K&N imo are the only people who really do development rihgt...it has to go through lots of road testing and other quality control testing that most intakes on the market dont dodldjros69 wrote:i hope i have this intake installed in 4 to 6 weeks.
What is the hold up?
I want to know if there are any power gains?
Absolutely. The CAI they designed for the Scion xA/xB/Toyota Echo is like nothing else on the market. It's shorter than the AEM designed one (but still lets in the cool air without nearly as much fear of hydrolock) and only has two bends in the whole damn thing! The AEM had about six I think... Same thing for the Mini Cooper...really simple, but highly efficient design. I wonder why more people don't use the K&N Typhoon system...price perhaps? Regardless, I've always been a fan of their products and until they really screw up I'll pay the cash!TheBourneAltimatum wrote:K&N imo are the only people who really do development rihgt...it has to go through lots of road testing and other quality control testing that most intakes on the market dont do
yeah but thats MSRP....you can usually get it for a little cheaper...it'll probably be arouns 280ish....clost to injen pricing but 100x betterESP wrote:Not at all mate! Just a couple questions for ya though...you've got the 2.5, right? How does the Nismo catback sound on it? Do you have a GOOD vid or a soundclip (cuz all the ones I've found were kinda crappy)? Also, did you notice any power gains with it? I'd really like to know because more often than not, I've been disappointed with the exhaust note with aftermarket pipes on 4 cylinder cars (too fartcan-ish...). I do, however, love the deep roar of an intake. So...that combined with the stock exhaust (which I actually really like the mellow purr of) would be ideal for me, provided there really aren't any power gains to be had from an aftermarket catback...
...wow, I really can't write worth a **** this morning!
Oh, and the estimated price on the K&N is sub $300...but you can expect it to me more than the other ones on the market.
I wasnt really planning on an exhaust, but i got it for $540 delivered so i bit...I just dont think that a point n shoot camera can capture the tone of the exhaust.... Ive tried... and ive seen others... it doesnt do justice... as far as gains... i feel it pick up a little faster, but im not an experienced "dyno-butt" so i cant honestly say... I got the fujita on ebay for 150 delivered with a duffelbag... although i cant hear it anymore... i couldnt be more pleased with it... I also took out all that black plastic nonsense (where he has the K&N sticker) to give more room in the bay and add visibility to my (on order via sponsorship) Killerglass.com radiator piping...ESP wrote:Not at all mate!
