36 months of complimentary XM service w navtraffic

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

So yesterday my 3 months of complimentary XM service ran out. i started looking online because i remember on the Acura forum that people were getting XM for 77/year. I ran across this website http://www.retailmenot.com/view/xmradio.com. i saw someone mentioned that they got XM for 36 months complimentary because they bought a QX56. so i decided to call and give it a shot. i mentioned that i have an infiniti and my complimentary service ran out and i wanted the 36month complimentary service. they gave me everything and nav traffic. only problem is that i wanted the best of sirius but they wouldn't throw that in. So im only paying $4 per month for XM/ navtraffic/ best of Sirius. Try it out if you like..

I threatened to cancel my XM account, so they gave it to me for $77 as well.

Nav-Traffic is useless in Canada... so that was no biggie for me.

i called the 800 number, i forget which one. but just hit the "0" button to get to a live operator. i had some really sweet lady from virginia. it didn't seem like she even knew what an infiniti was.. luckily for me.. but 36 months of free service is priceless.

I predict SiriusXM will be out of business in a few years if they keep this up.

they probably wont go out of business since the 3 free years is for qx56's and the only other cheap deal that i heard that is out there is for $77 per year. but how many people know about this. i can bet not many. i think the regular service with nav traffic and best of sirius is well over $100 per year.

I called today and was told that the 36 months deal was only for QX, so I only got $77 / year w/o nav traffic.

It worked on my 4th call. During the first three I was told; "The promotion only applies to GM vehicles", "The only Infiniti that qualifies is the QX56" and finally "the dealer needs to call to activate" The 4th CSR actually told me that my vehicle does qualify, but he verified with his Supervisor that the dealer would have to call to have the 36 months added to the account. I told him that my a friend called and was able to get it activated himself and I would rather not have to deal with the dealer as they are a hassle to get to do anything. He placed me on hold and then came back telling me that he was able to add the additional months to my package (expires March 2012).

Of note; (800) 967-2346 Calls 1 and 2 were routed to Jamaica, (800) 682-4114 Call 3 was routed to the Philippines and (800) 998-7900 Call 4 to Panama City.

Thanks OP.

I just called and was also told that i need dealer to call in since XM bills Infiniti for the 3 years of service. I am not sure how much of that is the truth since i am sure Infiniti paid in part for the equipment.

I called them back yesterday on my drive home and attempted to add the best of Sirius to my subscription and was told that it could not be added to the trial account. I just called back and got it added for $3.99/month...Just keep calling and you will eventually get what you want.

XM originally told me that the dealer would have to call. but i told them that i am not going back and forth since the dealer told me to call XM.. obviously i was fibbing a little. but it seems like they just want to pass the buck. don't give up and keep trying.

It worked for me! It took 2 calls, and being REALLY nice but they caved. At first they kept telling me it was only for the QX56. I kept saying that other people with EX35's are getting it so I should too. I was on-hold waiting for a Supervisor during the 1st call and was disconnected. Expect to be on-hold a lot. During the 2nd call I got a Supervisor right away and they saw the notes from my previous call. He said, "I see according to the ID that you have a QX56 so let me set up your free 36 months". I just went with it, even though I had told him earlier in the call I had an EX. I think he just wanted to get me off the phone, whatever, lol.

I bought my EX in August, free trial ran out after 3 months so I paid the $77 for a year. After 2 calls I am now getting XM with the NavTraffic until 3/5/2012 for free and they are refunding a pro-rated amount of the $77 I paid (it's about $61)! I did a 3rd call just to confirm my info was correct and it is; their records show me as having XM and NavTraffic for free until 3/5/2012.

Be nice and friendly to the rep (it helps), expect to be on-hold a lot, and be firm in telling them that other people with EX's have gotten it.

keep calling.. especially often. their computers don't register that you called right away and the chance that you call the same call center twice is remote. i don't think that i would tell XM that you have an EX. i would insist that you are driving a QX and insist that it is an error on their part if the question does arrise. only reason i say this is because the deal is for a QX and not an EX and they really don't have to give you anything if you admit to driving our cars.

