, ok another way to get the S chassis to conform to DOT is for nissan of Japan to write DOT a letter telling them taht the S chassis are similar enough to each other in saftey.. and some other stuff that unless you know people in the company will probably never get.

Yes I know this and you are right, it's harder then hell to get this and in most cases impossible. You are still stuck however, because if you have a letter from Nissan that says you meet DOT standards you are still stuck with the EPA regulations. That where having the SR in those cars bites you in the butt.

i just wanted to comment on this thread and how i am amazed to see two people duke it out over an auction. let alone bring up these legalities where one person shows the actual proof, and the other one tells about how things ran different when dealing with his r32 thingy. as we all know, there are loops and holes in every law. there is also a thing called luck. maybe ur friend was lucky enough for the officials to tell him that he could sell the car b/c they dont know any better or maybe the people at the customs office felt some sympathy, who knows. of course spec is on point with them links and i have to say that is has been quite entertaining. seven pages of replies in about a day. yall really love this thread. keep goin at it. lol
