I know how ya feel. I told my parents as soon as I walked into the house. They were very pissed. I got the ticket about a month and a half ago and my driving has been limited since then. Their getting their trust back with me though. I cant imagine what would happen if I didnt tell them. You gotta do it. It'll hurt her more if she finds out on her own.

You can call the local DMV and ask them any questions you might have, also that is where you can find out if you can talk to anyone before the trial. The prosecutor, maybe called district attorney (DA), is the person you have to talk to to work out a deal before the court, but sometimes they won't negotiate with you before trial unless you have a lawyer. A lawyer may seem expensive, but considering how much your insurance is gonna go up it might be worth it in the long run. When negotiating with the prosecutor, let him know that you are willing to take fine and point increases as long as you get to keep your licence. But there is also a limit to how many points you can get before your license is automatically revoked, make sure you don't cross this in the future. If you are gonna go by yourself, show up early to the trial so you can watch the court procedure and see how other people do with their arguments. Dressing nice doesn't hurt and don't try a sob story or explain why it was "necessary" for you to speed cause they have heard it all. There are many technicalities that work sometimes to get you off, but most are pretty tricky and that is what you pay a lawyer for. Also, if the officer who ticketed you doesn't show up at the hearing the case will almost always be dropped. There are some programs, like traffic school, that you can take to lessen the punishment. That is something to ask the DMV.

Damn, I've only pulled 110 in a 40 :( Sounds really dangerous, but if you knew the road the only person in danger was myself...I'm lucky I didn't die considering the ****ty car I did that in.

no... your a guy damn it.. you dont NEED sleep.. you can allways fight the ticket in hopes the cop wont show up, it worked for me when i was doing 90 (slowing down from 110) in a 65 zone... (the one time i was going stupidly fast in my stock dohc 240 @ 140 i didnt get pulled over, it made driving from LA to SD soo fun)

This is why they're saying that you didnt wise up yet. If a cop had seen you doing that, then you would've been skrewed once more. After my 18 over ticket, I barely sped. Now I speed, but I havent gone past 70mph unless I was on the parkway with one of my parents, and driving among a group of people doing the same speed. Did I wise up? Yes. Did you? No.

Oh and ps: Ya better tell your mom, cuz Its gonna be hell if ya dont.

actually, considering that wendy's is privatly owned AND privat property, the police can NOT give you a ticket for doing it on private property, ive already been through this with a friend of mine that got a ticket for doing it and fought it in court with a lawyer. The only time the police can give you a ticket is when the manager IS NOT there.

They can do whatever the hell they want. Legalities get sorted out in court later.

You, like I was six years ago at age 16, seem to be the type that will only learn the hard way.

After the swap it was hard for me to keep the foot off the pedal:

I would like to point out that I didn't get reckless driving. The cop said I wasn't endangering others, "just going WAY TOO FAST." I got a hefty fine and a diatribe about my "generation" from the judge. So in all seriousness, be careful where you choose to drop the hammer. I only do it on flat highway stretches with little or no traffic (but apparently lots of police :( )

Still, there are consequences....

that would be pieces of my rod/main bearings...back to the shop I go.

On a related note, anyone know what kind of rod/main bearings an sr20det s14 takes?

CORRECTION: reckless driving can be ticketed in any area even on private property....unless that property does not have public access from the street and even still you need the OWNER's approval to use the property. Not the manager's, so if the cop wanted to push the issue he could contact the owner of the wendy's and ask him if you were approved to used his parking lot as your playground and the result i would imagine is you and you mom (manager correct?) losing your jobs because you think your car is a toy. Cars are fun...no one is going to deny that.....not on this board....however they should be treated with respect.....i encourage you to get involved in your local SCCA.

another thing...why say the most you have you have sped is 65 (10 mph over) when we can all read the your post right before that said that you haven't done more than 20 over...? don't answer that....

You said earlier that you posted because "you don't know everything" and you wanted some info.....well you getting it. If you take what some people on here are telling you as lecturing than you not absorbing the information....as for being a good driver.....when you may have substantial driving skills for all we know but that alone does not make one a "good driver". Driving in a manner that is responsible does.....especially on public streets. Yes most everyone i imagine does speed however is it in a responsible manner? If you were ticketed....especially driving a van which obviously doesn't call for the attention of police, then chances are you were moving considerable faster than the rest of the traffic. Do i speed? yes i do.....often times it is because the flow of traffic is above the speed limit....and in that scenario it is safer to speed than drive slower than everyone else....when i am driving home from work at 1 am and there are very few other cars on the road i also speed....approx 15-20 over.....can i go faster yes.......but it doesn't make much sense....for a few reasons:1) i am not willing to pay that ticket2) ever timed your commute at different speeds? your not saving much3) even with my driving skills, i know that the unexpected can happen....i am a good driver because i know my limits and the cars limits. Something you may or may not understand yet.

As i said before i encourage you to get involved in the SCCA.

NIGHTXCZ77- i do understand your frustration with elderly drivers and irresponsible police...i have them also...however you flying by an old lady with poor driving skills at more than double her speed isn't the best example of being a "good driver". i'm sure you understand why im not going to explain why.
