From my experience with them on a 2006 the M45 and M35 are quite different. The G's share a similar setup to the M35 in bolt patters and size. The M45 however is much larger unit, with larger bolts, and different bolt pattern. This is due to the 45 having larger axle's. I think I remember the end that connects to the driveshaft being slightly different as well.
It can be done using a G35 rear differential, but you also much replace your axle's with it to get the bolt pattern right. In addition to this, the axle's must have the proper spline count on the end so they fit properly. You may end up breaking an axle after a while though as you have a lot of power and would be moving to a smaller axle that isnt designed for the power it is getting.
