The AEM EMS for the S13 240sx and any other Nissan 4cyl that uses the same ECU plug (almost all pre '95 Nissans) is in pre production. The Beta boards are being built and if everything is alright, they will go into production. ETA is ONE MONTH. FINALY it will be plug and play for us.

The S14 ('95 and newer) is slated to be availble about a month later.

This is the system that will put the 240 on the map! If you think that its hard to get a good price on a 240 now, wait till there are multiple 600 WHP 240s gracing the covers of all the magazines.

Dude....get off the boards and hurry up. I'm thinking about recommending that your user name be banned just so you finish quicker...lol. Seriously, a bolt in standalone is exactly what we need. If you guys can get the price down under $2000 you'll have a really good market.

Quick question, the AEM EMS is MAP sensor based correct? I may just buy one myself and use it. Mixed with Methonal I'll be able to do some serious damage. Again...HURRY UP.

Oh yeah, I did a quick search through the sponsors, no one sells the AEM EMS. SO feel free to go into detail about the system. It being such a leap forward for the 240, I don't think anyone will mind. I'll handle the mudd slinging if any comes around.

Thanx Brian.

The AEM EMS is a slick stand alone system. Its designed to work with ANY sensor. You configure the EMS to read and use either factory sensors or any aftermarket sensors. The EMS will come with a base map to get your car running if its STOCK. If you already have injectors, turbo, etc, you will need to configure a few things.

The EMS is in no way JUST designed to use a map sensor. If you like, you can use your stock MAF, Cobra MAF, etc. It makes total sense to swap out your MAF to a MAP though. You can use just about any MAP you want. AEM has a quick config table for most of the popular sensors ie GM 1, 2 and 3 bar, Calvico 5 bar, AEM 3.5 bar, stock Honda MAPs, Toytoa MAPs, even the HKS VPC MAP.

When taking out a factory MAF you not only need the MAP but also a way to measure air tempatures. Again, AEM has a quick config table for most popular IATs the most popular and least expensive is probably the GM IAT.

The AEM will also drive any high impedance injector. If your planning on running big injectors and dont want to spend the money for high impedance injectors over 50lbs, you can get low impedance and then add a resistor pack like the Mitsu pack for the ETL turbo 4cyl (list price is 79 bux) to keep the drivers on the EMS happy and working correctly.

You can have your AEM EMS tuned at a dyno using the shops wide band, but its much better to have one on your car for keeps. Again, the AEM EMS is configurable to just about any wide band out there. Popular ones being the AEM UEGO, FJO, etc. This will allow you to always monitor your A/F ratio.

The EMS will read all your factory sensor and you can add sensors to the mix. There is an option for having EGT feedback that will alter timing and or fueling based on what it sees and you program it to do. Knock sensor feed back is also a great feature. Works basically the same way.

Pricing will probably be simular to the Honda / mitsu boxes so figure a selling price of 1400 to 1600 bux. It depends on retail price from AEM. There is a pricing contract you have to sign and obey in order to be an authorized dealer. AEM WILL pull the plug on dealers not abiding by the pricing agreement. Add the AEM UEGO w/ gauge and a MAP sensor and IAT with harnesses for both and your somewhere around $2000.00. A package deal is where you will save money. You cant sell the AEM for less then XXX amount but you CAN give some "freebies" at that price.

As soon as its released, I will get actual pricing and selling prices to the board members. Maybe we could have a group buy in.

How about a set of 4 subinjectors? Can she run subs? If not can she be programmed in batch fire?

Sweet... I wished I had waited before getting my Emanage. I have a few questions though:

1) You mentioned it takes into account all factory sensors... does that include the forgotten knock sensor on the KA24DE engine? If so, can it be programmed to retard timing on knock, and can you adjust the sensitivity of the trigger?

2) Can the EMS self-tune?

3) Will there be a base map for N/A and turbo at say, 7psi?

I thought the DE had a knock sensor.......I know my KAE doesn't, but it can be added easily.

Is the EMS pre-mapped? That way it would be easier to have a base map to go from, then tuning would be a breeze.

