For those that were very interested in the soon-to-be-released K&N intake, I've taken the liberty of adding the rest of the pics of it...

According to the K&N employee that has this in his Altima, it's a bit quieter than the Injen but more functional (just look at the heat-shield pulling double-duty there!)

@LBC:Well...I've always been a K&N brandwhore! Never been even remotely disappointed with their products, so I figure I'll stick with them...brand loyalty 'n stuff y'know!

@didjros69:ETA is 4-6 weeks (or so the rumor goes!). I'll be first in line in the Calgary area!

K&N imo are the only people who really do development rihgt...it has to go through lots of road testing and other quality control testing that most intakes on the market dont do

that WAI looks good. I almost prefer them tbh. I bought an off brand CAI for my car i have now, and i didnt have the heard to drill through the fender to let the cooler air in.

WAI have one thing over CAI, depending on the placement of the filter, you can potentially drown your car through a deep as puddle, never worth the chance to me.

K&N is a fantastic filter brand, i had one as well in my car and if i get the 3.5, i will definitly purchase a K&N WAI, if they offer it or i will have to design a custom one haha. The other CAI kits are rediculous in price IMO, id rather go with something road trusted.

Absolutely. The CAI they designed for the Scion xA/xB/Toyota Echo is like nothing else on the market. It's shorter than the AEM designed one (but still lets in the cool air without nearly as much fear of hydrolock) and only has two bends in the whole damn thing! The AEM had about six I think... Same thing for the Mini Cooper...really simple, but highly efficient design. I wonder why more people don't use the K&N Typhoon system...price perhaps? Regardless, I've always been a fan of their products and until they really screw up I'll pay the cash!

...also, it's really nice to get a little bit of special lovin' for our 2.5s!

Why am i rushing?

Well the injen has way to many issues along with price. The fujita is nice but hmm ive never really heard of them

I have had K&N in the past, and i know how much research and testing goes on to make the best product.

I think that covers it

^^^^ What he said!

I'm not sure about the Stillen intake, but have you noticed where the MAS is located on the K&N as opposed to the others? It's nicely tucked away so there's very little chance of tugged wires, etc. Also, the heat shield pulls double duty in that it connects itself to the original "scoop" thingy <-- Obviously words are escaping me at the moment...lol

i used to love the sound of it (now i cant hear it bc of the nismo catback)...

Whats the estimated price on this?

Not at all mate! Just a couple questions for ya though...you've got the 2.5, right? How does the Nismo catback sound on it? Do you have a GOOD vid or a soundclip (cuz all the ones I've found were kinda crappy)? Also, did you notice any power gains with it? I'd really like to know because more often than not, I've been disappointed with the exhaust note with aftermarket pipes on 4 cylinder cars (too fartcan-ish...). I do, however, love the deep roar of an intake. So...that combined with the stock exhaust (which I actually really like the mellow purr of) would be ideal for me, provided there really aren't any power gains to be had from an aftermarket catback...

...wow, I really can't write worth a **** this morning!

Oh, and the estimated price on the K&N is sub $300...but you can expect it to me more than the other ones on the market.

yeah but thats MSRP....you can usually get it for a little cheaper...it'll probably be arouns 280ish....clost to injen pricing but 100x better

FINALLY K&N!! YES! I'm glad I didn't jump on the Injen band wagon, patience is a virtue!....this intake looks awesome! And its funny cause I saw the same type of intake installed on a mustang on one of the shows on speed channel and it looked awesome, esp since they did a great job with the heat shield and uses the existing intake piping from the front!....My NISMO and Eibachs should be here within a month at the dealership, by that time the intake should be available too!! This is gonna be a great summer!

PS - I have had great experience with K&N, i remember when I had my '03 accord and i did my first mod - K&N cai. After my car was trashed I took out the filter and I still have it, it wasn't used much...but I've had it sitting there all these years and now I can finally use it if I ever need a replacement

I wasnt really planning on an exhaust, but i got it for $540 delivered so i bit...I just dont think that a point n shoot camera can capture the tone of the exhaust.... Ive tried... and ive seen others... it doesnt do justice... as far as gains... i feel it pick up a little faster, but im not an experienced "dyno-butt" so i cant honestly say... I got the fujita on ebay for 150 delivered with a duffelbag... although i cant hear it anymore... i couldnt be more pleased with it... I also took out all that black plastic nonsense (where he has the K&N sticker) to give more room in the bay and add visibility to my (on order via sponsorship) Killerglass.com radiator piping...

Im surprised that people don't see why this is better then the other intakes out in the market right now. Just look at the pictures, out of the 4 or so other intakes, this is the first one that actually HELPS prevent the hot air from the engine getting sucked into the intake. Sure it doesn't eliminate it completely but if you compare this to the injen, weapon-R, stillen and the fujita, this is the most practical intake amongst them all. Dont get me wrong, i love my fujita but this is CLEARLY function over flashiness.

ok, well givin that first of all I have a small brain incapeable of retaining any knowledge what soever.. lol.. is there any way to prove this is better than lets just say the injen intake(one if have) because if not how can anyone just jump to conclusions and say it is? with my injen i can hear, and feel a difference.. a good one. but like i said i know very little so are there any numbers or ways to prove one is truely superior to the other? I like to have close to or the best( seems pointless to me to do something halfway) so id love to switch if someone can sell me on on this. I dont want to have something if I could easily get something that works better.

are they working on the 3.5 as well? I am no expert but just looking at the actual unit compared to the others it looks almost stock and very well built.

ijen and stillen need to find a way to "ram" air to the fliter which is tucked away from any direct air blast....this unit looks like it does it nicely...keeping the warm air away from the filter and directing cold air from the front of the car to the filter...like the stock filter box did....
