Couple years ago, I was going to go to VA Tech for my B.S. degree. And my girlfiend left and went to VA Tech, but I stuck to VCU. Heh, why stuff like this does not happen here.

Believe it is only 22 people dead, not 32.

God Bless America and the 2nd amendment and the NRA!! We love you Charleton Heston!

Poor kids, go for an education, get shot by some nut with easier access to guns than alcohol.
You insensitive *******. What the hell is wrong with you? 32 people are dead and you decide to make a POLITICAL STATEMENT? Shut up. Just shut the hell up.

My condolences to everyone in Blacksburg. I still can't get ahold of anyone there, apparently the phone lines are reserved for emergency use.

Someone asked "how could this happen at school" and I answered. Facts are facts, there are more guns than people here. How is that insensitive? Of course I feel for the pour souls that lost their lives today. And that makes me a hippy? This **** doesn't happen in England, does it? Gun availability has nothing to do with this?!?!?!?! Guarantee his guns were bought legally. Keep on smoking the disillusional crack and believing otherwise.

Maybe guns don't kill people, but they damn sure make it easy for people to kill people! "they would have done it anyhow", yeah, like I said above, with their favorite Ping wedge, or maybe the Big Bertha driver if they really felt violent!

Me wonders how soon the resignations will come... more swift action should have been taken after the fist shooting.

But it is too soon to point blame, now is not the time for that stuff.

they probly thought i would be best not to make a big comotion at first once it stoped and the cops didnt come fast enough. they didnt think the guy would go across campus to kill everybody. if the police didnt act when they did, there would be more dead, unless he offed himself. usualy they do, they should just kill theyr dog and then kill themselves or somthing rather then shoot up schools. seriously though, that was a smart one. it wont take long for reall terrorists to figure out that the schools are easy places to terrorize, imagine somthing like this happening at colleges all over the country at the same time.

Your explanation was a canned, politicized, COMPLETELY LUDICROUS answer. I was asking it as a rhetorical question. Things like this happen because someone MAKES A CONSCIOUS CHOICE to commit murder. Don't try to explain this tragedy with political rhetoric. Take your liberal grandstanding somewhere else.

VT seems to not want to close class for anything. I wish they locked down the campus sooner. Maybe we wouldn't have lost so many. Perhaps two shootings on campus in the same year will lead to more intelligent administration, but only time will tell.

But for now let people get a better grasp of things. Let the families be notified. Now is a bit too soon to point blame.

Do you think that every bit of news that happens overseas is broadcast here? Just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Does you GF/Wife tell you every time she masterbates? Probably not, but just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean she isn't doing it.

And I know at least 50 ways to kill someone and none of them include a gun. I can walk up behind you and sink the claws of a hammer in your head to kill you, would you want to ban claw hammers then? Or maybe I could crack you across the skull with my Taylor Made Driver, would you outlaw golf? Get real, where there's a will there's a way. Truely this guy was off his rocker, he could have done this a hundred different ways. Remember 9/11? Over 3000 dead and not a gun was fired.

OK, now as a student at VT, I find politicized crap like this VERY offensive. You live on the other side of the country. STFU!!!Hold your tounge for those who are a bit closer to the incident. And if you don't mind go away for a while and voice your opinions elsewhere I wont need to be bothered by them.

You ignorant jackass. Do you know how firearms are handled on campus legally? What the hell is wrong with people like you ranting on about crap you know absolutely nothing about. GTFO!

Been keeping up with this at work all day. Got friends that got there and everybody is still waiting on word from everyone. I live only 30min away so a lot of people at work were running to the phones to check on kids and fam that work out and go to school there. One of the engineers i work with sister was in a room right next to where it all started. he was able to reach her on her cell and she said they were all trying to stay down and hidden. They finally evacuated her. Hes waiting to hear cause hes pretty sure a couple of the victims were his friends that he was in school with since that was the same building they were all had class in. Everybody has just been kinda numbed by all this. Its weird how the brain just kinda locks and takes a bit to comprehend the enormity of the tragedy at the lives that were lost. My heart goes out to allt he victims and there families.

Agreed...

Remember this from earlier in this thread???
Eikon wrote:Hey Falk, Iowa.. We had a chance to discuss gun control in a previous thread... let's leave any opinions that might be polarizing to ourselves.. .

Can we keep this thread to the topic itself and our condolences to those affected rather than turning this into any kind of argument...

please and thank you!

They are saying this is the worst school shooting in US History now with 21 innocent victims.
Second warning!

It's extremely disrespectful to everyone involved to start pointing fingers and taking sides at this stage. Surely our nation will have many discussions about this in the future regarding gun control, security, etc... But NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR ARGUMENT! Now is a time to grieve and support those who are grieving.

Next person to continue this arguement (Falk) gets a little vacation.

Yeah, even though I am pro gun control, it takes a really classless person to say the things that Falk said. There is no need to be an ******* to get your point across. 32 people have been killed in cold blood, many of them with ties to people on this forum. So please just keep your d!ck comments to yourself and go straight to hell.

I just want to know one thing. If there was a shooting at 7:30am and the suspect was STILL AT LARGE, how in the hell do you notify students BY ****ING EMAIL???!!! If my life is in danger, how is email the best way to tell me that? I mean seriously. I bet if the students had been notified after the first shooting by a means OTHER THAN email, AND the campus had been locked down to find that suspect, the other 29 people probably wouldn't have been killed and the rest wouldn't have been injured.

After having two prior bomb threats, then a shooting at 7:30am this morning, and having the suspect still at large at the time, exactly what does it take for the powers that be at VT to realize that they might want to do something more than type up a ****ing email?

My condences go out to the families and friends of the victims of this tragedy. It's very unfortunate because while it may not have been preventable, it didn't have to be this bad if someone in charge had taken the appropriate action.

The first 911 call was recieved at 7:15 but it wasn't for a shooting, it was believed that someone had fallen out of bed and got hurt. Most of the people that were in the building where the first shooting happened have said that they didn't hear any gun fire.

Falk has been banned indefinitely - No need for further discussion, his posts were way out of line.

This is horrible - a senseless tragedy... Guys, I hate to think of how easy it is to lose someone we care about... For those of you affected by this, in whatever way, I'm thinking of you.

Take an extra minute and send some prayer / positive thoughts towards the friends and families of those involved...
