AdvanceAuto actually sold me a cabin filter for a 2013 (or 2014 Select) and I didn't find out it was the wrong filter until now, but searching their site for the 2014 filter reveals nothing. Are there any aftermarket cabin filters available for the 2014 Rogue or am I forced to get OEM? Can anyone supply the dimensions of the OEM filter? There has to be an aftermarket filter that fits.
I checked at http://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/ and it says the part number for the 2nd gen OEM filter is 27277-4BU0A, which is also the number they give for the 1st gen. filter. I got the same results at two dealerships selling OEM parts online. Has anyone done a side by side comparison to see if in fact this is the case? It wouldn't be out of the range of possibility that Nissan is in fact using the same filter, but putting the newer model date on the packaging and jacking the rate, hoping no one will catch on. If this is what they've done, you can save money by buying a knock-off one from a reputable ebay seller. Ive purchased several this way and they've performed just like the OEM version at a fraction of the price.

As I mentioned in the previous post, I bought one yesterday at O'Reilly for $10.49 and it looked like an exact match for the OEM part. MicroGard 3718. These filters are somewhat flexible so you can maneuver them in without unbolting the accelerator pedal assembly, at least on a 2012 Rogue. My old filter was totally blocked at 34K miles. Incredibly dirty. Replace at 15k miles minimum.

After looking at the pictures hundred times, removed the side panel per first picture, I still can not figure out where to get the old filter out. Frustrating!!!

Has anyone found out that the previous model and the new model share the same filter or not? The dealer wants $32 plus tax for the filter, or $90 to replace it.

FWIW, I bought a "pronto PC5864" cabin air filter on eBay for my 2014 Rogue SV. The listing (and others like it) say the PC5864 is compatible with the 2014 Rogue. It is NOT the same filter as the OEM cabin air filter. The PC5864 is not as thick as the OEM filter, and it is a bit longer than the OEM filter. After I took the OEM filter out, and could compare it with the PC5864, I went back and looked again online. The same part number is listed as being compatible with the 2008-2013 Rogue. I suspect when listings say the PC5864 is compatible with the 2014, they are talking about the 2014 Rogue Select, which is just the 2008-2013 model rebranded as a 2014. I put the filter in anyway, since I have no idea if the filter is in correctly or not, and I would probably have a harder time deciding if the OEM filter was in correctly or not (LOL). As I said, the filter is a bit longer than the OEM filter, so the "end-cap" piece doesn't go all the way back in, but it seems to be working.

Does anyone know the dimensions of the 2014 air filter. I have an old spare filter for a 2010 Murano that I wanted to check to see if it would fit.

The OEM cabin air filter I have is 9.75" wide x 7.125" high x 1.375" thick. The Pronto PC5864 that I mentioned above is 10.375" wide x 7.5" high x 0.75" thick.

First off many thanks to the forum members who helped document the procedure to change the cabin filter on the 2nd gen Rogue. Here in Phoenix I found that changing the filter is needed every 8 months or so because of the dust in the desert. While I'm still 6 months away from that I do have a question in case the filter gets badly damaged when I remove it. My question is what direction does the air flow arrow on the filter go? Is it towards the engine bay, or towards the interior of the vehicle. Thanks..

When replacing the filter did not seem flush. The side that is visible is not completely straight. Anyone experience this? I'm afraid to take out and try again. Should I even worry about this?

Thanks

I ordered 2 of these and they are an exact match to the Nissan OEM filter. Unfortunately, I have no idea if I inserted the filter correctly. Whoever designed the system must have had their head up where the sun don't shine when they worked on it.

So just to confirm, these are for the 2014 Rogue and not the 2014 Rogue SELECT correct?

Others have complained about how difficult it is to get the old filter out without destroying it, and new filter in without bending it. I haven't got to the point of needing to replace the one in my 2015 Rogue yet, but let me ask a question of those who have replaced it in their 2014/15 Rogue. . If Nissan made the filter 1/8 - 1/4 inch smaller on all sides would it fit in smoothly without having to bend/squish it? If so, maybe all of us who have the 2nd gen Rogue should start writing to Nissan and complaining until they change the dimensions on the filter. I doubt the vent the filter covers takes up the entire size of the filter so making the filter smaller would not compromise it's efficiency.

Yes, they are for the second generation "regular" Rogue, NOT the Rogue Select.

