Good luck on your rebuild. Vids are really cool. Which shop you plan on using this time around?? Doing some research myself on a very good SR engine builder for my side build.

I know, I was just trying to save a few bucks, lol. Oh well, I'm ordering up a TQ plate, and after I use it, I'll rent it out.

Thanks! For my tune, PSI in Portland, OR will be doing that. As for the machine work, there is a very reputable SR machinist in Portland that I'll be using.

Old original OE long block that has 200k on the clock (140k from me, always ran Royal Purple 10w40), and still has perfect compression.

Sucks about the detonation :( . So is that block a paper weight or you gonna be able to bore it, sleeve, and stroke it down the line?? :naughty:

Well there you have it SR haters. 200k on the original engine and still perfect for a turbo engine.

I'm just selling it off for cheap. It'll work great for sleeving but nothing more than that, ha ha.

And the last 14k of that motor had 20 psi via my GT30 and got me into the 11s...

Did you have/do you plan to have WPC treat anything else (bearings, rods, etc.)?

Not at the moment. When you use a high film strength oil like royal purple, the need to wpc treat the bearings is pretty insignificant. The rods would also have been a waste of money for the power I'll be putting down (only about 500 or so). I'd like to treat the cams and valve springs however, but I'm pretty limited on money at the moment. If I can afford it before the motor goes together, then I will as turnaround is only a few days!

Another small update: Block and associated parts have been sent off to the machine shop!

I see. Would you mind PM'ing me or posting the costs for each item? I really want to do this when I rebuild if it's not too much

I still may send off the cams before I finish the motor, but for now I don't have the money. It just depends if I can sell more 240 parts, ha ha.

Well my crank scraper/baffle/windage tray setup FINALLY got here! Almost 2.5 months of waiting for this to be finished! Now it's off to the machine shop to finally get the bottom end machined and put together. More updates soon hopefully, lol.

Please tune this b**** on E85 with the AEM......

I have been fallowing your build for YEARS.... I sold my white coupe in 2009 to buy a house and I went 11.78@116 with the 2871R in 2008. I'm building another gray 91 coupe now with a fresh built stock internal SR, enthalpy dual tune, and a MHI 20g turbo. This car should go 11's also.

Your car with 87mm 9-1 pistons and the twin scroll setup would be sweet on E85 since your going AEM. I chose the enthalpy switchable 93/110 race gas rom tune for price. I will have between $5-6K in this car and it should make all you can thru a T2 with stock intake and cams.... I'm sure I'll go Tomei cams this fall.

It's going to be gas (switchable pump to race) powered, lol. I don't have the injectors to support E85, this car is being built for road racing over drag racing (even though I do that as well, and I want to be able to drive the car up and down the west coast.

Just read through your whole thread. What a rollercoaster ride it's been. Props to you for sticking it out and not giving up. What shop did you go with for the second build?

You're telling me, lol. I just hope it'll be worth it in the end! I didn't go through any performance shop this time, just a machine shop that has a lot of experience building SRs. I always forget the name of it, lol. I will be doing the assembly myself.

Nice, what are you going to set your rev limiter? I see you got that ATI-damper, thats a nice piece.

Bottom end is being dynamically balanced to 9k. Will probably set the rev limit to 8700 or so. It really just depends on where I make power and if it'll be worth going that high. The cams I'm running aren't top end cams (260 duration 12mm lift). Yeah, the ATI is the only non stock pulley I'd ever buy.

Lol. I may end up selling the cams, but I'm going to wait until I see what my powerband looks like.