Yes the factory KS is in the loop. Yes we are using the factory KS on the 91. The AEM shows what is happening with the KS in voltage. Doing a dyno run where you KNOW there is no way its knocking (ie conservative timing and race gas) and logging it, you can now find out how much motor noise the KS is picking up. You can then program the EMS to reduce timing at voltages above the motor noise curve.

You can also add a knock sensor.

The AEM can be run in closed loop. There is a VE table that you program AF ratios for the EMS to shoot for. Not exactly the best way to go but its there. Its good for a safety margin and you can datalog and then look at fueling corrections to dial in the map.

All AEM EMSs come with a base map. This is for a stock motor. There are also many other base maps available for down load at http://www.aempower.com The map we have for the 91will probably be up there. It will be listed like this:

89-94 240sx KA24DESC-50 turbo50lb injectorsGM 3 BAR MAPGM IAT3" ExhaustAEM wide band91 octane

If your car has the above, your set to go. This will be a BASE map for you and you will still NEED to evaluate this map and make sure it is tweaked for your specific car.

If your car deviates at all from this map, you can change things (ie injector size) before you start your car. It WILL give you the basics tho. If your turbo is a different size, no biggie, strap it to the dyno and make slight fueling changes. Forged lower compression pistons? No problem. Strap it to the dyno and make some timing changes.

Not to put doubt in the minds of other members, but i think ive heard about this a while back. But its been about the same thing said that it was in beta testing. It would rule if it was true because ive seen and used the AEM system on a MK!V Supra last summer. Impressive as hell. Though I wish I had a Motec M400 ECU though. Hmm. sounds nice if I the money was there and it was a complete race car.

At near $2,000 for the EMS with sernsors, why wouldn't anyone go with a Tec3 system for a bit more ($2.3k)? Just wondering what kind of comparison anyone has between tec3 & EMS.-Jeff

for $2k with the ems you also get the aem wideband o2 sensor system. the ems also plugs right in. the tec3 does not come with a wideband and you also have to wire it in. plus you always pay more for convience, but in this case you are paying less and get jsut as much i believe if not more

Structure is right about the Tec3 system. I have thei product catalog as I looked into them for a stand alone for my KA-T shop car im working on. From what i've been told and seen for myself, the tec3 system works awsome but im not all gung-ho about wiring it up because already did that with my buddie's Procharged 3gen camaro running F.A.S.T.

The AEM may be expensive but realise alot goes into developing this EMS system. You pay for the convienience. Least its plug 'n play versus the Tec3 or Motec. Man i wish I had me a Motec M4 for this damn KA-T. that would rule. anyways..

its onyl goin to be around $1500 without the wideband compared to the $2300 price tag of the tec so i wouldnt consider it too exspenive.

i was jsut at my uncles machine shop and saw a few v8's with that F.A.S.T. system

yes, it will also tell you your

water tempair/fuel (if you have a wideband)ignition advancevoltageair intake tempMAP (boost)knockand any other sensor you have in real time on the laptop.plus you can datalog these all day long if you want. plus you can plug in bigger injectors type in about 3 numbers and its all remapped.

I have one on my honda, and I'm graduation to rear wheel drive now. I cant think of a reason that I cant get it to work on a RB25 if it plugs into a factory socket!

Unplug your factory ECU and plug the EMS in. Its that simple. In this state, it will start your factory car. If your not stock, it will take a lap top to change things to get your car up and running. Your car WILL need to be tuned with a wide band 02 sensor at this point. If your changing from MAF to MAP, you will need to add the sensors and do some wiring. This system is not for the average 240 or the average enthusiest. This is a high performance stand alone system that is configurable to do just about anything you want it to do wheather its running NOS or turbo. Big injectors, different cams, different TPS, etc... You can configure it to do it all.

As stated above EMS is for Engine Management System.

could you show those measurements (water temp., knock, etc.) on a small lcd screen in real time if you have a lap top in the car all the time?

if you have a laptop in the car constantly, you can get serial lcd displays to hook up to a serial [com] port on the computer.

would take custom software most likely, i dont know if the program for the ems would send sensor readings to a serial port.

on your lap top, you can configure the display to show whatever you want. They even have a custom dash program so you can look at gauges on your laptop screen.

Check out http://aempower.com/product_ems.asp and download the software...
