Mr1der,

Are you referring to concealed carry without a permit? If not, there are many other states where carrying visible firearm is NOT against the law. I lived in Arizona for several years and at least 1/4 of the people in Tucson wear a piece. The only hassle you get from a cop is because he wants to know what kind so he can check one out himself!!

Other states, like Colorado (my home), Wyoming, Utah and New Mexico "allow" visible carry, but the police will hassle you so much that it's worth the time and effort to get a concealed carry permit. Besides, themadscientist is right, when you get a concealed carry permit you have to take a class (I personally have exhausted the list of classes that the NRA offers on both handguns and rifles) and you have to renew it every two years. Taking firearm classes is a lot of fun, now matter how well versed in guns you think you are, you will always learn something new.

About the theft-deterrents:

I think a very quick and easy thing to do if you don't want to spend any money but don't want anybody to be able to steal your car is to take your fuel-pump fuse (located in driver's kick panel) out if one's afraid of theft. He won't get very far without a functioning fuel pump :)

Luckily I don't have to worry about that crap. I don't think I'd be able to live in a place with creepy criminals wandering around my house/around my yard/around my school/work.

My car gets a garage space but I live in a neighborhood where we leave our front door unlocked at night most of the time and 3 of our cars in our driveway unlocked with the keys in them. That's one of the perks in living in a small, rural, northeastern town.

But yeah--fuel pump fuse.

on my truck ive got an alarm with a pager, that is with me all time (pager has a 1/2mi range) and also ive got a hidden push botton for the starter (still have to have the key also). but a good hidden start button is a good idea, on top of that if i really get worried about my truck being stolen (when i take it out of town/stay at a motel) i take out the distributor wire. But if.. if my truck is not at home in my garage, i park under bright lights, in heavy trafficed areas. I never leave my car in an even semi abandon area. id rather have a ding or a sctarch in the paint than not have my truck at all. but i am thinking about the whole removable steering wheel. but the funny thing is that my killswitch is the hardest thing to figure out.

heres how it works, (dont get any ideas i will shoot on sight).

ive got an actual toggle switch that has to be turned on for the other switch to be engaged, once the switch is on u then have to hold down the horn and the starter will engae ( i have a kill switch for the horn to so i can start it at night and not bug anyone or wake anyone)

it seems complicated, and it was kinda to set it up. but it works good.
