I have a stock 93 240sx with about 120k miles. I have a friend who has a honda prelude, and im pretty sure he doesnt have any mods. It has pop-up headlights so I know its a pre 92 model. Ive ridden with him and he drives like a dumbass (cruising at 5500rpm). Think I could take him?

Try it and find out. But my friend ran a 15.7 in a stock SI Prelude years ago. He's quite a good driver on a drag strip though. I rarely see 2.3 60 foots out of Hondas on Street tires which he did. We both ran a 15.7 on that run, and that was when I had my 91 240.

it will be close regardless, since they do have higher horse, but again if you get him on the highway, you got him!

They do not have higher HP. The 89-92 (or whatever the exact years are) are completely slow, they got no HP and no torque. But as was already stated; race him and find out.

It's not there anymore, nor will it be. I'm assuming you're referring to the link that K Car had there, to see who could beat who. I really miss that FAQ. I think the FAQ being gone will be my whole reason for me to eventually transfer to 240sxforums.com.

Oh yea. Preludes from the 80's suck to answer that question. I have a video of me wasting an 80's Prelude by what seems to be 15+ car lengths. It was this exact riced out Lude.

actually i think the prelude 92 up non v tech's have like 150 hp and the v tech's have 190 hp. but the prelude is a very heavy car so they really are not that fast.

no matter what, in the end he has a FWD honda and you have a RWD Nissan. You're a better person:D

The pre 92's had 140 hp in the 2.1, and 135 in the 2.0. They weighed 2639 lbs.

Now I dont have any ideal on the 240's weight. But as is common knowledge, 155 hp.

And who said something about jumping ship to the other forum????? This is the best 240 site on the web. Just because someone took their toys and went home doesn't mean we will be with out a FAQ's forever. I am surprised there isn't already someone replacing it.

92-96 Si=160 HP, 156lb ft torque. Heavy? an SI weighs in at 2,866 lbs s14 SE weighs 2760. Not too much of a difference. Everyone thinks preludes are really heavy. A base 5th gen weighs 2950lbs that's not too heavy, there are plenty cars out there that weigh more.

I am not sure of any numbers about the prelude, but I do know that on the highway a 99 prelude pulled along side me and I made him look pitiful. This was in my stock 95.

Must have SUCKED at driving, cause i drive a 98 prelude regulary and it would kill my car. I know someone in a almost stock 97 prelude who hung w/ a wrx on the highway. But Vtec and the preludes top end would kill us. Top speed slightly over 140.

hung wit a wrx hmmmm...IDK about that bro. rather they lied or thw wrx was bored and was looking for some entertainment. anyway what about a last gen. (IDK the gen's) prelude automatic vs. 91-98 240. whould it be the same or will the all mighty stick have an advantage?

I just heard it from a friend so not positive, but think about it wrx weighs a bit more and gets a helluva good start w/ AWD but i hear they aren't too too quick in the top end stock, the prelude had cai and exhaust i think. I think w/ a really good driver the 240 stick could win...but who knows...

You should smoke him if you drive your car well. My friend has a stanza which has the KA24E engine and he smoked the **** out of an old school integra, it had a DOHC engine. Hondas arent really that fast so dont be intimidated. I know as ive owned one.

i dont understand what the fuss is all about but our 240's arent that quick of a car. they are fun, yes, fast no. Almost everyone on this board is just too stuck up with their RWD nissan BS that its pitiful to see just how ignorant these people can get. Yes, lots of hondas are pretty slow, but considering i own a prelude and a S14, i could tell you each of the cars strenghs and weakness. Dont underestimate all hondas. Preludes and their VTEC is not just a lable, it can actully do something. just for kicks, the prelude is a more refined and sophisticated car than the 240.

I wasted a 99 prelude with mods in a street race. After I beat him he waned to race for money. I knew he had N02, but he didn’t think he needed it to beat my 240! This happened the day of Hot import nights in Orlando.

ok umm...bob does your s14 holds an sr20...? if so would you be packing the s13 sr20 or the s14 sr20 with vvt? if so then your smoking some serious trees to say that or cars aren't fast. even our slightly modded ka24s can become deadly engines. to say our cars aren't fast also depends on what type of racing you are talking about. our cars aren't drag cars even still saying our cars aren't fast is ludicrous. last time i checked, the preludes are carring their jdm engines the h22 compared to our ka24dohc pretty damn sure nissan of america motors.

Ok, can someone pls verify this. Im in a situation right now where I own a 1991 prelude S, running 135 hp, no a/c or power anything. (Im new to the board btw)

I can't afford to keep my car, the payments for it are too expensive, so I want to sell it and get a s13 240sx. Im pretty new to the 240 scene, so im just wondering a few things

I read that the 89-90? i think.. has 155hp (stock), if thats true, 1. What would it run in the 1/4mile approx2. Could it take my lude of the line, and/or on the track (1/4)3. whats its max speed approx

Im living up in Canada and Ive found some cars for sale ranging in the 5 grand range for a basic 89, all stock. (about 3,200 american) Is that too expensive and also I read that the 91-94 I think have some sort of better engine or something, so is it worth waiting for a 91 to be on sale. And what would the price difference be between a 90 and a 91.

Sorry, I sort of got off topic there, im just anxious because this car won't be on sale for long, and I want to make sure im making the right decision. Ive had my lude for over a year and havent had one problem with it at all.

btw, is FWD better then RWD considering im up in Canada, there is a lot of snow, and FWD has been good, but I thought RWD wasnt good for in the winter. My biggest concern is if an 89-90 240 can take my 91 lude S. Thanks!
