This is not the first time I'm installing an In-dash Nav stereo. I've done two more before and I'm not an amateur. I wouldn't even attempt to install a complicated setup like the one I did if I didn't know what I was doing. My only problem was that getting correct information about 2012 Rogue was very hard. Most of the info was for 2011, because of that I may have made a mistake in assuming all the dash openings are the same size.

again, you didnt use a full dash kit. you reinstalled the original dash bezel, when it should have been replaced with something that will cover more area and give it the standard double-din cutout.
the stock bezel's are often different sizes, shapes, roundness, etc.
for example: 2008 rogue. the radio is the shape of the bezel. its a double din - but its contoured to fit the dashboard. to place a double din into that area, you need a whole new bezel to fit the contour the radio used too, and then create the standard box shaped to fit aftermarket double din headunit.
the same goes for GM cars that are 1.5din and often ROUND shaped:

SO HOW TO YOU INSTALL A STANDARD
SQUARE DIN OR DDIN HEAD UNIT INTO A HOLE THATS ROUNDED IN THE CORNERS? == DASH KIT!!! it will create the rounded edges for the original size, and then square the inside up for the new aftermarket headunit.
