i just read about the dude putting a q45 v8 in his 91 240sx, and i was thinking to myself. why pay money for parts for the ka24de when its gonna take forever to reach good horsepower. so i am thinking about doing a engine swap, putting a rb25det or rb26dett. and wanna put a manual transmission in to when i do it,

What are the modifications for doing this.

and i just had my OEM suspension put back on($2,000), will the suspension hold the new rb25det or rb26dett.

Read the stickies.

You can't make an educated decision without doing a TON of research. This question is asked every other day. I will save you the flames, but the others won't. I am feeling nice today.

And RB swap is very expensive.

IMO, swap a dohc KA and boost it if you want power for a reasonable price.

Just get a SR or turbo the KA.

I say this because you haven't done much research and have NO clue what you are getting yourself into. These motors are very money hungry and will drain your wallet fast!!

an rb25 is an easy 6-7k, and the 26 8-10k.

come on man, 2 threads above this one is pretty much your starting point...zerothread/185294

Do you believe you are the first time that has wondered into their 240 swap options and has considered a RB? It's been discussed.

We might sound a bit harsh but it'll make you more prepared in the future. Those who were spoon fed at the beginning tend to sit with their "non-running" swap without a clue later on.

I have NO doubt that you WILL spend close to 10k on a RB25 with some mods and close to 15k with the RB26. If not more. You may think you have everything covered but there is small stuff that will add up quickly. Trust me.

if you have to spend over 10k on a stock rb25 install you're doing it wrong.that neo install i did was a hair under 6k total.

My point was that as you start with your project you will spend more money than first intended to. You will also find upgrades along the way to make your swap easier and better for performance. IE: Downpipe I bought from Australia. Plus the fact everyone has different ways to resources and some have better than others.

$6-7k into a KA24 would work a stock RB25 all day long.

The amount of money I've spent on this motor is sickening. I told l0nestar last night that I know where my early retirement fund went, it is parked in my garage.

yeah i really did spend $2,000 on my OEM suspension,

here's the story...

the car was lowered, and whoever lowered it, screwed it up because there were no camber arms, the struts were shot, the strut plates were done, and to sum it up, the people who had the car before me put the s-h-i-t backwards, everything was not right for the car. so i spent..$1952 on the car for everything to be fixed.plus the hourly which was 86 bucks.

and a reason why i could pay something like this off is personel..

i never asked why you could pay for it and dont care. 2000$ is not that much money in the grand scheme of building a car.

but for 2000$ you could get a brand new set of GOOD coilovers and every suspension arm you need to do ANYTHING you want to your alignment.

stock parts are awful and at some point youre going to be throwing them away ill guarantee it.

well dude im 17, and my ****ing dad just past away march 2008 from lung and liver cancer, so that 2 grand is alot of money towards fixing **** first before modding, and thats alot of money, i really needed my suspension for the car because if i didn't get it, man i could have been over a bridge or something because a tierod went out, or the strut decided to break.

im in a vocation H.S. in auto-tech,and i have plans on building my 240sx once everything is settled

all that stock parts could be had at the salvage yard for $400 maybe less. learn to do the work yourself, could save you $1500 up front. keep it up... stay in school don't drop out!

you can only learn so much in school, grab a service manual and read it...it has removal and installation instructions for everything including correct torque specs.stick to school tho, it pays off in the end.

calm down kiddo.

i said in the grand scheme of building a car, $2000 is not a lot of money. and nobody asked where you got the money, so nobody cares.

for gods sake i have 2000$ in my interior.

and you didnt have to buy all new pieces. that was a colossal waste of money. hell i thew all my stock stuff in the garbage.

your the one that said "dont ask how i got it" when nobody tried to ask about it in the first place.

hey everyone remember the kid is 17...

ahhhh...the good ole days. when i was 17 i had gotten my first car a beatup 4cyl 4spd manual jeep cherokee with a "road viewing" hole under my feet.

i wanted to get a pro-lift kit and raise it higher then Big Foot!

i also wanted to jump over desert sand mountains with it like i saw in the mountain dew commercials...

then i got my first paycheck
