Nice color! Paint the entire Z that color

Black or red interior on that would be the sex.

for example:

Both pictures are white gold metallic.

Or you could paint the z an original color. Yellow pearlglow maybe? :gotme

Tonight even if we can't apply the primer (due to weather). I'll take the top off the can of paint and see if I can get a better picture of it.

And I love wrinkle black too. If my throttle cover didn't come out good in red/black, I'll be painting it wrinkle as well.

Ok Update!
We pressure washed the engine bay to make sure everything was very clean I didn't get pics of that cause I would cry if the camera got wet haha. Then after the pressure wash we dried everything off and went over everything with paint thinner and paper towl to make sure we had a clean surface. (we have gone through 4.5 rolls of paper towl not the brown roll you see in the first couple of pics :chuckle: )

The weather held out and well the Z got her first coat of primer looks real nice we haven't even wet sanded it yet. I also filled the hicas holes :)

Onto the pics:

We repainted the headlight buckets white before we did the primer they turned out great! We used a white gloss that I had laying around (in a rattle can).

Now for a little surprise!

We painted my g35 wheels to match the engine bay!

All we have to do now is wet sand the engine bay and the wheels to prep them for clear coat.

It's usually not a good idea to wet sand a base coat before clear especially a metallic base.

I didn't know, (just googled) good thing you said something, THANK YOU !!!

We have only sanded the primer.

So how do you correct imperfections on the base coat??

Depends on the imperfections, the only real way is to wait for it to cure and then sand it all back off. Or you can just lay another coat or two of base to cover it and then sand it smooth in the clear if its a high spot.

The imperfections are:
Heavy spots on the core support.
Heavy spot on the LH & RH wheel well.
A damn bump of something that really pisses me off on the RH wheel well.
Drip on the fire wall right by the vin number.

How would I go about correcting those??^^^

If there is no way I can correct the above imperfections. I am thinking about just completely stripping the entire bay AGAIN. Then having a guy that I do lots of business with come over and spray it for me because I want it to seriously be perfect.

What do you mean by heavy spots? With all those spots though I would take some 1000grit and lightly go over the areas that are bad and kind of feather out the edges to avoid any hardlines. Then you should be fine to respray the areas with base coat, just make sure to finish the last pass with a wider fan pattern on the gun to blend in the paint across the section as metallic is easy to mess up and get higher concentrations of flake and cause striping. Clear coat is the hardest to lay down and the area I still stuggle with most as you want to lay down a good wet coat to get that deep shine but if you go to much you will get sags, drips etc. Orange peel is the other thing to worry about but I find that has more to do with how the gun is set up. Make sure your shooting in the right temp range as well for the reducers your using as that will cause problems as well.

Edit: here is a good site I look to for info on paint etc. may find some useful info searcing around there as well.

When I say heavy I mean to much paint the metallic finish doesn't match the rest of the metallic finish due to the amount of paint that has been layed down... There is really not that much problems with it just those listed above.

Thanks for the help! I am going to give it a shot friday night. If all goes well we will spray the next base coat on that would be the third coat of base. Then I will have the pro come in and spray the clear coat.. I am not going to risk ruining it with the clear..

What I may even do is have him come out and take a look at it and let him fix it then have him spray the 3rd coat of base. Followed by the clear once its ready.
