uhh, whats that supposed to mean. just face it, preludes are not as fast as you think they are. maybe you just dont know how to drive your 240 if you think your prelude is so much quicker.

Why is everybody talking about a '92 Prelude? He said PRE '92. Even the '91 2.0SI only had 135hp and weighed 2639lbs.(edmonds.com). I think a stock 240 would take it.

since I love both the silvia and the prelude, I thought I'd pass on a little info on the prelude since its being ripped to **** here by misinformation: :D

--------------------------------------5th gen (97+) vtec:

USDM: H22a4 195-200HPstock 1/4: 15.1 - ?

JDM: H22a 200-220PS (Type S)stock 1/4: ?--------------------------------------

4th gen (92-96) vtec:

USDM: H22a1, 190HP @6800stock 1/4 mile: around 15.0 -15.2

JDM: H22a, 200ps ~197HP stock 1/4: 14.8 - 15.1

Weight: anywhere from 2730 - 2900 lbs depending on options.

--------------------------------------

The 4th gen has the advantage in straight line speed, weighing slightly less in general than the 5th gen and having slightly better (closer) gearing.

Both have great independent suspension setups and a fairly rigid chassis and handle pretty well for ff cars imo.

4th gens running pretty good times:

13.74 w/ JDM H22a and boltons:http://www.superhonda.com/foru...00858

Another in the High 13's N/A:http://www.superhonda.com/foru...82048

There's a few others, but the're over on PreludeOnline.com which is now a pay to view site.

Honestly, both the prelude and the silvia are great cars; why does one have to suck for the other to be good????

Sweeet.

I had a 91 prelude before my 240. It handled really well for a front drive- very taught suspension (it felt lighter than it was), and excellent seats so you could really trust what the car was doing. Then I got my 240 and discovered the joys of RWD! Once I lowered it and added plus sized wheels, it totally decimated any thoughts of how good the prelude was.

And no doubt, a stock 240 with a good launch would take it.

the non vtecs i dont think are very impressive. My friend has a 93 vtec with cold air and header and the car has 150k on it and she ran a 15.1. She is not a good driver and had some horrible 60 fts, that car is a high 14 sec car. I think that the vtec are low 15s like they say, i have seen them run 15.1 and 15.2s stock at our track. 240s are not fast stock, i love them but its true. They are great because of there potential

The 4th and 5th gens Preludes are nice, but doesn't have the torquey feeling I like. My sister owns a 98 Prelude SH and boy I can't squeeze any juice out of it, perhaps I'm use to driving my 240 with sr? She offered for a trade for my 89 coupe w/ sr...should I trade?:D I know I Know..j/k! She loves the torque in my car, as soon as you get to 2500+ rpm the turbo just starts pulling you to the seat. 205 hp turbocharged compared to 200 hp n/a vtec is waaaaaay different!

funny how this thread was brought up again.. and a known fact about preludes is that a 93 sh(h23) is slow as fukk.. i dogg that car all the time even on the freeway.. well up to 114mph.. i mean it has alot of hp 150.. not 160 or 155 like other ppl were saying.. and all of u all are talking about si-vtecs.. and the original topic was 92-pre.. and yes those r 135hp.. thats the best u can get out of themjoe

Okay, Lets say you are stock and he is stock.

If it's a '91 and below. You should smoke him. These are too slow.

If it's a '92-'96 S Model Engine=F22 (Accord Motor). You should smoke him.

If it's a '92-'96 Si Model Engine=H23A (160bhp). You can beat it. Not by alot though, but you can beat it.

If it's a '92-'96 VTEC Engine=H22A1 (190bhp). You will loose. You'll pull ahead in the launch because of torgue, but he will come up fast and beat you by 1-2 cars length.

If it's a '92-'96 VTEC JDM Engine=H22A (200bhp). Same as above. Just a little faster.

If it's a '92-'96 VTEC JDM Type-S=H22A (220bhp). You will deffinately loose.

If it's a 97-98 VTEC Engine=H22A4. Same as '92-96 VTEC. Maybe a little slower.

I have a 92si/VTEC Engine=H22A4 (Intake, Exhaust, Body Kit, 17" Rims) and I ran against my friend's '91 240SX Engine=KA24DE(Intake, Exhaust {3"}, S-AFC, Body Kit), he's a good driver also, and I beat him by 2-3 Car length and I had a bad launch. (Sort of like letting him go first kind of a bad launch).

Stock KA24DE has torgue, but I really hate the high end. But at the end of modding both cars, I believe the 240SX will beat any preludes and is a great car. But for stock to stock, just let it be. You could always try it and tell us the info you have gathered.

But as for your situation, you had said that he as pop-up lights. Which means that he has a '91 and below. You should smoke him with no problem.
