You and I both have the same opinions and love the same cars.simmode1 wrote:
Sigged!
I arrived at this opinion after considering buying an SC300/400 this summer. Yes, it's more luxurious than a 240, but I'd still manage to turn it into another toy.
As I advance in age and acquire more responsibilities, I find it neccessary to own a car with more utility and comfort along with performance potential. Therefore, this summer, I'll be selling my s14 Zenki to get a 2nd gen GS400. But I hope to keep my s13 forever!
That's funny, you sigged my dumb comment. The plan's to have a comfortable and fun daily. That's why I want to get a Corvette. My wife already has a Sentra SE-R and a Murano, so I have my practical cars already, but they're just not much fun to dd in. I like luxury, but I think they're just too overpriced and I feel like you'd have to keep upgrading every few years with a luxury car.simmode1 wrote:I'll be 30 this summer and I feel where you're coming from, man! At our age, I think it's important to consider our 240's toy cars which are not meant to be your primary form of transportation.
At the same time, I don't think you should just go out and add another newer toy car to the stable, which is what the Corvette is... another toy. No the cool factor for 240's was way before Tokyo Drift. It was back in the late 90's to early '00s when it was rare to have a modded 240 and even rarer if you had a SR20. For a short while there, 240's with SR20's were viewed up there with MKIV Supra's and FD RX7's. Atleast where I was at.freakyjason wrote:Where was I for that? That probably subsided sometime around when Tokyo Drift came out.
Let's keep in mind that I'm a cheap-a** 240 lover. So that means I ain't paying more than $8.5k for a '98-'99 v8 model. As far as upgrading to a new Luxo-car... man, Imma rock dat ho until the wheels fall off! lolS14toRPS13 wrote: I like luxury, but I think they're just too overpriced and I feel like you'd have to keep upgrading every few years with a luxury car.
At that age, I thought I'd be dd my 240 forever . I don't plan on getting rid of my 240 either, but just like older muscle car guys. Eventually, you have to get a more practical daily driver and turn your toy car into just a weekend car . These cars are only getting older and with the abuse we put them through, we can't expect them to be dd forever either. I hate time.S13k wrote:17 and have no plans on getting ride of my 240 no matter how old i get
i remember when it was unknown here loland when people first started doing it and info started seeping around to people, everyone was in awe. it was a huge deal to have a sr swapped 240sx, and later on if you passed one with a BOV everyone in the car would be all "holys***, turbo" haha...now its completely commonplace.S14toRPS13 wrote: and even rarer if you had a SR20.
NOOOOOOO, you can't be getting rid of your 240?!! Well, whoever buys it, sure will get a quality 240. What are you thinking of next?Broadfield wrote:I was young at one time if that counts for anything . I find it funny how a lot of young members think I am rich because of all of the money I have into my car....... I'm just old! I always tell them, "By the time you get to 35, you will most likely make more money than me, and modding an old-a** 240 will be nothing."
With that being said, I think it's time to put the S13 up for sale this summer and move onto something else
