I'm guessing he used the method of torch, hammer, and chisel. I could be wrong...

ah I should've explained better...soak an old rag in some paint thinner and the leftover tar crap should just wipe right off it might take a little elbow grease but the paint thinner dissolves the leftovers so it looks clean like in the second pic

Very nice work man. This is pretty much the exact thing my ride will be going through next summer.

Also, I was looking into the RAAMAT and was wondering how much RAAMmat and Ensolite you ended up using? Love the details!

I got the 62 sq ft roll it will probably be just enough to do the floor and doors and maybe 4-5 sq ft of ensolite should do it, ran me around $200 not bad and much cheaper than dynamat. If you want to do a little more than I did def get the 100 sq ft roll you'll need it.

Hey man... I am amased in the work you have done to your car. I am about to start with the paint in my car and would like to do the same thing to my car. I was wondering what materials did you use to do that (I see you used dry ice and a tourch). What did you use them for? And of course how do you do all this. I would really appreciated if you would help me out. THANKS!!

Hammer and chisel for some of it, its painfully slow doing it this way but it works. The torch can soften it up a little bit just don't overheat it and burn it. I did about half the car that way and got tired of that so I picked up some dry ice, that was simple just dump the dry ice on the sound deadener let it sit about 10-15 mins and it freezes it enough it'll chip right off with hardly any force. Search around some a bunch of people used the dry ice method

The undercoat was in a spray can, I used rust bullet on the floor pans and I just brushed that on

True the fit is decent but any aftermarket carpet isn't going to fit perfectly, I think it will look fine once I get all the trim back in etc. I wanted black carpet and brand new its hard to find OEM carpet not beat to hell

I commend you on some fine work here. Wish i had the time and money to do the same.

For the headliner and for next time working with fabric, a heat gun does wonders. Just 10-15 sec with a heat gun will make the fabric stretch and fit those contour lines and then all you have to do is wait for the glue to set. Also, i got a heat gun from harbor freight for 10 bucks, well worth the 10 dollars.

Very nice. Finally someone building a functional car. You might consider doing the structural foam while you have it all apart.

I'm in the middle a similar (way it should have come from the factory) build with my hatch. The new carpet I have fit ok except in the rear floor pan area. It doesn't sit all the way down on the floor so I'm afraid if someone sits in the back seat when it gets stepped on it will get pulled out. Still not sure how I will get around that.

What do you plan to do about the sunvisors? Seats?

Gldnwolf - You could try to anchor it with a hoop from the carpet and a tiny screw under the seat.

This is a wonderful build, and I demand more pictures of it!

I don't often have people in my backseat if I can help it, but still... Screws under the seat will leave 2" of gap between the floorboard and carpet so if someone steps on it the carpet will tear or stretch.

I will probably use a piece of sheet metal and expanding foam to level out the floor pan behind the front seats. I only need about 2" to make up the gap and there are the weird humps in the floorboard back there anyway. It's a similar process that some companies use to package heavy items. Lay down a layer of thin plastic, like saran wrap or shrink wrap, tape it to your piece of sheet metal or partical board with holes drilled in it to inject the foam through. Let the foam do what it do and tape off the hole as it starts to come out. Just make sure it stays level. It will be removable and custom contoured to the floorboard.

My posting was more to find out if anyone knew of a company that made carpet that such a solution isn't necessary becuase this problem is

Sorry guys no updates to report lately between the holidays, work, and vacation haven't had much time

As for seats I was looking at some r32 seats but the guy wanted way too much for them so I think I settled on celica gts seats they look pretty nice and will fit me perfect.

You can get a roll of it off ebay. At least that's where I got mine. Basically just dynamat without the brand name. They have different thicknesses. It's messy to work with but well worth it if you are going for quality daily driver.

I was thinking of trying to make some GTO or optima sunvisors fit. Mine are shot, the previous owner destroyed the interior. Shame the way some people treat their vehicles, but it gave me an excuse to do a restore.
