Ok, well after looking at my pignose (89-90) bumper...this seems damn near impossible to do. Everything is made/works for dohc years

LOL, don't hate man... most 240sx owners would rather spend $20 on a lip they can screw up four times than $80-$100 (which is what Zenki lips are going for now... LOL) on one they have to baby.

I tried it out, just for the hell of it. Had like 10 bucks and was bored. Drove by Lowes and remembered this, so i tried it. I used the one that was about 2 inches tall though, and some double sided tape. Doesnt look too bad. Will probably rip it off next week or something though.

I didnt have it on there for 10 minutes when i parked and had it all on the curb... Just not used to it i guess.

well I was bored also and went to lowe's and got 2 strips of that stuff and put it together. The only bad thing is that I dont have this one little plastic piece that goes on the bottom of the fender (on one side) oh and I wish they made some BLACK 2 sided tape so you cant look down on it and see the white stuff. Got a pic. it looks soo much better! I was thinking about making another one down the road that is actually more stable.. maybe glue it to a long shapeable stick of aluminum and make brackets for it so I can fix it to the bumper. Here's a pic. [IMG][/IMG] http://www.myfilestash.com/use...2.JPG [IMG][/IMG] http://www.myfilestash.com/use...n.JPG

im thinking about going down and re-doing it because i think i put mine on upside down

Yeah, it's on upside down. Just pull it off and try again. No biggie. Also, you should be able to find it in longer lengths. Ask one of the employees to find you a roll of vinyl coving (pronounced COVE-ing). I just finished off a room in my house, I got a roll of 20 feet for like $15. That's a lot of lips. LOL. EDIT: Okay, it's 2 lips and change...

Oh yeah, about that double-sided tape... I used 3M 5lb mounting tape. If you tape your bumper FIRST, then roll on the lip, you'll get better results. Any other imperfections can be handled with a heat gun.

it's actualy called cove base. any carpet store will have it in several colors. if you have a heat gun you can warm it up and it will keep the shape after it cools. thats how they do corners in rooms.

the shape of the zenki bumper isnt right, and theres no stock mini lip thing to mount it too. the kouki bumper works great cuz you just lay it right on top of the existing lip

yes the pignose is cute. You cant make a lip work on that bumper? Surely you can....there has to be a way. I cant see real good underneath your bumper but it does look like you could do it, give it a try.

i went and looked at this stuff at my local HD. i can either buy it by the foot or get 4 foot pieces.

its 67 cents a foot but it is really quite flimsy.. on the freeway i would imagine it would bend backwards lol. I guess thats why they were talking about reinforcing it.

Ill have to figure out how to reinforce it and then get it haha.

That's the wrong stuff. It comes in rolls. Coving or cove base. It comes in different heights... the first one I tried was 3", which didn't work out like I wanted it to. 2.5" was just right, though.

I've scraped that stupid thing SO MANY times... like Axel said, I'm glad I didn't pay "real money" for it. LOL. It's getting to the point where I probably should redo it... or not. I don't care. People who tape vinyl cove base to their cars don't freakin' care.

Estomax:

I read through that long azz maxima thread and a guy used strip metal from home depot and double taped it on to the back of it.. He said it held up at 90mph driving.. That was his daily commute.. I'm kinda thinking about giving it a try but deff not the 4 inch..

im trying to shape mine using a long strip of thin aluminum.. I put 2 side tape to it and shape it and it sticks really, really good until about 2 hours later i come outside and it has fallen off. I got so frustrated. I think I need some better 2 side tape.. the stuff i got was good to hold up to 2lbs... I dont know where to get the MAD strong stuff.... It looks so much better when it's shaped, not all caving in :-( anyone know what i could use to keep that aluminum strip from EVER coming off again?

HAHAHAHAHAHA

That's so freaking cool

And I think you guys are right - about the whole pignose thing. I really like my pignose. I'm just trying to invision it with some nice black vinyl...I'm sure it can be done. There isn't a super good surface to stick it to because it's quite rounded at the very bottom, but I have this really sticky double sided foamy tape that's a good 1/8th of an inch fat so it wouldn't show all that much....If I have time I want to check this out now lol

no im pretty sure its the right stuff... its in the carpeting section and it looks like the same stuff the maxima has.. and its in a roll or in 4 ft sections.

but yeah i think i gotta do the thing metal strip idea to stiffen it up haha

if ytou're really hard core use rivits...lol. Those would hold it! then when it gets crappy, just take it off, and the new sheet will hide the old holes

Hey Brisknfade, do you have any upfront picks of yours to see how it looks?

I was reading it's a good idea to use a heat gun when installling because when it cools it'll be better fit around the courners etc.. anyone Know if a hairdryer will work just as good as a heat gun? Yea I like to go all out ghetto even on tools. I use a pants belt to remove my oil filter when it's on there too tight.

hehe that's just being smart (the belt thing) well, I dont know how to put on rivets but I did put tiny black screws to hold my wall base up on my bumper... the 2side tape I got worked awesome at first, but when i come out a few hours later the thing is sitting on the ground... ARGH! so that's why i had to screw it on there. I'm still thinking of a good way to put the metal strip in without it falling off in the road somewhere.. it cost about 5 bucks too.

I keep clicking on this thread hoping someone will put some pics of their car up with the po'boy lip installed....

Well my local Lowes only sold it by 25 foot roll for around 18 or so but they didn't have black in 2 1/2inch. They had 4 foots but only the 4 inch veriaty. Next weekend I'll hit up Home depot and see what they have. No doubt you have to stiffen that stuff up as it's very pliable. I didn't see a reason to nail it on if you use a good outside double stick tape. But I may be saying different after I actually get it on.
