There's no way it's an Altima in any sort. The hood is way to short, the body lines are wrong, there's no turn signals on the mirrors, and there'd be no reason to do a complete redesign on a vehicle that's only been out for 3 years. Everything about that picture is too small.
Seriously, it's not the Altima.
You can't tell the hood depth from a 2d pic at this angle. I bet if you got down to close to grill height on your car and took a pic it would look similar.
This is NOT a complete redesign, this is just the mid-model refresh, they did the same thing after about 3 model years with the 2002 sedan (refreshed for 2005), as do most car makers.
Nissan would HAVE to update the coupe at the same time due to the shared metal and parts between the cars. It would be INCREDIBLY cost inefficient to keep making the parts and have the factory tooled for both the older metal and parts for the coupe and newer stuff for the sedan. Also it would break the continuity of the model line.
I do believe this shot is of the 2.5s Coupe, I cannot see fogs or turn signals on the mirrors, and it's possible they are using the 2.5 for this particular ad. If it's an ad about fuel efficiency or whatever they may want to show a 2.5 during part of the shoot.
Overall, I'm not sold. I was really hoping for a more substantial tuck on the lights and the grille. Guess we'll see how the sedan front end looks (coupe is not for me).
I would guess they are going to bump the HP to about 275 on the SR, just to move it ahead of the Mazda 6 and the Accord.
Not that I should really be looking to trade in my car anyway
