he bought an evo and a 350z. But he sold the 350 already for like nothing.

360hp (@flywheel) in a 2700lb perfectly balanced chassis with the best 6MT in the universe. $25,000 with some snazzy Fiske mesh wheels.

It's the best of both worlds, S2k redline and chassis dynamics with a preposterous amount of torque. You could put an OEM hardtop and Endless brakes on the car and it'd still be less than a brand-new STI.

That is quite a blanket statement, and I disagree.

I used to own an '04 WRX, so I don't have anything against Subies, but STI's and S2k's are good at very different things, neither one is objectively better than the other. Each is capable of outrunning the other depending on the environment (stock for stock).

Some people just don't care for AWD cars, I've largely found myself to be one of them. I owned one, wasn't thrilled with it, and have been RWD ever since. I will likely own one again in the future, but never as my only vehicle.

not to be biased, but i own an evo and if you want an all around sport car , that can go for autocrossing, curcuit, drag even hit up the dirt. and evo or sti is for you. myself i picked the evo because its more mod friendly and its looks a hella lot better then the sti. but if you just want a car thats going to be fun to drive and definetly just pick up the ladies a 350 roadster would be the shiznit. by the way you said he's getting a new and for you to pick it for him or he's buying you one and anyone you pick is yours? fill me in here im somewhat confused.

everyone is intitled to their own oppinion, but having owned the rwd z and the awd sti, i can only say that while the z was fun around turns, i couldnt beat a sti or evo down the track with my z, and sure as heck couldnt touch one with an s2k.

but if i did buy a honda it would be an s2k.. altho im over 6feet, so that stinks

The Z is a fine CAR, you just have to un**** it. Mostly by equalizing the front and rear tire sizes.

I've been considering this as well. I've essentially narrowed it down to Evo Vs. 350. The only reason the 350 is in the running, honestly, is because I've owned and driven a 240sx practically forever and so my experience with Nissan has been terrific.

There are questions of style and practicality to consider: * 350 looks sexy, but Evo has a bit more class * Evo can handle passengers when necessary, 350 thumbs its nose at them * etc

What I'm really thinking though, is that the 350 is a N/A V6 that will run effortlessly forever while the Evo is tweaked to an extreme degree in order to wring every last HP per liter of displacement. And if the 350 starts to get a bit boring, you can drop in a few mods (turbos, etc) to double the HP relatively inexpensively.

I'd say skip all 4 and get a G35 Coupe. The 350 is a nice looking car, but the G has a bit more class and same drive train. There are way too many mustangs out on the road. STI and Evo's are just butt ugly, but fun to drive.

Theres alot more options out there too. A turbo Supra would be nice, Vettes are always fun, the older skylines, etc.

Nope, didn't miss that part. I happen to think this is a fun discussion. Just because he's done with the thread doesn't mean I am too.

That's a great point. You can even build up a pretty nice 6MT sedan package that's not too bad. Its a shame you can't get the 6MT model with AWD - for some reason AWD and MT seem to be mutually exclusive.

i concur %100

a g35 coupe oozes class and is a blast to drive. STIs and Evos are high-school rich kid cars(albeit fast ones) who rev at each other sitting the wendy's drive-thru to show off.

or you could get a classic muscle car and steal all their girls

I agree about the muscle cars.....I'd love to get a vintage mopar like a Road Runner or Charger....but the good ones are VERY expensive.

Guess I'll just have to wait until the new Challenger comes out.....

I like that orange GTX! Old muscle is great, but you have to keep a tool box in the trunk......had a 69 Mach 1....always breaking down....

Evo > 350z. STI > 350z. G35 > 350z. C5Z or C6Z Corvette > 350z. You see a pattern here?

350z's are slow, and look like a land whale at a Buffett table.
