let me be the first to say welcome to our disfunctional family. now if you really want a responds from your post "I read that the 89-90? i think.. has 155hp (stock), if thats true, 1. What would it run in the 1/4mile approx2. Could it take my lude of the line, and/or on the track (1/4)3. whats its max speed approx", start up a new thread. copy your post and print on a new opening thread.

89-90 (S13) 240 only care 144hp. SOHC mabe mid to low 17'sthe 91-98 (Silvia) are 155 DOHC i think some where in th 16's

considering the 240's are RWD and our cars care alot of torque yes.

check the vin on it before you buy.

actually the silvia's like i said before packs the KA24DE motor which means 11 more over the S13 KA24E.

yeah im pretty sure the S13 can take the lude with no problem.

Thx for the reply, its greatly appreciated. Well, I guess I should probably wait to get a 91 as opposed to the 89-90.

yeah espeacily if your think of going with the sr20 motor swap. with the 91-and up, you get to keep you power steerting unlike the 89-90 where you loss them.

Thats good to know, I never knew that. Although I don't imagine I will be during any engine swaps for a while, since im broke.

This is the car I was looking athttp://canadatrader.com/trader...=1001

That is in canadian dollars, do you think that is a good price. How much more would I expect to pay for a 91. I can't go much more then they are charging.

btw The reason I posted here was because I noticed a lot of you don't like new topics that can be fit in other topics. Since we were talking about hondas and nissans, I figured I should post here.

hey no problem. i really don't mind. it's just our older brothers get's pissed off. i think it is. i know living down here a 91 would cost like 3.500 well maintained. but that is because the people who sell them down here are private owners. 240's aren't that common around where i live it. IDK for you.

Well, Ive searched throughout the country and there are about 40 240SX's for sale in the entire country! So, not much to choose from. The cheapest 91 I found was nearly 9 grand, so about 6 american. And I can't afford that. Can the 89-90 engine have a turbo put it, i/h/e etc, so even though an engine swap might not be possible, I could do some small mods. I know with my prelude, since I have an S, there are next to no mods for it. But the SI can have a lot done to it. With the 240, are you restricted that way with an 89-90 compared to the 91. This topic has sort of turned into a "Help me find a 240" ha

No. actually, it all depends on what your looking for. If your going for turbo, it will all have to be customed. http://www.240sx.org/links/ins...x.htm this guy build his custom turbo and got some pretty good numbers out of it.

Intake= injen aemheaders= pacesttersexhaust=HKS, ApexI, Greddy, GPsports, Borla, Blitz, etc.cehck the search or check out http://www.enjukuracing.com/ and http://www.afterdark-tuning.com/engines.html#parts is where a few of us go to order parts for our cars. I thikn we get discounts with enjukuracing im not sure.

I hope you are not talking the 97 up prelude...but if you are not, you're new 240 would whoop your lude ***. See, the lude has the F series engine, which is a HONDA ACCORD. To make the story short, it sucks. You can still get your 91ish 240 up to 16.5 or maybe faster, but a lude, you can't even peel out 2nd gear...there fore, you would likely see the 18's or 19's quarter mile mark. My stock old 97 Civic EX ran 17's flat and i'm sure that it would would the lude by like 2-3 cars length...

Well, supposidly, my car can hit about low 17's, but that is the SI, mine should be able to hit mid 17's. Ive never taken it to the track, but Ive been on lude boards for a while and they all say there stock 3rd gen ludes can hit low 17's. Although you may be right. However, from what Ive read about the 240, it would win, not to mention what ive learned from SilviaLuvr.

Aside from my S14 I also own a 99 Prelude Vtec, and the Lude is pretty damn quick ... so I think it would be close.

it should be a close match because the 97 up lude vtec is pretty heavy...however, 190 hp is a lot...they run mid 15 or low 15 or so...I'm not sure about S14, especially with a KA24DE...interesting match though, but my money would be on the lude.

Yea, those 97up ludes are pretty fast, but im just wonderingThat link to the Turbo installation. Does anyone know how much it would cost for me to buy and pay for install of that same setup? Would it be around 4 grand or so?

i think that the 97 up vtec preludes are 205hp. i know two people that have them and they both told me that. i know the 92-96 vtec's are 190hp.

the 97 to 99 prelude has 195 HP and the 2000-2001 has 200 HP...I know they are some where around 195 to 205 but those were honda's specs. Anyways, the 92-96 prelude has: F series, which is only like around 100 ponies, the si has 160 and the si vtec has 190. Not all 92-96 has 190 HP...I'm not sure when they made the 190 in the 92-96 model lude.