Couldn't they just ask for your VIN and know right away whether or not you have an eligible QX?

Also, has any Canadian been able to get this deal? (If so, what number did you dial, how did the call go, etc?) TIA!

Cheers,David

I don`t know how you guys persuade them to include an EX35 owner to get 3 year free XM. Not unless you intentionally told them you have a QX.They don`t seem to ask for a VIN# since they know that the bill goes to Infiniti. You might get away for a month but when the bill arrives, Infiniti might ask you to pay? Not sure, but I have called 3 times and the best they can do is 5 months for $19.95 with no activation fee. Honestly, that is a good deal! at least I know my $20 goes to help their struggling company.Who knows maybe a month or two XM might closed....

I was very straight with them when i was on the phone.

1. She(Lady from XM) was surprised when i asked her for that offer.2. I told her I have Infiniti EX35, she knew what kind of car it is.3. She said she could find the 36 mos Free XM Radio Pkg, took about 30 more seconds for her to find NAV-Traffic pkg that she could add for free as well.4. She mentioned if the offer was came from the Dealership i bought the car from, I answered no, it was from web-sources.

I would wait to see if they change their mind taking away the features later, but since i got it for free, i dont mind loosing it, but imma be sad for couple of days though Company like XM is not like a liquor shop around the corner, if they knew there were errors in the system, they would of already erased the 36 mos offers customer service reps could find in their system. Hopefully its just their marketing giving freebies for some of us.

I just got this with 1 try I called XM customer service told her my XM stopped working and the lady checked my account and told me my 3 months subscirption is expired. I told the lady that when I bought my car it comes with 36 months free. Than she ask me what kind of Car I have I told her I have an Infiniti than she asked me what year I bought my car I told her 2008. Than she is working on my account for a few minutes. At this time my cell phone got disconnected. I have to call XM again and by the time I give all my info to the second rep my account is already updated with 36 months of XM and NAV.

Thanks OP!!!!

So, the first 2 times I called, the person didn't even know what I was talking about, nor could they find the promotion in the database. The 3rd time I called I thought I hit the jackpot b/c the guy had heard about the infiniti promotion. He checked it and yes it did come up in his computer but for the QX. I just agreed and also asked about the NavTraffic. He found that as well for 36 months. Just when I thought it was set up, he said he was just going to pull up my account to confirm which model I have. Doh! I told him I heard it was for all Infiniti trucks, and he said it was specifically underlines for the QX. Foiled!

So I tried a 4th time. This time I was connected to the loveliest young woman in Virginia. She knew exactly what I was talking about, and didn't even ask what model I had, nor what model the promotion was for. So after some small talk about the weather, she said she will see if she can activate it without needing to contact her supervisor. Lo and behold, she was able to do it, and can I say she was more than happy to. I didn't even have to say anything! I was thinking of asking if the Best of Sirius was included in that but I didn't want to press my luck.

So the moral of the story is try, try again, you will end up with someone who knows the promotion but doesn't care to check details. The operators were all american, so I don't know about the overseas centers that the other posters were talking about.

Hey I think I got the same lady that you spoke to from Virginia. She actually knew the infiniti car and liked them, she just had no clue that the offer was for only the QX, and didn't even care to check. I was set up in 2 minutes, while discussing the weather and gas prices. Priceless. Great post OP!

good job. im glad i was able to pass this information on to everyone and hope everyone is still able to benefit. Jonkarn brings up a very good point that maybe i have overlooked. BE OVERLY NICE TO EVERYONE YOU TALK TO. Ask about their day, the weather, where they are from. try to keep them distracted with kindness. For some reason my navtraffic stopped working all of a sudden last month. i called immediately and talked to the XM rep for about 45 minutes.. i got his whole life story. i even got his PS3 username and play online with him regularly.. he hooked my navtraffic back up, it was only a glitch. i thought my complimentary service was doomed. but im back up and running.
