Ok the only thing I have left to hook up is the PVC filter( on the valve cover) that won`t fit because the breather is to big. I went to Home Depot racing and think I have what I need. The only other thing I need is a vacuum source (FMU,BOV and Boost Gauge). The fuel pressure regulator vacuum line is out of the question. It is wedged up to the firewall and I am not going to use it. The only other thing I know to use is the Brake booster vacuum. The only problem with using it is that it has a one way valve. I was told I had to use it before the valve so that it will flow both ways. I was told that the valve was located in the middle of the firewall were the 2 hoses are connected for the brake booster. Anybody got any ideas what I should do. Thanks and I hope everybody gets BOOSTED and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Pics tomorrow if no rain.

I use the brass fitting located in this location for the vacuum source used for my AVC-R gauge (middle braided line). Plenty of room, easy accesibility, right off the manifold:

Ok I don`t know where that is located but here is the pic of mine at that same location. Could you circle it for me?

OK, the line for the FPR can be seen in your pic - the one coming from the firewall. (The FPR nipple is facing into the firewall.)(Parallel to the ECU/injector wiring which is immediately above).

That very line begins where I mentioned mine is. To be more specific on mine, I'm speaking of the braided line that's even in height with the union of the upper/lower intake manifold. You'll see 2 lines are ziptied. The 1 on the left is the T'd vacuum for the AVC-R. I could've used a multi-juction T but didn't need it. You will if you want to hang off your BOV, etc.

She is running now! I have one oil leak and a power steering leak. I bought a autometer boost gauge and it doesn`t have a fitting to connect to a vacuum hose(WTF is with that!!!!). My neighbor`s friend came across the street after I fired it up because it was so loud( All I have connected is a 3 inch downpipe). He was working on a mustang and getting it ready to race next spring. Anyway after talking to him he tells me he has a SR motor laying in his garage needing to get rid of it. It was running but was smoking real bad. By the way he works for nissan as an engineer body fabrication. Dam I need to talk to neighbors more often.

Where is your oil leak coming from? What caused the PS leak?

Anyway, nice job. Can't wait to see how the car performs on the dyno. This is the BD kit, right?

Sorry I am usually online everyday but have been so busy trying to finish the project. I am going this morning to get my exhaust system hooked up to the new downpipe. Yesterday I had to find a npt 1/4 thread to connect to a vacuum hose for my boost gauge. Wouldn`t you know they don`t supply that in the auto meter gauges. 2nd I could not find anybody to connect my exhaust system without the cat. So I had to go out to the storage and find my exhaust and thankfully I did not throw out the cat. This morning I have to hurry and get my car at the shop on time and waite and go back home swap cars and go to work.

As far as AIM I use yahoo. I will be busy since I haven`t been to work in a week. So maybe I can call you on the phone later this week. Let me know.

I plan on doing a write up on it as soon as I am done with the project. There are still some things that I need to finish before I do the write up. Everybody needs to keep in mind that this is my first turbo project. I have no prior turbo experience. This morning I drove the car to an exhaust shop and had them connect a 3 inch down pipe to a 2 1/2 BRM exhaust. They did a great job on it. I still have a bad oil leak. It is on the drain side. I think I just need to put some pipe sealer on it and there may be a oil pan leak as well. I need to set the timing and replace my spark plugs. I need to reroute some vacuum lines and get a couple of more clamps. Washers need to be added to the bov as well. By the way that PHSSST sound is COOL!! When everything is working right I want to put it on the dyno and get some numbers. My goal is to get everything done in a couple of weeks. It all depends on the weather and how much time I have to take off work.

Kick ***.are you running the 12:1 FPR that comes with the stage 1 kit? are you running a cat with your exhaust or did you connect the downpipe strait to the exhaust and leave the cat out? a writeup would be awesome, let us know what you ran into that took up time so the rest of us noobies can get through the install a little faster

Yes I am running the 12:1 FMU that comes with Stage 1 kit. I purchased the Stage 1 kit and using everything that comes with it. This morning I had somebody install a 3 inch pipe connected to my 2 1/2 exhaust and yes I do not have a cat. Yes I plan on doing a full write up to help noobies like me.

I was misinformed about the cat. I was told that if you remove the cat yourself that any shop would weld a pipe for you. It is against the law to bypass the cat. You will need to take your cat with you have them install it then buy a test pipe to replace the cat. The cat has bolts on both sides so if you need to pass emissions just bolt it back on.

Another note last night I saw and heard an EVO phssst making a quick turn into a restaurant. It did sound good. It is weird I never heard the phssst sound on anybodies car before until I heard mine this weekend.

i had the local mineke weld up a pipe from my downpipe straight to my exhuast. yes you are suppose to have a cat. there are of course places that will let you slide.

Just a quick progress report. Sorry for taking so long but I do have a full time job and a side job. I have several problems that I need to fix.

1. Self inflicted oil leak. I hope it is just the return line needing some teflon tape and not the freakin pan.

2 Overheating. This problem will be fixed today. I ordered a nismo thermostat and radiator cap total cost around 98bucks(OUCH!). My radiator overflow fell apart and needs to be replaced. I decided to remove the fan shroud and mechanical fan. It is so much easier to work on the car. I would recommend everybody ditch that stuff if you are going turbo.

3. connect the downpipe to existing BRM 2.5 exhaust system. That was finished Tuesday morning. Total cost 90 bucks and yes my cat is sitting in the passenger floor now. Woo Hoo

4. Self inflicted timing issue. I adjusted the timing to 15 degrees instead of leaving it alone. Now I am having trouble getting the car to idle at 700 rpms.

5. Self inflicted wrong spark plugs. Need to replace spark plugs that are incorrect.

6. Replace starter this was giving me problems before the install but I didn`t want to replace it until after the project was finished. Maybe not such a good decision. 120 bucks at Southern Armature and 50 bucks for install guaranteed for 1 year. Better then Autozone because I never got one from them that I didn`t have to replace more then once.

More on progress tonight. Hopefully good news.

Update

1. Replaced thermostat and radiator cap with nismo parts. Still overheats missing the overflow container.

2. Replaced coil with MSD SS. I had a 71 dollar credit at SECO and wanted spark plug wires but it was a special order. Also got a mechanical fuel gauge. I needed it for Saturday when I take the car to the Dyno for tuning. Had to go to home depot to find npt fittings to hook it up in my fuel system. It started to leak when I hooked it up last night. So I am hoping one of the building maintenance persons at my work can solder it for me.

3. Found several leaks in the intercooling setup. A friend of mine told me a trick in finding air leaks. Use a carb cleaner and spray around area you suspect and watch for bubbles or the engine rpm may rise a few hundred rpm.

4. I had to redo my oil drain line. I don`t think I used enough teflon dope. It seems to be ok for now.

5. Saturday morning I plan on going to the Dyno to do some tuning.

I will keep you posted on the progress.

I plan on it hopefully things will go well at the Dyno Saturday and I can give you the results. Only thing I need to do is hook up my fuel gauge again with new t connector and my radiator overflow container. I hope the overheating issue is resolved or I will have to tow it to the Dyno. It is located about 30 miles from my house. May be this cooler weather will help. I am so ready to go out and kick some butt!!

You are only a hour away from me. I was at the Dyno today and had lean issue that we could not fix. It would start going lean after 3500 RPMs. We tested the FMU and it only went to 50lbs. I think it is suppose to go to 70lbs but I am going to do a little research. I hope to have it resolved this week.