I'm sure that the guy above was asking for a normal lude, which is with the accord motor. Unless he posted another post about the exact model of the lude, then it would be a different story if it's a SI or Si Vtec.

hmm being the owner of both a prelude (modded Si) and an s13 (ka24e gearing up for a swap) i will tell you a 92+ lude will rock a stock s13 and s14. i took my friend's 95 240 by about 2 cars without nitrous. he had i/h/e i had basically the same thing. the lude vtec will run a high 14 1/4 mile with the right driver and some of the 4g models (92-96) have 4 wheel steering. The Prelude S (F22) has something like 130hp and is the same motor that most Accords have. The Si (H23A) has 160 hp and about 156 ft/lbs torque and runs a mid-low 15. The Si-Vtec and SH have 195-200hp with 161 ft/lbs torque. The Prelude Type S (JDM) has 220hp stock. The 240 is very similar to the Prelude in my opinion, with a fast JDM model and some mediocre USDM models. Just something to think about :)

i raced and beat a pre 92 si prelude, but i dont think the driver was that good, unless you are suppose to stall the engine when the light turns green! easy win.

Hell yeah to that! I've got a Stanza. And i've beatten the crap out of 89-91(Nonvtec) ludes, any year stock civic, several old 'moded' civics, hung gear for gear with an old(88-9X, dont really knwo) mild VWGolf, and had a VW GTI off the line, and then got handed my as s. I would say that an S13 should be EAILY take any of the old ludes.. I cant be sure of anything with Vtech tho.

one of the only cars ive ever lost to was a 98 lude VTEC w/ I/H/E and cams i think, along with light rims and Z rated rubber. we raced in the rain so that might be why he whooped me (i did burn about 60 ft of posi). but yeah, he beat me pretty bad (stock 91 at the time)

not all 92 + ludes are fast. i know the vtechs are but the others are not. my friends 92 si -non vtech has i/h/e z rated tires does not run mid-low 15. hes more like high 16's and its a 5 speed too and hes not a bad driver. we have raced many times and i have always smoked him.

I'm actually surprised by this, but I beat my girlfriend's 88 Prelude Si from 60 to 85MPH on the highway. I have a 1990 240sx with a billion miles and not running in great shape. The thing is, her car has 135HP and weighs 2600lb... the 240 has 140HP and weighs 2700lb... Seems like an even match, if anything, the prelude would be faster. But it must be that torquey powerband of the 240SX that pulls it ahead.

I wouldn't get too c0cky (stupid censor) with the 92+ Preludes. Whoever had the 4th generation modded Si running high 16s is retarded... his car is screwed up, or he is. That car, in stock form, runs mid 15s. A 4th generation VTEC model has 190HP and will waste a stock 240SX, any year. The 5th generation (1997-2001) are all VTEC, 195-200HP depending on year. They will also waste a 240SX, any year.

1992 prelude si has 160hp@5800rpm and weighs 2886lbs.1992 240sx has 155hp@5600rpm and weighs 2730lbs.

should be evenly matched.

Preludes are dogs, even the new ones. I straight kill 4th gens all day long. The 88-91s are even more of a joke. The only ones I personally struggle with are the 98-2k. Your friend can't drive his 240. An S14 will romp on them pre-98s. Don't lump S14s, or DE S13s in with your anemic KA24E.

A prelude with just I/H/E usually do not run high 14s, and if 4 wheel steering was so great they would have kept it. I read a whole article in SCC how over the years the Prelude has been the guinea pig for a bunch of crappy useless systems (4 wheel steering, ATTS).

haha, you 240 owners make me laugh. i can understand most people on this board say thw 240 is better than lude. its a 240 site duhh right! WRONG, I have a 95 prelude Si and a 95 240sx se. 2 different cars. prelude is top end baby! it is a much more precise car and steers much better than our S14s. driving my lude is like an art compared to the 240, it is a nice fun car, but cant revv worth crap, shifter is mushy unlike the crisp prelude shifter. 240 has the low end torque, but dies after 5500 rpm. give up guys, 240 is a fun car but is no prelude. styling, design, and quality. newer ludes would win. probably not the 3rd g

They would win? AT WHAT? Why do I beat them, often?

I didn't say they weren't "nice" but I've driven a 94 lude and a 2000 lude and was thoroughly unimpressed by both. The 2000 was absolute garbage till 5500. You are right thought, they will beat a 240...top end. Draggin it is a dog.

Believe me I am aware that 240s aren't all that great, but neither are Preludes.

I can't compare handling since my car has coilovers and the 'ludes had springs/struts. Stock I assume the Lude will handle better, but any modification and the 240 owns...

My friend's puny *** LS powered Civic beats them all consistantly, easily, and usually by about 2 or 3 car lengths, and his car isn't even that fast.

But in the end, neither car is all that good anyway, they both got discontinued...

PS Styling and design? The Prelude is downright ugly, and it was "designed" to be FWD, what's so great about that?

styling, design, quality??? uhh i think the 240's got the prelude beat in those catigories. i think s14's look 10 times better than the preludes. and you talk like their soooo fast, well the only ludes i can consider kinda fast are the vtech's, the 92-96 non vtechs are slowwww. my friend has a 92 prelude si with i/e/h and more and ive raced him many times when i was stock and beat him. my other friend has a 95si and i can kill it. now i know the 92-96 vtech and the 97+ are pretty quick but all the others aint s**t.

I raced a 93-95 (not sure what year) VTEC lude and smoked him. I was kinda surprised, because I thought the VTECs were fast. My 93 fastback was bone stock at the time, and the lude had exhaust, at least. It was absolutely no contest.
