Hi, all.

By the way, folks, I hope this thread has not gone silent because of my long heated posts. I certainly am not as heated about this topic as I may have come across, and don't want to stifle open discussion.

I also clearly want to point out that if Hasan's actions clearly get proven to be something that need to be addressed beyond him getting the death penalty, then I will support what needs to be done. Very vocally too!

In the meantime, I continue to offer my prayers and condolences to the families who lost loved ones and those who were injured at Fort Hood. And how to prevent recurrences should be the thing that is focused on.

Regardless of how this pans out, the fact remains that a lot of people lost a son, a brother, a friend on that day, and this man's actions (regardless of what drove him) have changed the mindset and the tone of our military for the worse.

His behavior struck at the very core of one of our safest and most secure places... and did a grave and unforgivable disservice to every Muslim soldier in the US military.

If the intentions of this shooter were to strike fear in our troops and create a state of panic by carrying out his evil deed ON a military base, then he has succeeded.

As such, he is, by definition, a terrorlst.

1. a person, usually a member of a group, who uses or advocates terrorism (defined as the unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person... against people... with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons).

That is what the civilian world would call 'gas'. Don't confuse the two.

That is absolutely accurate. He has created a concern where none needed to exist - ever!

I am still note sure of this yet ... but I don't know with certainty.

There are now some indications that he was swayed by the teachings of an extremist Internet "preacher" ... let's find out more about where this goes.

He studied Muslim extremism, he spoke with Muslim extremists, he vocally condemed the war, he admires the terrorists that strap bombs to themselves and kill innocent people to the point of calling them heroes. What aren't you sure about? No offense Z, but there is nothing to be undecided about and there hasn't been for atleast 2 days now. Just because he wasn't directly working for a terrorlst faction does not mean he isn't a terrorlst.

This SOB is a terrorlst period. Did people jump to conclusions early on? Yup, but they were right this time.

You may be right. But, I'd still like to see more accurate information about it ... do you have specific links?

You are correct. Here is the viewpoint of another Muslim soldier at the base: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/....html

Sorry Z, I just read whatever is in front of me at the time. I've been trying NOT to read the news lately, but there was no missing this incident.

Yeah. The more I find and read about it, the more sad and angry I am about this. Hasan will get, and deserve, the justice he finds here and in hell. I have no sympathy for him whatsoever.

Maybe, but I dunno. Now it seems like there were enough indications of a potential problem, but it is never easy to see the worst in people ahead of time.
