First post here, and maybe the last...
Hopefully Nissan sees this. I had decided upon the Mazda CX-5 for myself. Good price, good MPG, handles well, and has everything I want/need. All the online reviews/videos raved about it!!!!
Then I went to the owner forums and found that a lot of owners are having issues with windshields breaking right down the center, and Mazda not caring, nor covering them. Seems like they are using very thin glass to keep the weight of the vehicle down to help with MPG. 2nd, a lot of owners with AWD are experiencing very noticeable outside mirror shake, and hood shake. Mazda cobbled together some extra brackets that get hidden in the door for the mirrors, and the addition of some foam (I believe its spray-on foam) to quell the hood vibration. Prone to broken windshields and lots of vibration...So, the CX-5 is off my list.
My next choice was the Rogue in AWD. Again, basically everything I wanted, rave reviews online, very good MPG and nicely styled/appointed inside and out. I go to the owner forums and find out about the CVTs being none too reliable. Deal killer for me!!! (unless something major is done SOON). And then maybe you will have to buy a $1500 transmission cooler out of your own pocket just to make the car work properly. Rogue...not a reliable vehicle it appears!
My next research is going to be the Forester and CR-V (I currently own a 2003 CR-V, with 150,000 trouble-free miles, but don't really care for the new model).
The thing is, I will probably end up with a car I don't really love, but one that is hopefully/expectedly reliable! So, maybe Nissan will see they've lost a potential customer (I did own a 2002 Sentra that my daughter wrecked about a year after we bought it). No Nissan/Jatco CVT for me...
