I already took out the damper line, but thanks for the advice.

Just ordered a deck and shift knob
and now I'm looking into s15 helicals and I hear they are good for grip. :naughty:

I haven't been able to install the diff, because the flanges got back-ordered and a ton of other stuff is still in the mail.

Image
But, i did get the new hatch on.
Image
And bypassed/removed the factory amps, which drastically improved sound quality.

Now, I am waiting on parts and praying that someone will buy my slushbox.

I finally went auto-crossing last weekend at the SCCA #8 event. It was a blast and I'm going again tomorrow. :)
Image
My first time was an 88 and by the end of the day i got 69 clean
Image
New shift knob. Feels nice.
Image
If anyone out there is looking for a shift knob I would recommend this
Image
I picked up an HVLP gun so i can paint my bumpers and hatch. Eventually the whole car.
Image
Now I'm looking into a bucket seat, because i need more seat time(instead of flying out of seat time :chuckle: ) while autoxing.

Car is coming along pretty nice. Can't wait to see more progress. I wish I would have had my stuff together when I was 16.

I had that same problem you had with the swap too. The guy sent me an auto cross member, and both the master cylinder and slave cylinder weren't all that great looking, so I tossed them and bought new ones. Almost forgot, The clutch pedal bracket was snapped in half too, so I took it to work and welded it back together.

Thanks guys. The clutch pedal bracket snapping in half isn't common is it? Because, mine had some rust on it. :ohno:

No, I'm pretty sure I just got a shady deal all around with that kit. It was already cracked, but I didn't notice it until I went to press the clutch in for the first time. It's a good thing I wasn't driving. It went behind the brake pedal. I can say my welding has held up to a lot of abuse though. I've heard if you go around clutch kicking it all the time eventually something with snap.

Got my output flanges and a few other things:
Image
Here are my flanges and bolts ($200 shipped)
Image
unfortunately nismoshop sent me 12mm ring gear bolts not 13mm so I'll need to shim.
I'm going to be installing the diff as soon as i get shims.
Image
got 4 z32 wheels with no curb rash and s*** tires. anyone know what spacers I'll need to clear stock suspension?
Image
Sony xplod deck.. don't think I've posted it yet.

The S15 diff and all the stuff for it was around $280 after shipping. :bigthumb:
I just ordered paint for the bumpers and MT90 fluid, because the 85w90 was sh*t.
As far as 5 lug goes I'm thinking of J30 fronts and z32NA/s14 rears.

First off MT90
Image
The gear oil was kinda s*** so i switched to this stuff. It's great.
Image
Then I found what was left of my "shifter bushing"(had it for 2 months) :tisk:
Image
So, i bought a circuit sports solid bushing.
Image
New NTN bearings for the diff
Image
Pressed on.
Image
Took the diff apart after finding metal shavings.
Image
Must have been from the old bearings, because inside looked fine.
Image
Expensive a** bolts i got for s15 diff with s13 ring gear.

Finally put in the diff
Image
It was really grimy
Image
So, I put the diff in a solvent bath
Image
here is the open diff waiting to be pulled
Image
Me swapping ring gears
Image
Basically the whole thing assembled here

I test drove it for the first time on snow/ice so it was a lot of fun. I could not believe how much traction i get driving on the back roads. I'm not sure how it performs while maintaining a drift (i don't drift anyway), but breaking traction is still only a clutch kick away.

I also got another job a few months ago, so I've been busy, but I've got enough for coilovers.. Hipermax 3's that is. :naughty:

The S15 Helical Diff has been amazing. It rains all the time here in the Northwest, so I get to use it a lot. No more waiting for traction. It's always there.

I have done a bunch of maintenance, which has set me back a tiny bit.

Image
First I found out that my rubber clutch hose was leaking, so i upgraded.
Image
Techna-fit SS braided line. Improved pedal feel quite a bit too.
Image
NGK plugs
Image
A new panel filter. I found that it made a difference at WOT over the paper one.

A couple buddies and I have planned a trip to Laguna Seca this summer. This made me realize I'll need my engine till then, so I filled up with full synthetic and did the maintenance stuff shown above. There shouldn't be too many small updates from here on. I'm just letting you guys know I'm still alive.

Took me a while to save for these, but it was worth every penny.
Image
Image

Image
They came with pillowballs in the front.

Image
Image
Fronts have inverted monotubes with 32 level damping adjustment on the bottom

Image
Rears are regular monotube with damping adjustment on the top.

Image
Image
Out with the stockers

Image
In with the new

Image
Before
Image
After

Image
They are set pretty high from the factory. Think I will slam them in the next couple days.

I drove around for quite a bit on them.
Image
At low speeds you can feel the road well.
Image
At higher speeds you can't feel the little imperfections as much.
I hit quite a few pot holes and speedbumps and it was not very harsh like most coilovers
In the corners they keep the car planted FIRM and if you push down on the front of the car it won't even budge. at all.
I can't put into words how much I love these

Wow, I'm the only person to post here in the last 6 months. I thought someone might chime in after $2,000 coilovers. :rotfl

So recently I painted the bumper and put in new jdm chuki turn signals. While I was at it I shaved the license plate holes too.

Image
This is after the pressure wash.

Image
Tons of sanding.

Image
Primer and fiberglassing the holes.

Image
Right after the base coat.

Image
New turn signals to replace the shattered ones.

Image
Layed down the clear coat with my HVLP I bought a while back and it turned out well.

Image
also installed led bulbs in the park light sockets.

Image
I still need to wet sand the clear coat and buff it.

Next few updates should be 5 lug, wheels, and brakes.

This idea went against my philosophy of only using clean oem aesthetics.
Image
It was free. Couldn't argue with that and I wanted to personalize my interior in some way.
Image
Cut the bag to the length of the old crusty boot.
Image
Fit it onto the plastic bracket.
Image
Turned out pretty nice and will be a nice offset to my Black and white color scheming. :)

Lookin good man!

I was a little upset that I wasn't able to go to GG this year. How was it by the way? (I've heard that some guy in a mustang kept on doing burnouts and was being a complete douche... or something like that? Was that true?)

^ Thank you, and yes that was true, unfortunately the mustang crowd made a really bad name for themselves as there was 2-3 of them revving and burning out. That and the people who had too big of ego's to talk to their friends while at the meet. Aside from that it was really cool. It was the first time I had met people who care about their S13's and don't drift them into walls, which was quite refreshing.
