Could anyone tell me where I might find instructions on how to replace the cabin filter on a 2014?

Thanks this came in handy for me as well. They wanted to replace this at the last service for $50, so I said no and was going to look it up at some point.

Good for you.
Seriously, if you have any dexterity at all, you can do this.

Dealers and their crazy high prices. They sell you a Nissan and they charge you Infiniti service prices. :wtf2:

My dealer wanted to charge me 375$ to replace the spark plugs of my loyal altima '10, and another 350$ to replace the serpentine belt. So, the so-called mayor tune-up of the 100K was going to be around 1000$.

I ended up buying the spare parts and installing them myself, and saving a lot of money. I spend only 170$. :naughty:

I'll do the same with the Rogue when the times comes.

Even with the diagram I can't find the cabin filter.
Can someone a picture of where it's located?
Next week I'm getting an oil change, I'll ask then.

Well, this is embarrassing. Went out and tried to pry off the side panel of a 2015 Rogue SL. Sucker wouldn't budge. :wtf2: Tried feeling around the backside for retaining clips, but couldn't figure out what was holding it firm in place. I asked a service tech if he knew how to remove it, but he said as far as he knew, no one had come it to have theirs replaced, so he wasn't sure how to take the panel off.

I'll have to research this a bit more, as I suspect it may necessitate removing the glove box to remove a screw in an upper panel. Nissan never does anything the easy way.

What a pita to replace! This time Nissan positioned the filter further than previous gen

1.pull the plastic on passenger side towards to the vents:

2. Pull the plastic cover with the ring:

3. Remove the old filter. I had a trouble of removing it so it ripped apart:
Image
4. Put a new one in. Start by folding it slightly so you can fit the beginning. Later on it fit pretty easily:

Put all the plastic back and you are done!

I was finally able to replace the filter two months after I bought it. Dealer wanted 1/2 hour labor, $54.
Thanks everyone for your input and pictures, couldn't have done it alone.

I like your line about dexterity, to do this:
You have to lie on your back, scrunched under the dash
Rip the old filter out, destroying it
To put the new one in:
Crush it to feed it into the slot
Work [push] the edges in one inch at a time
After all that work to get it in, you have no idea if the filter is properly in place because you had to reshape it so much to get it in.
The filter is flimsy, doesn't have a hard edge like a engine air filter.
When I removed the old filter about 1 cup of leaves came out.
I'm at 41,000 miles. Based on how dirty it was I estimate it should be replaced at 35,000 miles.

For what it's worth, on the older Rogues (08, 09, etc.), you get to the cabin filter from the driver's side. You remove the foot garnish, pop off the filter cover, push down the gas pedal and pull the filter out. Reverse to install new filter. I usually shove a (very) small vacuum nozzle in there to get any junk out before putting the clean filter in.

Anyone has a source to get it at best price?

P.S. Manual states in-cabin filter should be replaced every 15k miles or once a year. Is this necessary or can I get more miles/time out of it?

If all you're concerned about is getting it as cheaply as possible, just about any seller on ebay. How often you need to change it depends on where you drive. Do you pass fields or other open dusty areas? If so you may need to change it more frequently. I changed mine every 10K miles.

What else should I be concerned about?

Isn't it a bit too early to be replacing the cabin air filter for a brand new car? How often is it recommended to change the cabin air filter by Nissan? I have a 2013 Rogue and I haven't replaced mine yet and the dealer hasn't mentioned anything about having it changed. It's been a little over a year since I bought mine.

Usually it is recommended to replace the cabin air filter every month.

:bs: Nissan's minimum interval is every three months.

IN-CABIN MICROFILTER
The in-cabin microfilter restricts the entry of airborne dust and pollen particles and reduces some objectionable outside odors. The filter is located behind the glove box. Refer to the “NISSAN Service and Maintenance Guide” for change intervals.

EXPLANATION OF SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE ITEMS: In-Cabin Microfilter
Replace at specified intervals. When driving for prolonged periods in dusty conditions, replace the filter more frequently.

Funny that the manual says the "filter is located behind the glove box." Clearly they need to get that entry corrected, or move the filter behind the glove box, just like nearly every other car manufacturer.

At $23 this filter is WAY OVERPRICED.
My 25x14 home furnace filter is only $4.

When you change yours the first time, based on how dark the filter is, you can easily gauge what mileage is appropriate for you.

I meant to type every year, but somehow I put month instead :gapteeth:
It really depends on the area where you drive. The dirtier the air, the more often you'll need to change it.

!lol! yeah, one month did seems a bit excessive. I have only 25 000 km on my Rogue. I think I'll wait till it's close to 40 000 km and then replace it. Also, I can't find a thread where it was recommended to turn on the blower to high when you have the cabin filter out to flush out and lodged debris etc., in the system. Can someone enlighten us on what direction the air flow should be when the blower is on high to flush out the debris? Towards the floor or straight out venting?

Is there some reason why stores like autozone and advanceauto or aftermarket manufacturer's websites don't seem to have any air filters listed for the 2014 Rogue? AdvanceAuto actually sold me a cabin filter for a 2013 (or 2014 Select) and I didn't find out it was the wrong filter until now, but searching their site for the 2014 filter reveals nothing. Are there any aftermarket cabin filters available for the 2014 Rogue or am I forced to get OEM? Can anyone supply the dimensions of the OEM filter? There has to be an aftermarket filter that fits.

I've been meaning to replace mine. On the 2012 Rogue, you pull a plastic panel just to the right of the accelerator pedal, a little tug and it popped right out. The filter cover is released by pushing down on the tab at the bottom with a screw driver, gently. Holy crap, the old one was dirty @ 34K miles. I had overlooked this. New one was $10.49 + tax at O'Reilly, microGard 3718. The 2011 manual, page VTL-9, says to remove the accelerator pedal assembly. I didn't bother. I was able to maneuver the new filter in without crunching it too much, plus it expands once in place. When you replace the plastic panel, there is a tab that fits into the panel as you slide it back, then just push it into place. Took me 15 minutes. I could do it again in less than 5. I hope I remember the details next time. This post is my notes for next time. The service and maintenance guide says to replace it at 15k miles. I would agree with that!
