Just helped my girlfriend purchase an 08 SL CVT Hatch Magnetic Grey with Convenience package, Sports package, Sill Plates, and Mats. $17,300 @3.9% 60 W/ tax, tag, title, and gap insurance plus two free details. First time I had ever bought a new car so it was fun bargaining with the dealer.

Awesome deal! How did you pull negotiate that deal?

I paid $15,500 for 08 Hatchback SL, CVT, ABS, Splash guards, Kick plates, and floot mats.

My suggestion for haggling, go look up invoice price on Edmunds.com for the options and model you want. Find out what rebates you are eligible for. Then offer Invoice - (3% of Total MSRP), before the rebates. For the Versa, I don't think theres any reason that you should be paying over invoice unless they have the car you want and you want it now no matter what. So work between that number I gave above and invoice.

I actually signed my lease with Nissan of Scottsdale (Pinnacle Nissan is REDICULOUS!!) last Friday. They didnt try to hard sell me too bad, because I went into the dealer knowing full-well exactly what I wanted.I signed a 39 month lease at $299.64 per month. Zer0 down! I am still not sure as to how much driving I plan to do in the next three years so I went with the 15k per year plan. These are all tentative plans due to the abundance of aftermarket parts that I have discovered online. I say tentative plans because I might want to go ahead and re-finance so that I am on a purchase plan instead of a lease program. All in all I am extremely happy with my lease!!

HI Stealth...you seem to be on the wrong side of the U.S. to get the real "good deals" on the Versa....it's important to watch eBay dealers selling the new 08 Versas and check out what's going on in the big North American Flea market every day.

Your Quote is a few hundred more than the best on the 'net, but then, your dealer is probably right around the corner...so to speak, and probably include the S&H costs...or do they?

People on the long list of complainers about Versa MPG's (me included) note that with the standard transmission..the engine rev's are quite a bit higher than the CVT's...hence some pretty dismal MPG numbers for that drivetrain.

I live in Canada and the highway MPG's here are rated at 47 mpg! WOW, I wonder if I could buy the one sprinkled with magic fairy dust that they used for that mpg test!

Is that the base SL model? That seems like a fair price (if that is the out the door price).

There were several Nissan Dealerships within 100 miles of us, but at the time, no one had any stock as the Versa was just on the market.

I just went ahead and special ordered the one we wanted sight unseen, and told them if I hated it they could eat it. At the time there was a 1% financing deal on several Nissan models, so we decided to take that. The local Nissan dealer in Red Deer were in no mood to cut even 5 cents off the MSRP at the time.

So, with GST and full MSRP it came to 21,980.00 Loonies.

That was a white SL model CVT, with biege interior, floor mats, mud flaps, block heater, ABS, Convienience and 'tech' package that included the upgraded sound system, sub woofer. and blue tooth cell phone capability on the steering wheel controls.

Since then I have added an outside temp, compass, Donnelly auto dimming mirror, sheepskin seat covers, gold pinstiping, chrome exhaust tip visor vents and limo tint.

We looked at same car when we were in Texas with even more options (sunroof) at about $18.000 U.$. dollars. {That included free oil changes for life} at McKinny Nissan near Dallas, those guys are serious sellers.

After all is said and done (Taxes, interest rate, levies, everything) I got a Versa SL with CVT for $21,800 CAN. Went to our local Burnaby, BC dealership. Nice guy. Cars are cheaper in the states. Do your research and see if you can get a deal across the boarder. Just be aware that when you buy a car in the US and you import it to CAN you void your warranty 100%.

Yes 'Kip Scotts' Nissan in Red Deer, we were lucky to find one there to take for a test drive...it was a Red SL with the CVT powertrain, it had just been dropped off the truck for a relative of the owner.

It was gone the next day.

[edit]Is it still a dealership that prides itself on customer service and low prices while trying to rob you blind [OK -- I'm jaded -- I tried to by a vehicle there in the 80s andcouldn't believe what they tried to do to me -- wasn't even a "bait and switch" -- advertised a car at one price in the paper and then the sales person told me that there was no way the car was available for that price (I didn't have the paper with me so couldn't do anything about it except say "I won't be back here" -- and he just shrugged his shoulders.).

Thanks! I was happy overall with the deal. I kept them all in the office until almost 9PM on a Saturday night (closing time was 6). Made them give me $250 more than what I owed on my trade-in, even. LOL

Some pics here for those that want to see it: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/...=3266

My next item on the to-do list is getting the windows tinted this spring when the weather warms up some more.

The dealer I got mine from in Chicago does 20-30 Canuck deals a month. They said the warranty won't transfer over but people are able to buy warranties on their own that will more than make up the price difference when it's all said and done.