Well, it's not just us on this forum who have trouble removing/installing cabin filters in the 2nd gen Rogue. Took my Rogue in for 1st oil change and noticed on the 27 point inspection, they did not inspect the cabin filter. When I asked Service Adviser why, he said they had problems with the filter shredding when the techs removed them for inspection, so now they don't remove them unless it's to replace them. I give him an A for honesty...

I've replaced mine twice. You have to squeeze it quite a bit to get it in. Second time I replaced it it took less than a minute start to finish.
Before inserting, squish it and insert. Then slide the top a bit, them the bottom a bit more, work it in. Take your time.

It's impossible to see if a smaller filter would work, but I don't think so.

FYI. WIX is showing part number WP10179 as a replacement for the OEM 27277-4BU0A Cabin filter for the 2014-2016 2nd gen Rogue. WIX website shows O'Reilly as one of its retailers. Other name brand companies like FRAM or STP do NOT make a cabin filter for the 2nd gen Rogue as of yet.

I just replaced my Cabin Air filter, it was a real B*TCH to change as I couldn't get the new filter in. Luckily I was able to remove the old one without any problems and it came out in one piece. So I used the old one to try and put back so that I'll have a better understanding of how to put it back in given the old one was more flexible as compared to the new one. And it worked as the old one showed me that there's a "notch" on the top and bottom that I need the filter to go over before the filter can "pop" right in. The new filter isn't as flexible as the old one, though mildly, it did help me a lot as I was able to put the old one back in within a minute. The new filter I got in within three minutes. It took me 15 mins of struggling and cursing before I thought about popping in the old one. I hope this tip helps.

I have a 2015 Rogue Select. What is the big difference between the Rogue and Rogue Select that would affect a simple part such as an air filter? Would that difference apply to the 2015 Rogue Select?

The Rogue Select is a first generation, older style version. The filter placement is different between the first and second gen models.

OK, thanks. So...on the 2015 Select, first gen, which side is the filter on, right or left? (I searched the forum and didn't see anything specific toward my model).

It looks so easy. Gas pedal does not need to be removed.

Seriously, yes! I had seen the video but the latest model Rogue listed was 2011. Since different models (Select, SL, etc.) and different years seem to have the filter on the right or left that was the reason for my question.

Thanks for the video link anyway, I'll see which side it's on now that I know how to remove the panels on both sides.

:slap: You're overthinking this. The body style is the deciding factor. The first gen has the filter on the left (drivers side). The second gen has the filter on the right (passenger side). The year is irrelevant. SELECT indicates that it's a leftover first gen model, otherwise the trim level is irrelevant.

The video is appropriate for ALL years and trim levels of the original body style (1st gen).

OK, thanks. The first gen and second gen thing seems screwed up to me. A newly purchased car such as mine is a first gen, but an older model seems to be a second gen. Is the Select model sort of a b*stard model with no roots?

I change my cabin air filter about once a year on my 2010 Rogue SL AWD. I noticed the fan getting lounder, and a vibration coming from that region (on mine, it is to the right of the gas pedal). When I removed the dirty filter there was a s**tload of leave pieces (I live in central MA). I tried to pull them out with fingers, not much luck. Then with a vacuum cleaner and a crevice tool, I had a tad more luck. Now I am driving with the CAF and cover out and off. Running the floor vent and the fan on low. It is getting better, BUT in the diagrams I found on line, the are comes in the FRE. That is the Fresh Air In.
Someone please tell me where the hell is the input for the cabin air???? Same as the engine air intake? Maybe it splits up at the engine air filter? I just know I'm not dumping 500 - 650 on a new fan!

Just changed mine. I managed to get the old filter out without it ripping too much, which I consider an accomplishment. For anyone wondering, when installing the filter the "arrow" points towards the interior of the car (as opposed to pointing toward the engine). Getting the new one in was a lot easier, but you do have to squish it a good amount to get it in. I assume it expanded fully after it popped in but there's no way to tell. At 30k, the old (factory) filter probably could have gone another 6k or so but it was visibly dirty.

I bought the new one from eBay where the seller was selling both the cabin air filter and the engine air filter together for about $20. Beats paying the $25+ for just the cabin air filter alone.

I have a 2014 Nissan Rogue and my cabin filter is located on the left side, talk about pulling my hair out when I couldn't locate it on the right side. When I was doing my research everyone was saying it was on the right side. I'm guessing midway through the 2014 production year, they decided to change the location or I have a 2013 that was sold as a 2014.
