It was tough deciding from either getting the 4cyl or 6cyl.. but then took the gas prices into consideration and I'm sooo freaking glad I got the 2.5L.. not hurting my wallet so much.

yeah I feel you.. I understand folks concern about the gas... but premium is only 20 cents more than regular... so at 17 gallons, you save $3.40 per fill up, so even if you fill up 6 times a month which is 1.5 times a week, you're saving $20 a month... IDK... doen't seem that big of a difference in the long run, especially since I blow way more than $20 on **** every month... but hey i own a 2.5 also, and I enjoy filling up at the 20 cents a gallon less when I fill my wife's car up

2.5 CVT here. I think that combo is the most common one; not only on the forum, but on the streets as well from what I see. Major fan of my 24-25 mpg (strictly city driving)...

and then those with the 2.5 will start talking about how each of there individual cyclinders displace 0.625 liters, and the 3.5's individual cyclinders only displace 0.583 liters, and how theres are bigger.. and it will be complete chaos...

The only 4 cilinder car I considered buying was the Mitsubishi EVO X, but I ended up buying the AC 3.5 with CVT.

For real? Coming from 12-13 mpg (V8 truck), 24-25 is a lot to me anyway, lol.

Also what a lot of people don't think about is that premium also burns slower than regular.. hence better gas mileage.

to be honest i thought that the higher the octane the higher the resistence to premature detination. so i had to look into this, everything im reading says the octane number has nothing to do with the speed of which is burns or as to its power in detonation, but only that a high octane resists premature detonation better then a lower octane

more thought.. also the reason for the better gas mileage is because with lower octane fuel if the fuel knocks/pings, the engine retards the timing as to not screw the engine up, and its not running at its full potential, as it does with high octane which wont knock/ping.

post script. sorry for thread jacking
