did you figure out if air coming from the valve cover while compression testing is normal?

anyone want to confirm this?

Always excited for someone to get their car running. Hell if you weren't up in Canada, I would be up there with a degree wheel helping out.

well guys.im out

0 compression. bent the valves. by hand. dont ask how. but i spun it over by hand when i put the new cams in and it spun over like normal, tried to fire it, and it just spun, no bang, all you could hear is it spinning fast like it had no compression.

running a compression test tomorrow

That blows, but I have good news... There's a dude selling an S13 head on Zilvia for $300. Snatch it up, unless you plan on rebuilding yours.

i zip tied the chain to the cam gears so it couldnt move, and the cams were torqued down, so its not like they would have moved...you would really have to be out alot on the cam timing for it to drop a valve and bend one...

but is it possible to have it skip a tooth on the crank pulley?

Yeah it can move around on the crank. That really sucks man.

Edit: You may have lucked out and just have everything off. Put the engine to top dead center and count the number of teeth from where the dots are on the gears out to the top of the front cover. Should be 5.5 on the intake and 9 on the exhaust.

you have a Honda, put whatever you want in it. personally, i buy may gas at this thing called a gas station.

the only fluid that you should switch during the winter is your oil(and your coolant if your using water), run a little thinner, it should say in you owners manual.

Chill with the caps lock, and knock off the funny characters to get around the swear filter, it will get you a vacation from NICO. That is all I'm going to say about that.

Burnt, you look into getting adjustable cam gears yet? I was looking at the set of cam gears I have here and noticed that they have 36 teeth or 10* per tooth. Should get you in the right ball park if you wanted to advance a tooth before you get some new gears. I'm wondering if BC just didn't measure the stock equipment right.

Superuser, if you review you original question, it has nothing to do with Burntricers issue at all, you thread jack and then get angry at us??

anyway, enough of that.

how do you know the bc cams need to be advanced? you said you read that the gears could be as much as 8* off, but you didn't say in which direction. Is there a chance that the cams are allready advanced and need to be retarted?

Read in multiple places that when they are degreed in need 11-16* of advance. Only way to know for sure is to get a degree wheel and measure.
