very simplified example:aem cost to make ems $700if 20 people buy the ems at $800 thats $100 profit x 20 units equals $2,000now if 5 people buy the ems at $1400 thats a profit of $700 times 5 units equals $3500

Yes I have been taking econ and accounting courses for the last five and a half years of my life. What I am saying is that in your example, more than 20:5 will buy it at that cost.

There are tons of factors in pricing these things, but I am saying that I hope that AEM has thought it out carefully and not just priced it with the other EMS setups.

it is fairly priced considering what it gives you. pretty much a stand alone that allows you to utilize stock wiring harness. try to find anything else that gives you that much flexability for cheaper. whether they jack the price up or not its still a good deal

standalones always have and always will cost money.

if you've ever had to install a standalone system from scratch, then you'd realize that a $1600+ price tag for a plug and play system is a steal.

Extremely TRUE...plug and play never goes with standalone. If this hits the market it will destroy just about everything else available. Especially if there is a decent base map...I get horny just thinking about it. Although as with everything else, waiting sucks...lol.

Can someone explain this to me? I cant seem to understand what this does. I understand it is a stand alone engine management so you can control everything that the computer would. I like the fact that it plugs right in and is capable of controling everything.

But its is hard to tune? Would i have to bring it up on a computer and a ****load of numbers will come up in notepad or whatever and i have to change it from that? or will it be an organized display that will make things doable for someone that isnt a computer programmer.

It is a very complex task, you don't really have to be a computer expert to do it, but you do need to be at least familiar with tuning a car. Also tuning of the AEM EMS should be done on a dyno. If you go EMS I would suggest having a AEM authorized shop tune it for you.

So could tuning an EMS on a N/A motor show gains as well as on a turbo motor?

if you do a little bit of a search on nico or aempower.com you'll find that aem gained 37rwhp on a 240 with only an intake. they also got a huge amount of toqure early in the power band.

this is the base map that will be coming on the ems

theres a thread somewhere on nico and on FA.

IIRC they were getting tired of working on cars everyday. they decided to close up and go back to school
