It does manage to fit in my jacket pocket, but it sticks out like a sore thumb. The top one third of it pokes out and looks tacky and feels like I'm shoplifting. It would, however, slip right into the front pockets of my hoodie, though in that situation it would fall out too easily. Really though, I just carry it in my hand. The distance from the car to wherever I'm going is rarely more than a few feet, and if its school-related or if I'm traveling then my bag is already with me.

I otherwise use my little Blackberry for reading Kindle books. Its sufficient for a killing a couple minutes waiting in line.

The biggest issue I have with the iPad is the weight. It slips into a binder just fine, but the binder then becomes an anchor. Not a big deal when sitting down and using it since the cover flips and folds to create a stand, but carrying it feels really bulky. I'd like a larger display without a 10lb battery.

The great thing about a 9-10" display is that you get to enjoy a desktop-like viewing experience. You can see more objects on the screen and manipulate them (GREAT for maps, charts, inventory lists, order lists, and spreadsheets) while the Nook's size is just right for emulating a book. At smaller than 9", manipulating a spreadsheet full of data requires a lot of annoying scrolling. Its doable but tedious, which I'd excuse on a smart phone but not a tablet.

I'm looking forward to when medical charts are universally handled on a large tablet, replacing 8.5x11 sheets of poorly photocopied paper with color scans, diagrams, and images.

See I can see the smaller screen being a possible annoyance for those things you mentioned, it wouldn't bother me personally, for what I would be using one for but for somebody that would rely on it regularly I could see where 9-10" tablets would be more useful.

I hope to see more businesses, hospitals, and ect using tablets more as well. I already have been seeing some making the transition around here and it will be a great tool to make records a lot easier to access and I can also see it being very useful for verification as well. The applications for one in the medical field alone will be amazing. If Adobe would make a good working version of Photoshop(one that actually creates layered files and ect) for a tablet I would buy it immediately, no matter what platform it's on.

I've heard of restaurants taking orders on iPads, but I'm pretty sure they just do it to be douchey. :chuckle:

I have a Droid 2. It's nice.

What's with all this "rooting" and crap? The regular interface works great...

It's called rooting because it grants access to the root directory of the OS. This allows you do to things you couldn't before, like manually adjusting clockspeed, changing system files, making backups of your apps, and other useful things. Rooting is NOT the same as running a custom ROM. When you root your phone, you're still running whatever OS was on it before the root, but now you can do more with it. However, root access is necessary in order to run custom roms.

Beautiful widgets or SiMi clock shows both time and weather. Also the weather channel app is better when you need a more reliable forecast. I'd recommend beautiful widgets for what you're wanting.

Hmmm ... Bit late for my comment, but why did you not wait a tiny bit longer? For the Android Bionic (dual-core 1GHz mobile processor in it :chuckle:) that is!

Provides very fast data connections on the new Verizon LTE network ...

I always recommend people wait till after the CES in Las Vegas to get new phones ... :yesnod

I've finally set up my phone the way I like it. I use Launcher Pro, Better Cut , Tajm, BattStatt, Switch Pro, and these buttons I found here (http://www.droid-den.com/android-guides ... n-icon-set) to make a clean look....still want to find something non-root and free that changes my notification bar color at the top of my Droid X to something other than silver.

There is also the weather and toggle widget. I used it to get the home page look of the HTC Sense UI.

A couple of apps I didn't see mentioned:

PdaNet - for USB or BT tethering.
Timerrific - Allows you to turn your sounds on and off on a schedule so you don't forget to turn your ringer on and off for work, school, etc.

Tether has been released for Android. If its as good as the blackberry version, then its worth it.

Could you kind of tell me launcher pro does? I went to their website, but it doesnt say much about the actual app

is Tajm just a clock?

How does better cut work? It looks like it is a simpler way to do common tasks..is that right?

Also how do I make my home screen look like this? as well as doing the buttons like that in the red "box"

With USB tethering you can charge the phone at the same time, which makes sense if your phone is going to be near your laptop anyway. I tether over bluetooth when I'm too lazy to plug the cable in, but it seems silly to drain the battery by not having it connected to the computer.

Usually when I'm tethering there is more then one laptop connecting. So Wifi makes sense. I completely understand what you're saying.

I usually leave my phone plugged in to the wall and sitting in the best reception location when wifi tethering.

Launcher Pro is a launcher, which replaces HTC Sense or whatever launcher your phone uses. With it you can customize how many home screens you want, what icons you want on your dock, things like that. I use it instead of Sense and love the cleaner look, and the ability to have buttons I actually use on my dock instead of stuck with the Sense buttons.

As for that homescreen the widget plastered all over that screen is Battstatt if i'm not mistaken (which I don't think I am since I'm using it hah). Not too sure about the launcher button at the bottom though, and the icons look like they were downloaded from a pack and used.

Hope this helps a little!
