, come to think of it you could just mount that somewhere unseen and in reach) or there is one that if you flip it off, it kills the fuel supply.

come to think of it, if it's a good alarm, one that not only sounds when the car is being broken into but also does one of the above preventative measures, go for that.

put a switch on your MAFs wire. The car will start, but run like crap then die. I've got that basic function when I disconnect my AFC from my dashboard using a standard serial cable connector.

I just setup a series of motion detecting lights around my hous, you can't get anywhere near it without getting lit up like a deer in headlights. It's common knowledge around here who I am and how I handle problems, I know one of the main theives in the hood and I explained to him that if I ever catch somebody messing with my stuff I won't be calling the cops. I know we have a lot of people claiming what they would do yadayada but I have no qualms about killing a man who tries to take something that belongs to me. The body will never be found period.

you know the button that the clutch presses when it is all the way in, that has to be pressed for the car to start? just wire that to a hidden-but-accessable place so you have to press it to start the car.

Related to the security issue. I was going to put a touchscreen fujitsu lifebook laptop in my accord glove box. (before I bought the 240 of course) It would've costed too much and I used the laptop for school, but I was going to have it wired into my stereo and my car battery so I could have a fully operational game/dvd/mp3 player in my car, with wireless keyboard and everything. MY POINT IS : I was also going to eventually wire the laptop to the ignition and have a thumbprint or iris scanner act as the key. http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/security/5c7c/ (iris scanner). That way no one but me could drive my investment off into the sunset. PEACE. Tek

tex, madscientist

Believe me, it's scary as hell when you actually have to pull a piece. I have my concealed carry out here in Colorado and one night in Westminster I had to drop to a knee and take a bead at this guy's chest. He and his "crew" were giving my friend some trouble in the movie theater parking lot and when it's six on one they can think they're really tough.

Police were called and the whole nine yards. I was prepared and willing, but scared as hell. Glock sub-compact 10mm. It's like the wild west, only with lawsuits.

I don't own a gun. I am a very good shot though, four years in the Corps four expert badges. Even if I could buy a gun I would not, my temper is not a good mix with a firearm. The last time I truly "lost it" I destroyed a car with my bare hands, feet and a baseball bat. I've had too many things taken from me, not one more. Now I have had a gun pointed at me, that will definately get your attention.

I've been in that position myself, but it was with my brother at a Circle K. Apparently he looked exactly like the guy that robbed the same store a week ago. 5.0 rolls up and starts yelling to get down............super scary and not only because you have a gun pointed at you, but because they can murder you and get away with it.

"He had a gun, no wait, it was only a quart of chocolate milk."

well i always thought you'd go to prison for killing a man, even if he was prowling on my front lawn.
