So a couple weeks ago I mass mailed a bunch of online retailers regarding information and release date for AEM part # 21-499. I finally got an e-mail back today from Dezod motorsports stating that it was just released today.
Dezod wrote:This item appears to have been just released by AEM. We just received the press release today for the item. Here is ordering information and a link to it on our website: AEM's gains: 6HP, 6.7 TQ; 61% more air flow
http://www.dezod.com/pd-aem-co...8.cfm

I'll contact them again to verify this is the correct part for our vehicle.

One of us will have to contact AEM directly. If no one has by the time I get back home I will.

Well it has arrived, aem's intake consists of an normal shortram w/ an air duct from the front grill ducts, which in my mind is a little too much ($377+S/H) for such design and Im sure alot of people will fab up their own setup similar to these. Nevertheless it's the only "cold air" one out there in the market

I contacted AEM about doing this over a year ago, they showed some interest and then never got back to me.

theyve got my attention, its a dryflow filter woot. As for the price.. the K&N is supposedly gonna be around 250-280, and it doesnt have the extra piping and new ram portion like the AEM includes. All being polished tubing as well, the price sounds reasonable when compared with other similar designs/costs. Im up for par if this is gonna be available for the 2.5!

Like I said they have done extensive R&D on this intake. A few months ago they were in the test fitting stage. Which the intake is now available and the part number is 21-499.

Just got off the phone with AEM. Sales rep stated that this will fit the 3.5 coupe and sedan with cvt or manual transmission. I wouldn't call this a 100% confirmation as it sounded like she was in a hurry to get out the door for the weekend. The rep is supposed to be sending me a technical article on the product and will post as soon as I receive!

The AEM site has not been updated as this part has just become available today. I've been in talks with Dezod and AEM most of today. This is a confirmed part. I'm awaiting on an e-mail from an aem rep that will give us more technical info.

Ok guys. Here's a deal. A guy from JKG Racing might offer a group buy for this new AEM CAI.

LBC EDIT: without a mod getting involved, there will be no such GB

I'll definately be purchasing one.

Mods - can you combine the two AEM threads to maximize exposure.

Thanks!

I think from the Dezod web site there is a chance. In the other forum he was talking about it but since mods here go crazy for posting other sites I won't do it.

That's a nice looking piece. Not sure why they are calling to cold air though. In my book, technically the filter element should be down farther outside of the engine bay all together. This does look like it will aid in airflow quite well though.

Isnt there a K&N one that looks almost exactly the same for the 2.5
