That age thing is no excuse. My brother is 16 and he can comment. Take some time from the cool a55 animes, and take some time with your roots. Great movies, very memorable, and make great conversation.

If you watch the movies, try it on DVD and make sure you watch the special edition, if not the graphics and camerawork will be too outdated for youngsters.

I hate anime, so that's no excuse.

I just don't have a lot of time to watch movies.

blanket statements don't sit well with me. . . unless you've given it a fair shot then don't slam the whole genre. . . although i'd have to agree that there's a ton of crappy anime out there, there's quite a bit that rivals even the best Hollywood movie. . .

go check out some Miyazaki at least. . .

ok. . i'm off my soapbox now. . . let the thread continue. . .

Anime to me is like the indie film genre. Not for everyone, mostly crap, but riddled with gems that "box office busters" could not match.

I have more Anime and Indie films than I have multi-million dollar flicks.

Sorry crypt2k, That was my ADHD acting up again. I will try to stay on topic, and encourage everyone to do the same.

Oh, and I work at Bellsouth now, but once had a job at a video store. People like Mr1der were my best customers.

I was looking at another thread (the god one) and was thinking about what kind of impact that would have on this thread.

Do the Predators have a Religion? Do the Aliens thank god if they kill something?

This is strictly what if, but what if Jesus and an Alien or a Predator were in a room together? Who would win then?

f8sjester wrote:as ridiculous as this thread is. . .*sigh* here goes. . .

in a confined space like a raquetball court, alien would probably have the advantage.

1) greater reach (swinging tail) 2) faster/more agile 3) more weapons (tail/claws/teeth) 4) acid blood

even if the predator were to wound/incapacitate the alien, the blood spray would probably ***** up the predator pretty badly in such a small space (no, predators aren't immune to alien blood), especially if the predator is naked!

intelligence of the predator doesn't really apply here. . . it's not like it could plot out some complicated scheme to ambush the alien or something. it's a confined room. basically a no-holds-barred brawl. . .

if you give the predator its usual assortment of weapons then the playing grounds would even out drastically. . .

Good tactical analysis.

I agree Alien under thses condtions wouldnt even break a sweat.

Fred..:)oh wells. . . happy debating. . .

well this is where i have to disagree with you fred. intelligence does play a role in this, might not be a big one but it is a factor. the predators have beening hunting the aliens forever...like an on going rivalry. in that time span i'm sure they musta, at one point in time, captured an alien and studied it. studying the anatomy of the aliens, c'mon the aliens can't be made of acid all over, and weaknesses.

i'm not saying just because i'm smarter than a bear i can get in a fight w/ one and come out victorious. but what i am tryin' to saying the fact that i know one kick in the pants will bring down anyone; does give me advantage don't you think.

i know i shouldn't post off topic but couldn't refrain myself. anime...yea there's alot of junk in this genre. for ex sailor moon, pokemon, etc (i'm sorry if you're into that...). like crafter said there are lost gems in the genre. honestly...recently i've seen a couple of animes that IMO i think are alot better than most of the summer blockbusters this year.

Anime, I gotta get in on this. My advice on anime If it is fronm the early to mid 90's and it is only a movie, or 2 episode OVA chances are it is crap. Series are what to watch. Ok just felt like throwing im my anime 2 cents. :batman

I totally agree w/skwerel. Also a lot of 80s series are great too but some not as good as the newer ones. And for the comment on sailor moon/pokemon all I have to say is that Ive watched them every once and a while and they did what they were supposed to and that is to hook the kiddies and make a lot of money off them and pokemon is showing no sign of stopping. I even spent $500+ on those damn cards out of my pocket and enjoyed every minute of it. Pokemon just started a new season again! The kiddies are hooked. And that new **** Beyblade.... Kiddies are eatin that **** up too. There about 7-10 of those tops in my house and I have to say that they're a great way to play with the kids. They arent bad cartoons either. Its just what you prefer to watch. Hmmmmm......a little more than $.02. Maybe $.04.

I like kind of movie, be it animated or live action, so long as it has a captivating story, or atleast a lot of boobies.

I still feel a predator would beat that *** too, hell, they probably have a martial art for the sole purpose of beating down the aliens...

The man vs. bear analogy doesn't really apply here, I don't think. According to the graphic novels, Preds are fairly large (most are 7 ft.+) and possess extraordinary strength, speed and agility. As I said before, a pred is strong enough to lift vehicles and jump two to three stories up. They're also capable of running up to 50mph and quick enough to dodge bullets. Of course, in the movies they were totally unable to re-produce a realistic Pred because there wasn't any CGI advance enough to produce it, it was some big, clumsy guy wearing an alien suit. The acid won't effect them all that much either because not only are they immune to it, but they elephant hide that's croc-tough. If you were to compare a Pred to any other comic book character, the Pred is basically a larger, stronger, faster version of Wolverine minus the regenerative abilities.

Stomach acid (hydrochloric acid) is strong enough to process steel and other metals, but you don't see it burning a hole in your gut do you? Again, according to the graphic novels, they produce counteragents that abate (to some extent) Alien blood.

perhaps it'll show up in the A Vs P movie where a pred hocks a lougie on a marine because there was only one pred and he teams up with the Marines because the preds aren't tarded

oh yeah, spitting on him would be to counter the acid blood, I reckon it could be a Japanese Marine that was done with the sword use of something and he and the pred get all samurai on the aliens...

I'm open to flaming now...
