Hi
I have started to notice that my 2010 Rogue has a whining sound when it shifts from 5th to 6th gear, between 2500 to 3000rpm.

Will try to explain it in a better way :)

When I am driving within city limits, I don't normally cross 80, and there's no whining sound when the RPM moves between 2000 to 4000 RPM.

When I am driving on highway at around 100kmp/h and RPM is under 2500rpm, there is no sound as well. But the moment I hit the pedal (Touch 80+kmp/h) and rpm goes beyond 2500, there is a whining sound until it crosses 3000rpm. Once I go 120+ and the rpm falls back, the sound disappears.

So basically, on speeds above 100+ and if am accelerating b/w 2500-3000rpm, I get a sound.

Was wondering if anyone knows what it could be? I have taken a video of the sound, but cant upload it here.

Thanks

The CVT does not have any gears. When was the last fluid change?

I am not sure when it was done. I just purchased it from someone 2 weeks back.

:welcome:

Can you contact the previous owner to get details on the service history? If not, I'd recommend taking it to your local Nissan dealership to have them inspect the CVT fluid. If they've done previous work on the vehicle, they can give you those details. Also try to find out if this is the original CVT, or if it was replaced under warranty.

Nissan recommends servicing the CVT every 30,000 miles. It may be overdue for service, and it's possible that replacing the CVT fluid might solve your problem.

EDIT: Upload your video to YouTube, then post the link for it here as a reply.
