Thanks zooopreme, 240sxAli, and loco.

^I bought the hatch for 150.

I know that many other coilovers compare in stiffness, but not in ride quality.

For now I plan on spraying the z32 wheels satin black and rocking them for a bit. Eventually I'll get Super Advan Sa3a's and have them powdercoated black. GL with your plans loco.

I attended a Time Trials event with my friend on the 1st at Bremerton Motorsports Park. I learned so much about car control. Braking into turn1 from 120mph does not compare to autocrossing.

I had a blast shredding my tires and melted my rotor to one of the brake pad backing plates after it wore through the friction material.

I changed the pads to get me by for a few weeks until the z brakes and 5 lug.

New gorilla lug nuts that I will transfer to the 5 lug hubs.

Gave the z wheels a wet sand, primer, then VHT polyurethane wheel coating(satin black).

new SS conversion lines for brakes and S14 se rotors

I'm going to buy new S13 front wheel bearings for the J30 hubs and have a lip machined on them for the retaining ring when I get the brake rotors turned. That's basically all that's holding me back from 5 lug.

I've been busy lately, but now that school is over there should be more progress.
Image
First off I did my rear 5 lug conversion with z32 wheels.

Image
Some of those bolts were a b**** to reach without disconnecting the control arms.

Image
So I did.

Image
Image
Hawk brake pads to go along with the fresh s14 se rotors.

Image
All done.

Image
Z wheels look nice next to stock width.

Image
Image
If I went lower the fitment could be nice, but first I would have to roll the fenders.

The next issue I had to get down to was my power windows. The driver's side has been dead for a while and the passenger side went out recently, so I diagnosed both sides with a multimeter and took a trip to the junkyard.
Image
I pulled a similar motor out of a 94 altima with low mileage.

Image
Since the motors weren't exactly the same I used the internals from the new motor in the old housing and it worked. The part that kept the motor from actually working was some sort of resistor or capacitor inside the housing. On the driver's side a pin inside the amp/relay assy had desoldered from the circuit board so I re-flowed it with new solder and it's good for another 20 years. :bigthumb:

Image
Now, on to the cool stuff.

Image
Image
I bought an HKS Sport Exhaust. The piping is 75mm with and 83mm tip, it's satin black, and is very tame for driving on public roads (at low RPM's).

Image
A comparison to my stock exhaust.

Image
20 years can really degrade a piece of metal such as this.

Image
This is what's left of one of the studs I had to drill out.

Image
I ended up drilling the cat for a 10mm bolt that slipped right in to replace the stud.

Image

Image

Image
I really like the low-key element of it.

Image

Here's a video I made for the exhaust that has a pretty good description if you would like to read that as well.

I agree, but every aspect of this car will be modified or addressed in some way, though nothing is ever going to be over the top. I might have the z wheels for a long time. The SR swap is more important than flashy wheels to me. I also wanted kouki tails for some time, but I've grown to like the stock ones and the kouki's won't make my car faster in any way. :)

Car looks a lot different now that 5 lugs is done and new wheels, but I'm going to post this update in multiple posts over the next couple days, because there is a lot of stuff done.

Image

First off got j30 hubs machined and finished 5 lug.

Image

Z brakes were actually shot, only one was rebuilt for some reason. Got q45's to get me by, realized I love them and don't need the flashiness of z brakes, so I rebuilt the z32s and sold them. (that and they didn't clear my new wheels).

Image

Next a friend and I replaced my subframe bushings with eneergy suspension polyurethane.

Image

We cut the bushings an inch or so at the top to bring the subframe closer to the car and correct roll center a bit.

Image

Had to cut the metal center piece too and it turned out well.

Image
Image

Awesome and cheap modification for your suspension. Much more firm on turn in. Huge improvement.

Image

21mm hollow HICAS rear sway bar also stiffened up the rear suspension a ton compare to stock 15mm. :)

Image

Key ring light finally installed

That's all I have time for now, but there is some more interior stuff done as well as wheels and a new engine sitting in my garage since the end of summer. It's going into the car in two weeks now. So excited. More updates soon! :werd:

So much has happened to the car good and bad. I can still say the body is straight, and nothing too expensive to fix, but a lot of s*** has gone wrong, hopefully I can fill you guys in on that soon. For now let's catch up with progress:

Image

Picked up an awesome brown hatch/privacy cover

Image

Hit it up with even more awesome vinyl/fabric paint.

Image
Image

Can't even tell it wasn't grey originally.

Image
Image

New Clutch Master installed

Image
Image

Cut up some vacuum hose connectors to make bushings for my clutch pedal that was being destroyed by the return spring and squeaking like hell.

Image

Here's the two smaller ones

Image

This one's a bit harder to see with the grease, but i fit the center section of the connector in the bracket and the spring inside through the opening in the center.

Image

Whatt? new wheels!

Image

And an Sr?

Image

Ka out, grimy bay...

Image

all out and purdy.

This is basically to tease you guys. I did the swap over a month ago and the head gasket is already blown, so more work.
Reply to my thread if you want to see moar! I need to know someone cares...

Yeah, man. I'm thinking I should go with a cosworth MLS and ARP studs, because that would be a pretty killer combo, but then I have to buy exhaust and intake mani gasket seperately (with the oem nissan HG you get all that stuff in the combo) I just don't want to blow another OEM one soon, cause of this 92 octane fuel I have to use...

It is a killer combo, and is exactly what i bought...

In regards to the manifold gaskets, i would look at it as a one time, worth while purchase and never look back... the oem intake manifold gasket is only like $15, and now you have the option of choosing oem or aftermaket for the exhaust manifold gasket.

I will throw this thread out there as well....

I guess my peeve with replacing the manifold gaskets is that I already did once before putting in the engine. Only four hundred miles on those suckers. Also, my theory for the gasket blowing is a combination of low octane fuel and the fact that my intercooler cold piping was touching the radiator crossover hose(still using Ka rad) making enough detonation for the ECU to not be able to counter.

Now I'm also getting very tempted to rebuild the bottom end while I have the head off, but this really was a low mileage motor. The cam lobes are still a mirror like finish.

I've got tons of pictures from the engine swap, but I left my camera with a friend so that update will be very soon. I'm currently working on replacing the head gasket and getting a new front subframe and tension rod. Hopefully a new set of these beautiful mesh wheels as well, but i might just straighten these out with a BFH for now and slap some paint on them.

That's not true. Performance cars need camber! :yesnod - 2 to -3 degrees at the front and -1,5 to -2 degrees at the rear are good values.

This is a brief overview:

Touring
Front
Camber = -1.0 to -1.5
Caster = P+7.5/D+7.0
Toe = 0.0

Rear
Camber = -1.0 to -1.25
Toe = 0.8 to 1.2 toe-in

Sport
Front
Camber = -1.5 to -2.0
Caster = P+7.5/D+7.0
Toe = 0.0

Rear
Camber = -1.25 to -2.0
Toe = 0.5 to 1.2 toe-in

Race
Front
Camber = -2.5<
Caster = P+7.5/D+7.0
Toe = 0.0 to 1.0 toe-out

Rear
Camber = -2.0<
Toe = 0.5 to 1.5 toe-in

Greatings, ludi

It's close to -2 in the front and -1.5 in the rear. I already get a good amount of camber wear in the front daily driving let alone at the track. so Im fine with what I have thank you very much.
