Sounds like you had a kickass time! I wish I could pull the time and money together to try something like this.

Matt,

First off, I loved the thread. It was a fantastic read and I really enjoyed the pictures.

I also want to say thanks for coming through the booming metropolis of Galesburg, Illinois, Rail Road U.S.A.

You better get your a** back over here to Japan to visit, homie!!!

Thanks everybody, it was my pleasure!

Here comes the map of my trip: there were so many waypoints Google maps couldn't handle it, so I had to split it in twine.

First Half:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?doflg=pt ... 084961&z=5

Second Half:
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?doflg=pt ... 084961&z=5

Stats:

Miles Driven: 9,400+
Hours driving: 160+
States/provinces Visited: 28
Nights in a tent: 14
Nights in a motel: 4
Nights in a hotel: 2
Nights free with relatives: 5
Cost of Gas: $812.64
Cost of Accommodations: $1,011.47
Cost of Food: $267.95
Miscellaneous Costs: $243.11
Total Cost: $2,335.17 ($89.81 per day)

I included $300 or so in motel and hospital bills it cost me when I got sick. Either way, still an absurdly cheap trip for 26 days. The 6 days in motels/hotels add up to more than half of my accommodation costs, so if you did it all tenting you could knock off another $550 at least. If yah got questions, ask away and I'll answer them best I can. :patriot:

Stumbled upon this article during a random search on google, started reading and could not stop haha I registered to NICO just to comment on how inspiring your thread is (although im a long time 240 and se-r owner, and member at sr20forum). I now have 3 hours to sleep before I wake up for work lol ...... Really an amazing thread, and worthy of being documented into a book =) i know most 240 owners would buy one! Your descriptions and accounts of the trip were just as good as the pictures, excellent writing! Thanks so much for sharing, take care!
