Personal view of mine: there are times when murder is justified...although I probably wouldn't kill someone if they messed with my car or stole it, I would be very inclined to hurt them, badly. You hurt my family though, your a dead man.

okay justified. But i think if you kill that poor sh*thead that tries to steal your car he just won't learn his lesson. But my guess is you will learn something.

I am not employed as a teacher. It is not my job to teach someone that stealing is a bad thing, no. I refuse to sympathize with a criminal. I bust my butt for what I have, I don't steal from others I work for what I want, so can he. Killing is sometimes justified, in the case of theft IMO no. Does that mean I won't kill a man trying to steal from me, nope. Not sure what I would do, it's the things I wouldn't do that freaks me out, I can't rule out anything. This leads me to beleive I am capable of going too far.

I'm not really such a bad guy when you get to know me. I just had a friend shot cause he was stumbling around drunk and fell into someones yard once. He cant drive anymore now.

well that is a very tragic thing. I'm glad to hear he survived and I hope the shooter was prosecuted to the full extent of the law. It doesn't let your freind walk again though and that's the real ***** of it, you can only get so much justice. Luckily for me the gun pointed at me was being held by a trained police officer not some shakyhanded vigilante.

If this damn issue were settled already the NRA would be done for and the second ammendment would be abolished. Fine. Tagteam on the gun issue. I guess you need your guns that much to be special #1 in control guy. Im sorry you had to be in that position but i have my views.

All abolishing the second amendment/getting rid of the NRA would do is take away guns and the right to carry them from at least decently trained, mostly level headed people while the real criminals kept theirs.

Yeah. I'm sure that idea looks real pretty on paper, but you live in reality where anyone can get a gun and get pissed or whatever and shoot some mother fu*ker for looking at him wrong, or walking near your property. Its not the Old West anymore folks.

Hello All,

I realize that I had a small part to play in this new direction that the thread has taken, but maybe we can settle down a little on the whole gun control/2nd Ammendment thing. People will have their opinions on the issue and no matter what anyone says, you can't make someone else see your side or change their mind.

Believe me when I say that I'm not trying to preach torrerance or something like that, but I would like to have just one thing (or place) that I can call my own with-out having to get ruffled up about politics or religion all the time. I can't escape it at work, college or the house. NICO is cool because we can all pick and choose what threads we read, ect so maybe we can continue this discussion somewhere else?

I'll argue my views till the cows come home, but I don't want to hi-jack this thread and hate on other people's views........

If you want to see how crazy some people get with car security and still have rides stolen go to http://www.honda-tech.com. Every day theres a new person whose car got stolen. And half of them have the most elaborate security systems ever. Combinations of removed steering wheel, killswitches, security alarms. I guess it just shows that if someone really wants your car they will get it. Best choice is park your car somewhere that it wont be a target. On honda-tech they discourage posting what mods your car has, and the city you live in. Its that bad. People prowl their boards looking for cars to steal. I hope NICO never has problems like that, but better to be safe than carless.

i dont know where you can get a password device like that here, im sure that you can go to a car audio/security system place and find out more about it, they are bound to have something like that here.

man i think this is getting too complicated. someone up there had a fairly smart n simple idea. just unplug the wires, or disconnect something that obviously wont let the car start. keyless entry would be good too, but i guess if someone really wants the car they'd just break the window. maybe take a wheel off every night [but that would just be a hassle] one of my tires just went flast and is covered in 45 layers of dirt and leaves so i dont think anyone's gonna steal it.. cuz its so camoflauged they cant see it ;)

To help bring the thread back on topic, you should cover up your VIN number on your dash. It can be an easy way into your car.

Apparently some people here in Hotlanta have been getting the VIN numbers for cars, going to the dealership where they know someone, and getting a new key made. Voila.

i read this thread on honda-tech, this guy's car was getting stolen and he saw the guys so he ran outside and beat $hit out of the 2 carjackers. one ended up with a fractured skull and and the car owner went to jail and is probably getting sued. i think its bull$hit, but at least he still has his car.

All of those things are used to kill people too. If you want to kill someone you will find a way to. Period. Do a little research and you'll see the states with the most concealed weapons has the least crime. I think it was Texas. Do you really think that by outlawing guns, all the guns in America are gonna disappear and we'll get no more? Lets take a look at history. Alcohol was abolished in 1918. Between 1918 and 1921 (when the amendment was abolished) alcohol was rampant. Crime rates skyrocketed and bootleggers began running america. Drugs are illegal. Hard to find those? If you want a gun you'll get one no matter one. The only difference is that the good citizens arent going to go searching for illegal weapons, the bad guys will.

I agree with you on everything but that...I know if guns are ever outlawed, the first thing I'm doing is trying to get ahold of one :) (I'm a "good citizen")

My stance on guns is this,

Americans should have the right to own them but, there's always a "but"

Anyone with a criminal record that includes a violent crime; rape, assault etc. cannot own one. As I understand it there is a law on the books about felons not being able to own a gun.

The potential owner must attend a class and pass a very difficult test of gun handling. We have to get a driver's license and a gun is at least as dangerous as a car in the wrong hands.

Gun stores who illegaly sell guns get slammed, first offense you're done. The control of legally sold guns is laughable.

The idea that no guns in the hands of law abiding citizens will magically make violence go away is at best naive and at worst well, retarded. Guns are virtually impossible to own in Japan and yet EVERY Yakuza member has at least one, people are robbed and killed every day at knifepoint. People are violent, they will commit violence and they will use whatever is available. From the first tim Og picked up a rock and clocked Lor for swiping his Bronto-drumstick.

Criminals will get guns, it's a fact of life. Kids will get cigarettes and beer another fact, guys want to see nekkid women on the internet yet another. Blanket prohibition does not work and is a cop out. There are enough laws on the books to manage this but the authorities do not use the tools available to them so giving them more will do nothing but penalize hard-working law-abiding citizens, welcome to North Korea.

I am fully cognizant of my ability to discount the life of another human being if I deem them a threat to me, my family or my property. Armed with this knowledge I choose not to own a gun. It is far too easy to depress a trigger and i wouldn't think twice. There is no coming back from a decision like that. I choose not to carry a gun, a knife, a baseball bat or a pointy stick because armed with only my wit and my body it is much harder to kill or at least requires more effort which gives me time to think about what I am doing. Another advantage is, sometimes people need to shut up and leave other people alone, armed with a weapon people are more brave and confrontational, without they tend to be more amicable to each other least they get an ***-kickin.

yup, it's the truth, look at Britain, one of the highest crime rates in the world now I believe, then look at Vermont, it's got the lowest crime rate, it's also the only state you can legally carry a loaded handgun sans permit, coincidence, I really doubt it.

oh, I still think the King Cobra would be the best means of auto security, being they're farely tame and mild mannered snakes!
